What really ticks me off these days is listening to an 8th Marchist debating that Syria hs left Lebanon and that it hs absolutely nothing to do with the current crisis…

despite the fact that not more than 2 days ago, Bachar was offering his services to KSA to solve the situation in Lebanon…

despite his constant demands for a national unity govt and other perks that seem to coincide with M8ths demands if not preceed them altogether…

Is he dictating what should be done? nooooooooo 7asha wa kalla…3ayb hal 7aki

Let’s see what has Assad achieved? in two years, he has succeeded in diverting the Lebanese demands from justice to internal bickering over details like a minister or two…

If I recall in March 14 2005, ALL the Lebanese were united in demanding that Syria leaves and that justice be finally done, not only for Hariri but for ALL the crap that Syrian goons had subjected the country to during 30 years of occupation…

Syria did pull out militarily…it was wiser to do so in light of the situation at the time, moreover it was reassured by a group of people took the streets on March 8 to assure Syria of their undying support and that it would always have a place in their collective and individual hearts…this group was later to become known as “the opposition”

Syrian pullout in April 2005 gave the green light for operation “divide and conquer” to start…Aoun who had established channels with Lahoud and his govt of the time was allowed to come back. In parallel, and this MUST NEVER BE FORGOTTEN, the attempts to free DSG from his prison cell were sabotaged by that same govt and its Syrian henchmen…

Aoun came with his talk about corruption and audit with a very specific target set in mind and that was to break up the M14 alliance…

Just a note to any remaining aoun supporters out there: you do not make a change by attacking head first…especially in light of the events of the time…

Nevertheless, aoun kept his talk of wanting to take every one to court, cleaning up the govt etc…Charming talk I must admit, yet history did prove that it was the least of his concerns…

the quadruple alliance was an attempt by M14 to counter act this since they knew aoun still enjoyed massive support in the Christian street and they knew, from history, that this support was increased by two factors: aouns speech of anti corruption and the absence of Geagea… the latter carried much more weight since many rumors were spread that Geagea was helpless, was being controlled, was no longer able to take decisions, and I am sure the members of the forum will recall other similar allegations…

another reason for the quadruple alliance was a last ditch attempt by M14 to split up M8 by taking in Hezbollah and Amal from it and bringing them “over from the cold” so to speak…something like a retaliation for Syria’s aounistic trick…

Anyways…one must hand it over to bachar… he is the son of his father in the sense that he has managed to keep his control over certain Lebanese factions ensuring him the ability to control the political scene at will…

and he is using this control in full force as the threat of the international tribunal becomes more and more imminent.

one just has to follow ALL the events from Feb 14th 2005 to this very day…

1- the string of assassinations of key M14 leaders…what other aim did it have except to intimidate this movement into submission?

2- the July war…it was hoped that it would be the entry to a new civil war in Lebanon…civil war that would keep both our neighbors at ease: no court to worry bachar who stays in power thus guaranteeing there would be no Islamic regime setup at the borders of Israel…a regime that could harm it if it were to openly support the radical Palestinian factions…

3- bachars speech soon after the war ended and his plans for sparking off a civil war had flopped…if i remember correctly, he was the first to accuse the govt of being israeli agents and he was the first to come out with the story of the M14 people helping israel against HA

4- the pullout of the HA ministers from the govt and the circus about sharing the decision making (gee they woke up to it after nearly 1.5 years…wooow) this was hoped to undermine the govt causing it to collapse

5- The sit in when everything else failed…another means of pressuring the govt into resignation

6- January 23rd which was an attempt to gain control of more strategic places other than Down Town, and occupy them leading to paralysis of the country and therefore th collapse of the govt…Also in vain

And the list goes on and on and on…

And still I will see someone come out and claim that Bchar is not interfering in Lebanon…there is no blinder than he who does not wish to see

    Othello,
Very nice analysis, i never saw el 7elef el roube3e from this point of view, but i absolutly agree, Syria will NOT leave Lebanon alone, and time will tell whether Hezbollah wants Lebanon to survive or not ..

His future is at sake at the moment, and he has been screwing up since the July war but benifiting Syria ..

Question is who is more influential on Hezbollah ?

    Iranians or Syrians ?

Because Iranians are not as reckless as they seem, or at least as Bashar is and will try to settle things in Lebanon if US and the western and most importantly the KSA lets them keep Hezbollah here.

Article to long, lots of details …..
Because of the author doesnt have a wise vision on the situation , he didnt mention any solutions ! What about the israeli influence othello?

  • 5. DJUAN | March 22nd, 2007 at 4:06 am

by the way decent job othello, but why cursing aoun? Othello, if we dont agree with you on some political ways ,does it mean we are bashar’s men? Bashar is interfering same as othres in the region , but who’s fault is it? isnt your government? your 7oulafe2? the hole situation is corrupted ,we are no longer controling our desicions internal or external. We failed the test (3ind al imti7an youkaram al mare2 aw youhan ) …..

in conclusion ,we are part of the new middle east conflict IRAN-SYRIA-USA-ISRAEL-KSA-PALESTINE AND EGYPT.Sadly ,WE HAVE TO face reality guys and pray ma NKOUN NI7NA FARE2 AL 3IMLE !!!!! :(

  • 6. WHAT | March 22nd, 2007 at 10:19 am

The Assad family all together has done nothing but meddle with our country to fulfill their own personal interests. They truly believe that a Lebanon that is unstable and dependant on Syria avoids any direct conflict between them and Israel. Research our history and you will see that. Bashar el ASS knows that he’s not popular with most of Lebanon and that’s exactly why he interferes.

What bothers me about the situation in Lebanon is that nobody’s ever been on the same page in terms of what they want for the country. What bothers me even more is that this is a perfect opportunity for Lebanese people to be unified but certain groups of people like HA, Amal, and FPM choose to allow external forces to interfere in our affairs.

I hope that in the future, more people support the 3/14 movement because IT IS the only way that Lebanon will become free, sovereign and peaceful.

  • 7. othello | March 22nd, 2007 at 2:17 pm

DJUAN…what solution can you foresee in light of the current divisions within the Lebanese? pray tell me?

and you have the audacity to come out and claim that Syrian interference was brought upon us by our allies??? sorry but have you forgotten who YOUR allies are? have you forgotten who are Hezbollah and who are the SSNP??? come on…are you for real mate???

  • 8. S.M.S. | March 22nd, 2007 at 10:18 pm

Well what did you expect Othelo !!!!!! DJUAN’s response is not a real shock. It’s never ever Aoun’s fault or their allies and you weren’t nice towards Aoun in your article, walaw.

Wlk y2eboshni ana DJUAN shou mahdouuuuum. 3asal 3asal.
Leik 7abibi inta ya rou7i, you try to find what the problem, then you address it directly by exposing it and trying to find out the root of the problems, after which you try to find solutions in order to heal.
DJUAN dearest, Aoun’s addiction to HA is his thirst for power and the chair. Khalas the snow has melted (your favourite expression) 3an Aoun.
“Your jumping to your IQ level”…
By this comment and similar ones, you use sarcasm to belittle and demean other’s comments, in order to avoid actually answering the actual content of this comment. Sometimes to show that you do not actually care (care less), while the actual comment has affected you deeply.
In other instances you use self-righteousness and according to Erkskine’s paper on shame and self-righteousness is that that the function of self-righteousness is in proportion to and to distract from feelings of shame (in this situation I would guess impotence or frigidity, could be a lot of different reasons).
Like I said I am STUDYING psychology, not yet one, 7abib albi inta, and you are quite interesting. Very intelligent person you are DJUAN and I say polite though sometimes you do aim to insult.
In regards to the political issues, the LF has lost a lot of lives defending the Christains’ right to survive in Lebanon. Yes a lot of mistakes has been made, but in regards to the trust issue, are you going to inform me how Aoun will provide those same material things that you mention??? please do, since you think others won’t.
And sorry if I laugh at your comment mentioning war2et eltafahom ma3leish. the only one benefitting are HA and the Syrians.
mish ra7 jawbak in regards to the Israel comments, beneath me and my IQ level is way high for that.

  • 14. DJUAN | March 25th, 2007 at 9:56 pm

PROUD * a7san ma hala2 ya3male mou7adara :P , I should review my comments from now on…. pround iran didnt leave HA and july war was the proof ya sabe .

  • 15. N10452 | March 25th, 2007 at 10:23 pm

    DJUAN,
Reply respectfully and you will get your replies posted.

I hope you got that clear.

  • 16. DJUAN | March 25th, 2007 at 11:53 pm

TIKRAM 10452 ; I am going to reply respectfully and clearly from now on ,but still you are taking care of your kids in here ,let them hear the truth and discover the media, you dont have to be their attorney during their weakness.

proud; I am not threatning in here ,but civil war is an option on the american table , look @ their new iraq ?! look @ their new middle east plan (july war), look at their deceptions toward; amin jmayel , samir jeajea and GMA yup i admit ! No doubt, we have faith in lebanon and its ppl ,but follow the owel ( boume ) will take you to the rubble (kharab) !!! Proud , being honest with you man , I dont c the iranian leaving HA ! July war was the proof on the otherhand I c your reoginal allies left you from before. Also, your internal allies are. ya3ne chu bade ilak :( looooooooool di7kit hizen 3la WLED tyatamo min kell al maylet . thx..

SMS; first thank you 10452 ,now i have to rethink my previous statment!:(
Banout, as you can see , I always find and analyse the prb (not coz im smart ) but simply the prb is your behavior , deed, intention and childness. I am happy that most of my predections were right in here (chek previous ) ma3 ino ass7abik al chabeb fakaroune jeye min al marikh ! kinto mfakrin kell al 3lam mni7a? yalla another mistake made by you regarding your politics ( you picked the wrong allies) .
    I wish you good luck in school , but i still have to explain 2 things to ya;
    1,self-righteousness ; maybe this is owet ,but let me explain where does fpm stand in this psychosocial stages of development;
self-active ; this is the higest level you can reach or achieve ( ask you Dr about ), you ‘ll become self active if you learn from your mistakes (ouwet did not), gain experience (know how to accomplish) and then WISDOM-ISM . Ouwet still level 1 ! coz in psy there is a theory that says ; WHEN YOU RELY TOO HEAVILY ON VALIDATION FROM EXTERNAL SOURCES, WE CAN LOSE CONTROL OVER OUR LIVES . I just dont know why the lf are not using their expertise in there? into educated walaw? uh?
    Aoun is providing lots of solutions and ideas , since you’re asking (tikram 3ynik ) ra7 samilik bass 3 ;
    1 FPM ( free PATRIOTIC movement ).
2 He is avoiding the use of weapons .
3 Educated movement for bright future .

in conclusion , deb al talej w bayan al marej nbut still nchala kell chi kher , haza loubnan 3ssiyon 3n al mouwt.

thank you , best wishes mates and always remember ; WATANI da2iman 3la 7ak .
