Roumieh Elections : The oldest wins ..
Posted by N10452Not that i really care about those elections, i have stated in many previous posts that such university elections should be cancelled since they are harming the students who are orienting their campaigns politically instead of academically.
However, what surprised me is that what made the FPM win was the fact that they had older candidates ????
In fact, LF won 10 seats and FPM won 8 seats, but 2 seats were won then by the FPM after a tie in the votes !
I am not sure who is the brilliant behind that electoral rule, but since when the oldest candidate wins if there is a tie ??
Simple example : If a candidate failed a whole year and is behind, he will win over a candidate who is on his first year and passing all his courses ?? ya3ne bil 3arabe el mchabra7 .. iza wa7ad toch wou sa2it kel sfoufo .. he has an advantage if he ties with a new student who s having straight As ??
That is so stupid.

Quotes “” from the post:
“harming the students who are orienting their campaigns politically instead of academically.”
“surprised me is that what made the FPM win ”
> Would you have still been surprised if the Lebanese Forces won or would “really care about those elections,”?
“LF won 10 seats and FPM won 8 seats, but 2 seats were won then by the FPM after a tie in the votes !”
It is better to have a tie - so you wouldn’t be “harming the students who are orienting their campaigns politically instead of academically.”

Welcome to Lebanon, this is the same thing like the 2000 law for parliament elections also:
Article 62:
Is considered a winner in the elections, the candidate who obtains the highest number of votes in the district among the candidates of the same caza or region within the allocated seats of each confession in that caza or region according to list no. 2 attached to this law. Should there be an equality in the votes, the oldest candidate wins.
So the FPM won because of the Ghazy Kanan law

wow didnt know that oldest candidate would win.. in school it was youngest candidate would win .
btw TheCourtFool no body said anything about the tie being just the way it was resolved, and yes it would have been wrong if the LFer was the one who was older and won.

theCourtFool,
I would have said the same thing for the LF or whomever … i clearly stated on many occasions that once Syrians were out, there was no point in doing student elections anymore since they were pointless and being exploited by the political leaders nothing more nothing less ..

The question is:
LF were doing fine 5 years ago when they took the Roumieh election 18 - 2
What happened since then? who messed up the work the previous started.
I remember the times where only FPM ruled in Roumieh and they ruled for so long that they ended up doing big shit.
Is it LF time to fuck up now?
Please get in touch with the students department in LF and make sure they refocus their people in the right direction.

wassim, Mabrouk your win mesh hey al mashkaleh bass when you claim to represent 70% of Christians you should not need to win with age difference.

agree with N10452, the winner must be the brave, and to take it to higher academic level, students with high grade shall only be qualified to become candidate…

the law should be modified either by reelection , or letting the student with higher grades win

are you so sure that the LF would get the higher notes:P lol
i am from that university:
all the people who go into election are usually repassing the class
No time to do anything but studying
any little commitment outside the book will degrade our results in class.
