28 Aug 2008:
A Lebanese officer is killed when a military helicopter was shot at in southern Lebanon. [...]

It wasn’t Israel, nor Palestinians but the so-called “resistance” shooting at the Lebanese army.

Pilot Samer Hanna was shot in the head and killed instantly. His killer was freed few weeks ago with only a fine to pay as it was “unintentional”.

Reactions to freeing Samer Hanna’s killer

Why did Hezbollah shoot the officer?

“because it crossed red lines that Hezbollah had warned the Defense Ministry and army command” not to cross, the sources said.

May he rest in peace and may God be with his family …

Blue on blue, friendly fires and mistakes are common terms armymen are used to hearing….

    when things go wrong :

RIP samer..This was clearly a friendly fire incident…

  • 2. sniper | August 28th, 2009 at 11:24 am

What’s interesting to know now is whether the army continued to fly that zone or not after the incident. That would give us some indication on whether the fire act was friendly or not.

Furthermore, Samer’s family should be financially compensated big time for his loss. Let’s begin at a modest 20 million dollars. Apologies and bull-crap won’t do.

    Sniper,
You have to check with Aoun if he gave them his “divine” permission to go there again ..

The LF never fought the army .. it fought Aoun’s militia ..

  • 6. ja3far | August 28th, 2009 at 1:01 pm

  • 7. N10452 | August 28th, 2009 at 2:58 pm

    Aoun’s militia :-)

There was no LA back then … bits and bits of brave army men dragged behind crazy generals & officers … some of which were in the LF ironically :-)

    Indignation yes, fake NO

Let me tell you a story danny, back in 1991 I visited Kleiat with a few friends to see what had become of this village. Back in the day it used to be a very crowded and lively place, I don’t know if it still is. So we went there after the war ended because we had heard that it had been severely bombarded and wanted to see it with our own eyes.
When we got there, one thing struck me the most: half of the village was COMPLETELY destroyed, and the other half was I don’t want to say intact, but had few traces of bombs here and there.
We enquired with some inhabitants and were told that the half that was destroyed was the army’s half and the other part was the LF’s.
Morale of the story? If any one attacked its own citizens wou fazza3 during the war it’s the LF…. I don’t know how old you are, but I can assure you having seen with my own eyes the things the LF did during the war and I’m not talking only about the bombardments, I saw what the actual militia men did and how they behaved…
My friend, the way many many Christians feel about the LF today did not come out of the blue…. Those guys (after geagea took over the party) did some horrific and despicable things to their own community, which is why they only enjoy popularity among youngsters who know nothing about them, whereas the older people who know exactly what they’re all about are either Aouniyye (unfortunately) or neutral

I’m not saying the army didn’t do mistakes during the war, all I’m saying is that they were far far better than the LF and they sure didn’t do noss yalle 3emlou el ouwet. Keno 3askar m3atreen following orders and they sure weren’t thugs and assassins like you say. This would only apply to geagea’s forces.

  • 18. Maximus | August 28th, 2009 at 5:31 pm

  • 20. Elie.F | August 28th, 2009 at 5:38 pm

Ja3far, this is what you said:

“holi chabeb kino bil jeesh al libnani . they were following the orders of their officers, the president of lebanon and army commendor”.

1: Who was the President of Lebanon back then?
2: Inno you want to tell us that you were ok with that government back then? They were 100% Christians and not a single Muslim was in and accepted to join Aoun, inno back then it was DOSTOURIYEH w SHAR3IYEH? and in 2006 when Pierre died and the MTEWLE Ministers left the government in a very critical time it “where all the Sunna and Druze and Christians stayed in” it was not called DOSTOURIEY w SHAR3IYEH?

Inno se3it yalli badkon bitseero MA7ROMEEN?

  • 21. ja3far | August 28th, 2009 at 5:48 pm

eli shou khas al ma7roumeen/ al seet 3layna wil fi3el 3laykoun.. ma bchoufkon ila bi tni2ou houn…

for the soldiers who were fighting in the army they were obeying the orders of their officers and the president.. they are not politicians to decide.. even now when the government was not distoriye, the army were following the orders..
ba3deen for your information, General Aoun is considered as president Aoun by all parties and when a a new prime minister is chosen he go visit him among the old prime ministers

  • 22. kezballah | August 28th, 2009 at 5:48 pm

Al, from your story that you visited Lebanon in 1991 it means you were probably outside Lebanon during the days of Aoun’s militia, when Aoun came to power those poor army men you are talking about started abusing the citizens like all the militias at their checkpoint, they drive around in unmarked cars like mafia and they beat the sh*t out of you if you look them in the eye, I was not a kid then and I saw it and was almost a victim myself, this is BEFORE the Ilgha war that AOUN LAUNCHED against LF.

We are only discussing this because ja3far seem to be on the same high as Fadlallah and threw what Hezbollah is doing today to what LF did 20 years ago same like all militias especially AMAL and Jumblat’s PSP (the new Hezbollah friend) used to do.

There was no reason to fire at an army helicopter, esp. that it was its duty to fly over lebanese soil. This is a shameful event and must be dealt with properly, which in Lebanon, too many times does not happen. 3ayb 3alli sar!

    Doc 1559

You claim to be a retired Police officer from PDD.
U might have skipped the friendly fir course but just a little reminder :

Friendly fire happens in two cases :
First when the country is in state of war (we were not)
second on a training ground within the same force (which they were not )

    Good job policeman

  • 49. mrlous | August 29th, 2009 at 5:32 pm

friendly fire at the head ??so in the army every soldier can shoot each other in the head at close distance and it would be a friendlyfire? no its not friendlyfire its hizballah “criminalfire” , as for ouwet-army war it was aoun declared the elimination war and trying to assasinate ja3ja3 on jisr el basha and killing his bodyguard while heading to meet general aoun in baabda “before war” and leb forces didn’t take revenge doctor geagea continued his way to baabda . i am very curious to know if general kahwaji in this time declared elimination war against hizbullah and army trie to assasinate nassrallah what would be the faith of leb army at least in the south .of course they will fight them back with rice and flowwers .
