Joerg Haider dies in car accident

Austrian far-right politician Joerg Haider has been killed in a road accident, police reports say.
Haider died near Klagenfurt in Carinthia, his political stronghold.
He was driving alone when his car came off the road and he suffered severe head and chest injuries, police told the Austrian APA news agency.
The 58-year-old was a former leader of the Austrian Freedom Party, and was known for his anti-immigration and anti-EU policies.
Police investigators in Klagenfurt told the BBC that investigations into the crash were under way.
He had reportedly been due to attend his mother’s 90th birthday celebrations later in the day.
“For us this is the end of the world,” the deputy leader of Haider’s Alliance for Austria’s Future, Stefan Petzner, told Austrian news agency, APA.
EU sanctions

Haider was a divisive figure, who gained notoriety after he became leader of the Freedom Party in 1986.
In 1991, his term as governor of the province of Carinthia was interrupted, after he made comments praising employment policies of Nazi Germany.
But he was re-elected in 1999 and 2003.
In 2000, the EU imposed sanctions against Austria in a protest over his party’s role in government.
In 2005, Haider founded the Alliance for Austria’s Future, which scored its best result so far in recent elections, gaining 11% of the vote.
This was, however, well below the 27% which the Freedom Party won under his leadership in 1999 – a high mark in Haider’s electoral career at national level.

    Aoun is off to Iran:

    Now that is shocking news, not to me, but to his supporters.

    It seems his masters are fed up and will only give him his checks in person, no more bank transfer.

    Showing his true colors, a slave to money, wherever it may roam.

    Next 2 stops on his agenda, Syria and North Korea.

    Note: Aoun is making this move as a response to Saudi Arabia ignoring him as well as the American envoy on the last visit.

    Now he will return asking for the 4 missing Iranian diplomats.

    Aoun is truly insane!
    Why the hell would he go to iran?
    Why that when he’s got something to prove(that he is not in mi7war souré irané) he does something this stupid and crazy?
    Maybe he convinced himself that all the sunnis are terrorists and the shiites are are the only salvation for the christians.
    It’s bad enough that he appointed his son-in-law minister, but after people see him shaking hands with ahmadinajad he can kiss the next elections goodbye.

    The man won 27% of the votes in Austria and was a respected politician by many … and he did resign after pronouncing his racist terms …

    I totally reject his racist ideas, but his thought on immigration was very correct and if adopted back then, could have saved Europe a lot of problems .

    You guys follow more racist & fanatic politicians than Haider has ever been .. so spare me your nonsense ..

    I second that Fuziyad… Joerg Haider was a fascist…. atheltico madrid fans held a banner in the stadium last sunday that said : RIP JOERG HAIDER…
    everyone was shocked and concerned about this racist act…
