Aoun disproves Darwin once again…
Posted by othelloThis evening as I was heading back home after a long day’s work, I switched on the radio, only to be flashed back some twenty odd years…
there was Aoun, in a press conference, reusing the same logic and accusations that lead to the Ilgha war in the late 80s…
A wave of anger and frustration took over me as he continued with his accusations and allegations…then as I forced my mind to clear, I realized that Aoun was doing nothing short of reusing the same tactics that got him off the hook back in 89 when, after miserably failing to achieve the targets he had set forth for starting the so called Liberation War, he resorted to attacking the LF, thus creating a diversion and evading being questioned by the people about his irresponsible actions.
Today, history was repeating itself once again.
After his obvious failure in proving his political weight in the Christian regions, and, in order to evade being questioned by those he claims to represent, he resorted to attacking the Lebanese Forces by accusing them of all sorts of crimes.Shame on you Aoun…a thousand shame on you.
Have you not learned anything from the last fifteen years? Have you not evolved and acquired the maturity that comes with the years as any natural person does with time?
Do you have no remorse for doing what you did? Do you not realize the degree of responsibility that you hold in saying what you said in front of the entire Lebanese population?
Look at the obvious lack of logic in the guy’s mentality:
• He accused some of the workers of LBC of attacking the demonstrators with weapons and firing on them, and stated that the army surrounded LBC and tried to arrest the criminals (in undertones, he hinted that Pierre Daher’s bodyguards were directly involved when he mentioned Shahtoul). When Tania Mehanna, a reporter from LBC confronted him about the lack of truth in the story about the army surrounding LBC, he retracted his statements and mumbled off some incoherent phrases about information given to him.
• When asked about those that were killed in yesterday’s demo and about their political affiliations, he went as far as denying it completely!!!! He said he had no information that anyone from 14th of March had been killed and claimed that the only people who were injured were the seven FPM supporters…Here I ask, the guy who was shot in Batroun, Ryad Abou Khattar, did he die of a heart attack? Was he not shot in cold blood by the demonstrators? More precisely by El Marada supporters?
• When asked about the discrepancy between his referral to the demonstrations as pacific and non violent and the actual events that took place, he first stated that the demonstrators were acting in their full legitimate rights, then, when cornered about the legitimacy of burning tires and blocking roads, he went off to say that the only way to deal with “zo3ran” or outlaws was to behave like them. A fine example in morals and ethics displayed by the ex-general…
• When the reporters started getting too accurate with their questions, and attempted to dig below the shallow statements he made, he went ballistic and started attacking the reporters directly…
Tab, I want to ask the ex-general who having lived for fifteen years in a civilized environment, albeit France where he ran away seeking asylum after his miserable failures, is this the democratic way to behave?
Is it democratic to force people to respect your strike by blocking their roads and forbidding them from going to their work?
Oh but wait, he then claims that the strike was successful because all, or a vast majority of the shops and businesses abided…give me a break…
Is this the democracy you and the FPM are preaching?
Is this the set of moral values you have not stopped talking about since 1988?
You who claim you want to investigate everyone, are you fit to be investigated? Will your well kept façade resist further digging?
And pray tell, why did the ex-general not mention the Jdeideh incidents, where a bunch of thugs came down from Rwaysat and Zaatriyi (predominantly Hezbollah strongholds) to Jdeideh wrecking havock along their way, breaking car windows and smashing anything that came in front of them?
Why did he omit to talk about the Hazmieh incidents when Amal and Hezbollah supporters stormed the area spreading their hatred and wrecking havock amongst the peoples belongings? Was this not truly the work of militias?
Is the ex-general so far away from the Lebanese culture to ignore the fact that when people are attacked in the midst of their homes they will react and react violently?
Has the ex-general not studied the Lebanese history well enough to realize the underliying tensions that exist between the inhabitants of Jdeideh and those of Rwaisat, or between the inhabitants of Hazmieh and those of Dahyi? Tensions that were heightened by the murder barely two months ago of Sheikh Pierre Gemayel?
And why did he choose to ignore that twenty four hours before, he had asked people to stay home for their protection…was it not because he knew that these incidents were going to happen? Could it be that he was betting on them to happen in order to use this joker card today?
Sorry Aoun, but this time you bet on a loosing horse.
The Lebanese, and more precisely the Christians and a vast majority of them, are wise enough not to fall for your programmed brainwashing a second time.
Unlike you, they have evolved and gained enough maturity to separate the truth from the horse manure you are shoveling.
This time, the Lebanese Forces will not be turned into a scapegoat to hide your failures in politics and incapacity to make accurate political calculations.
