Of course we should not forget August 7, and sometimes I wish we have another day like this in order to be unified again.
But mostly, FPMers should remember that day and try to see the difference in them, and maybe they will get back to their mind and change their attitude and politic and alliances.
This came today in Annahar newspaper:
Maybe this could serve as a new reminder to be unified again and stop all this fighting shit.

One other thing,
Since we’re debating who’s undermining Christian rights and position in Lebanon.
What is about Mr. Salloukh doing now at the Foreign Ministry? and where do Aounists stand in this regard?
First, we don’t know whether the 8th of March Ministers want to resign or continue their works, and second, why they do everything for “Tihmish el Mazssi7ieh”. Check what’s happeneing in the Foreign Ministry appointments.
Really strange those 8th of March people, once they don’t recognize the Government and say it is illegitimate, and once they participate to the elections, and they only work in their Ministries when they have an interest in doing so, without looking at the interests of their Citizens.
And they want a Unity Government… for what?? to destroy what is left? or maybe to do the same thing Hamas did in Gaza while there was a Unity Government.
And what about HA “Feti7 3ala 7sebo bil Da7yeh w bil Beka3 wil Jnoub” and extended phone cables!!!!! Wein el Mousheraki ya Chabeb???

Good afternoon. What happened on August 7th? I can not understand Arabic and that is why I ask you about that date.
Could you tell me whether there is an English-speaking radio o TV station in Lebanon? I would like to get news from Lebanon in English.
Greetings from Spain.

Welcome back Cromwell,
It’s been a long time since you last appeared here, and i hope u’re doing fine.
I don’t know if you can find an English speaking media talking about August 7, since you should go back to 7 years.
But in Brief, Our Maronite Patriarch had 2 days before that date an historical visit to the mountain, which saw a bloody confllic in the 80’s (1983) between Christians and Druzes, during the war, and this visit-tour was seen as a biggest reconciliation between both religions. He was received there by many of the Druze officials, namely Walid Junblatt who was starting to move away from Syrians. Also at that time, the Bishop Council issued his first appeal against the Syrian occupation in Lebanon, asking the Syrians to withdraw.
So the Syrians saw danger in these actions, cause as u know they can’t stand to see Lebanese good together, so 2 days after, and when youth from LF, FPMers, and other Christian parties, as well as youth fro other parties were demonstrating to support the visit-tour and the Bishops statement, and appeal for liberation and peace, the Lebanese-Syrian Security agencies, which was led then mostly by Michel Murr who was Interior Minister in the Government backed by the Syrian Regime, faced them hard and beat many of them, as well as arresting many others. It was a bloody response from the security people to a peaceful demonstartion, that mainly included students. Our own youth were held in prisons and suffered a lot from the Syrians and their agents, among them Michel Murr.
That was only a briefing
You should search and know about it.
Take care

Thank you for your answers. Firstly, I have to say to Rodge that I have not stopped reading this blog because, as I told you one month ago, it is very interesting and it provides very useful information on Lebanese politics and society. Secondly, it is true that I have not written many messages but I always read all the information you post here. Remember that I have included this web on by blog, because I recommend it to my readers.
Sometimes, I can not give an opinion because I do not have enough information for doing so, that is why I prefer reading instead of writing. I am just an outsider ;-).
After having read your response, I have understood the importance of August 7th. Thank you very much for your help.
Greetings from Spain.
