Ok, now i know we have come to expect everything from the guy who doesn’t even think before he blurts his “political statements” on public TV, but tonight beats all.

Where does Aoun get the right to tell Nayla Tueni to step down in Ashrafieh?

Just because Aoun campaigned for Ashrafieh to vote on its own… does that make him its sole owner now? I though our dear Aoun was in favor of democracy… or is that just a word we throw here and there while we demand that people step down?

Granted Nayla Tueni does not have a lot of political experience, but what have his “brilliant” collection of ministers accumulated in experience before becoming members in his bloc? Was Bassil some prime minister somewhere and we didn’t know of it?

And one more thing… since when has political experience actually helped people in Lebanon? lets look at Abou Jamra, for example. What has he been able to accomplish? other than whine about not having a room next to the prime minister? At least Nayla has a programme, one she has spoken about very clearly. At least Nayla can represent the voice of a young lebanese generation! At least Nayla is not one of those women who are merely keeping the patriarchal family seat warm for the next male heir to inherit!

I do not vote in Ashrafieh, but if I did I would have voted for her. I hope she makes it through, and most importantly, I hope she doesn’t bother to reply to his words, because she should not let her political speech reach that level.

This my favorite from Aoun speech:

“We know from previous experience that leadership is not something you inherit”

HAHAHA :-) Is he talking about his previous experience with Bassil the son-in-law? Or the other relative he put in OTV??

About Joseph Sader collaborating with Mossad, instead of asking for more information about this rumor ask for information about where he is and who is holding him!!!!

    Reine,
He addressed Nayla because he is hoping that her Grandpa will take the words of Aoun in consideration and convince her to step down, after all, even though i respect this excellent man very much but the fact is that he is walking alone away from 14 March.
I see him close to Berri more than he is to 14 March, don’t you think?
14 March are all with the international tribune except him, inspite that he should be the one raisng the voice high in this matter after the loss of his great JUBRAN.
By the way, is the son of the MARTYR Francois Hajj going for the elections on the list of AOUN ?

  • 3. reine | March 16th, 2009 at 11:00 pm

Elie.F, what do you mean by saying her grandfather is not for the tribunal?

He has always been for the tribunal, butunfortunately the last time I heard him speak, he was shaking so hard, it was difficult for him to continue.

But Nayla, on the other hand, has been very vocal with respect to the tribunal. she talks and writes about it continuously, especially in Nahar Ash Shabab, which I read every thursday.

besides, no matter what Aoun thinks or his motives, it’s about time people started holding him accountable for the rubbish he spills on TV.

reine, maybe the grandfather is reading behind the accusations??
I totally agree with you, he doesn’t have the right to say that, if i voted in achrafieh i would have for sure voted for her

    Well said Reine!
Aoun and the Jlabit, will be taught a lesson in Achrafieh.
    2al el 3asab el Orthodoxi 2al :)

    Experience?

No one but a selected few in parliament need experience.

What do MPs do exactly that requires experience?

It’s the head of the pary — who’s usually not an MP — who has all the experience and makes all the decisions.
His MPs just vote for what he tells them to vote. No experience required.

Anyone is better than that faggot Abu Jamra. Finaly tara2oo chawta w jeboo bl achrafieh. It really shows that he doesn’t get pushed around easily.

Aoun was yelling and trying to look like a tough guy and like he liberated Achrafiyeh.
Didn’t he bomb the sh!t out of it in 1990?

No Elie F, the son of francois hajj is not interested in running especially wz Aoun n that is according to mrs francois hajj; it seems that hajj used to respect Aoun when he was z commander in charge but when be came back from France, hajj stated on several occasions to his family how disappointed he was n how much he despised z General.

  • 8. Fuziyad | March 17th, 2009 at 11:31 am

Miche, you are wrong concerning the hajj family, not sure abt the dad but the son is not only a aounie, he is a big fan of HA…he said it himself on TV..may be for security reasons but still…he might be running in the south or at least that is his wish…

  • 9. Michele | March 17th, 2009 at 12:07 pm

Well I have been told that 3 weeks ago during my visit to Lebanon by his cousin who is very close to them. She asked z mother if z rumor was true n she replied that out of respect for his dad memory, he would never do so.

  • 10. mo | March 17th, 2009 at 12:49 pm

i agree he has no right to ask her to step down ..

in terms of the bigger picture though .. i think lebanese need to abandon this “political family” phenomenon if they ever want to get anywhere .. it reminds me of the mafia

The making of Politicians in Lebanon is a real disaster. I can’t hide my opposition to this retarded mentality of inheriting daddy’s political seat. I do understand the sensitivity of assassinated people.

I am so disgusted with Michele el Murr, he is just a jerk!
His son in politics, his daughter I think a mayor or sthg, his son-in-law is now running and his grand-daughter is running as well. I don’t think its a problem from the Politicians and rather a problem from the voters.

More of us should think of voting this year and see if we really want to totally vote for March 14.

Tashteeb is your right to pick who deserves and who doesn’t.

Not based on religion and sect but rather on who presents you and your ambitions and ideas.

I wouldn’t care of Mou3arada get an extra seat or 2 but i would be pissed off to see crap coming out from our side.

This is the “cast” system. A person is born a sangari,a priest (Brahmas),a trader,a slump-dog or a politician !Its a sign of backwardedness and even India is abondening this system.
But what to do, I have to vote M14 even if my mother-in-law is on this list! The M8-Syrian alternative is an NFW.

  • 19. Rima | March 18th, 2009 at 10:40 am

Lol Ziad 7elweh haye even if my mother in law on the list!

  • 23. reine | March 19th, 2009 at 6:35 am

Thanks for the comments guys and gals.

Truth is,I wish we didn’t always have the same members of the same families coming back time and again and inheriting leadership positions.

Unfortunately, though, it keeps happening! even those who ran for elections vowing the end of such policies ended up placing their sons-in-law and other members of the family as their right hand people.

BUT, and most importantly, some members of these families might be worthy at times, and i am against discriminating against them just because they share the same blood. even though i have a lot of concerns about Nayla and Nadim running in Ashrafiyeh, they might be able to do a lot. lets not forget that they are young and might have some added value if they were to enter parliament. at least i think Nayla does. her work with Nahar Ash Shabab has been inspiring and hopefully she will go on to do more.
