I still try to convince myself that this trip was not a mistake done by Saad.

Change can happen, but sure i’m talking about the positive change. Saad seemed to be in Syria a real PM, and showed a big responsibility when he made his press conference from the Lebanese Embassy in Syria.

If you’re talking ya N that he killed his father twice with his visit, what would you say he would be doing to our beloved prisoners who are still in Syria if he didn’t make this visit? how many times the late leaders killed them before?
How can you talk about your fears and interests if there is no dialogue and refuse to have one?do you think opening a dialogue must start by setting rules? do you think the mothers and sisters of our beloved prisoners are looking at the visit the same way as you are doing?

I say let’s give him a chance, saving the living is more important than raising the dead, if u have 2 children in a tsunami like the one that hit in the indian ocean, and one of them is dead and the other is still hanging on ,you won’t save him by mourning the dead and blaming our mother nature, get past the dead and aim for the living.

    N,

By the way,i hope you remove the 1st picture of Martyr Rafik Hariri, you can put instead his photo and the photo of all the Cedar revolution Martyrs. We have to respect the dead and keep their picures in our mind in the beautiful way we used to know them.

The Caporal said on French TV: “I have no doubts the syrians assassinated Hariri”…

Would you be able to shake the hands (…and kiss) someone who killed your father?

  • 11. kezballah | December 21st, 2009 at 9:05 am

Elie.F, what you said (and ja3far said the same thing before) is not wrong, we want to have dialogue to fix the problems, we agree on what we have to do, but we don’t agree on how we should do it and when we should do it. If Hariri is doing the right thing at the right time, then why does IT FEEL SO WRONG?

No one can tell me that this trip feels right, Syria yesterday was trying to erase the 1559! Also yesterday Syrian justice (what a funny word!) was trying to threaten some Lebanese members of parliament. Tayyeb forget Syria they are a-ssholes they will not change, but why did Hariri make this trip personal without official invitation from Syria and without an official delegation from Lebanon? Why Hariri did not wait for the first session of the UN court to reveal the accusations? Why Hariri and other M14 did not explain to their supporters the reason for changing the strategy from facing the killers to negotiating with the killers?

Ya khayye tell us the reason maybe we will support you, like all the speeches before make a speech and tell us did the UN abandon the court, will the court justice be a joke, is Syria innocent, were we wrong before, tell us the reason we will respect you more than if you fly to Syria from Saudi Arabia like a thief in the night!

3ayb and this is a CRIME not only against Rafic Hariri, there are other leaders also who died after him like Gemayel, Tueiny, ETC… we know what was their position about Syria and we know how their supporters feel, where is the respect for all this sacrifice? Not a word from Hariri to us before this visit, it is a big shame!

We don’t want war with Syria but we are not sheep, I condemn this visit and I withdraw all my support from Hariri, from today I am AGAINST Saad Hariri and his government, I will wait for the UN to see if any justice will come from them because justice and human rights is what our prisoners in Syria want also.

  • 12. kezballah | December 21st, 2009 at 9:10 am

Infidel, qa2ed of what? What battle did Bashar fight against Israel? When is the last time Syria fight against Israel? Let me see, they fly F16 over his palace 2 years ago, they bomb a site inside Syria last year, and they destroy Lebanon in 2006, Bashar released a statement after every attack, yes of course ya3ish al ka2ed because he refuse to fight and risk death against Israel, he only send the Lebanese to die in his place, ya3ish ya3ish ya3ish ;-)

  • 13. Ziad | December 21st, 2009 at 9:51 am

Yalla it is 1990-2005 all over again but this time it is without the Syrian army.Syrian influence is back stronger than before (they have more allies now thanks to the Aounies)and we will be used as another bargaining chip in the pocket of this deadly regime. Thank you HA,Aoun,Jumblat for taking us back to February 13,2005!

  • 14. ja3far | December 21st, 2009 at 11:03 am

K… why should harriri wait for the court? there is no official accusations for syria for the murder of harriri. Not a single one. Even the M14 people say the accusations for the happened killing were political accusations .

the problem for you people is that you have been filled with so much amount of lies for the last 4 years that you are completely brain washed you are not able to understand what is happening now.

  • 15. kezballah | December 21st, 2009 at 11:14 am

Khayye ja3far 3am testa2elna shway with all due respect, manna hebel la hal darajeh walaw.

Yes there are no official accusations against Syria for the murder of Hariri, but there are official suspicions from the UN investigation in the reports we all read about Syria and its allies involvement, and Syria was in charge of all the security and insecurity in Lebanon since 1976, shou ne7na 3am ne7keh 3an nizam al Dalai Lama ta nkoun hal2ad brainwashed with lies?

Ba3den shou why should Hariri wait for the court, ma Hariri houweh ou Joumblat tawashoulna rasna bel court and counting the days for the court now they are not forced to wait for it? I am a free citizen who is not a sheep for any leader, what I am doing now is holding Hariri accountable for his past actions, even if he is on the side of M14 or LF or whatever, this is what “you people” are not able to understand in the behavior of “us people”, I don’t care if his name is Hariri or Geagea, not all the people who go to a demo are blind followers, this is maybe true for M8 events but in the demo of March 14 2005 there were many who are not blind followers, we march for our principles and these principles don’t change with the wind.

  • 16. kezballah | December 21st, 2009 at 11:31 am

I want to ask M8 supporters, you have all your prisoners back from Israel, and if we also get the Shibaa Farms and Ghajar and all the lands, will you automatically forgive Israel and accept that Berri fly to Tel Aviv and shake the hands of Olmert and Livni and on top of it to become their little ally?

We are still not even at the stage of having our prisoners back, we can’t even make Syria draw the border with us, we have a Syrian-Lebanese council that still challenge our independence, we have Syrian workers and mokhabarat who challenge our laws and security, but this is not the problem, I only want to understand why your family that was killed in Qana by Israel is more important than my family that was killed in Zahle by Syria, can anyone from M8 please explain this to me so I can shake the hand of Bashar?

  • 17. ja3far | December 21st, 2009 at 11:38 am

K… can you please point out for me the official accusations to syria in the last 4 UN investigation reports?

if syria was present when Harriri died does that make them responsible? were the chiefs of CIA and FBI taken to prison after the 9/11 attacks? chou hal mante2.

Hala2 ” nihna people” are able to undestand “you people ” frustration… for the simple reason: the leaders” of you people” were lying at “you poor people” ; and that is what we have been saying all the way. but “you people” tend to blame syria on everything . even on the lies of the leaders of ” you people”.

on the other hand, ” our people” went on March 8 to say that 3omokna al strategy is in the east not in the west . the leaders of ” us peopel” had made us get used to the fact that they only say the truth ; our road was clear and targets are being achieved .. unlike the other poor people who are ” you people ”

sorry bas feye2 wa raye2 al youm ;)

  • 18. Mike | December 21st, 2009 at 11:49 am

Lesson learned: Politics change like the breeze of the wind.

Stick to the real lebanese ethical and moral principles rather than a political or religous group and you will realize that we are all in the same trench fighting our way out.

  • 19. HammerHead | December 21st, 2009 at 11:51 am

One thing to add. Maybe the Syrians had a hand in killing his dad and maybe they did not (let’s give them the benefit of the doubt)

L CHAGHLI L AKIDI ENO 2IDO LAL 7ARRIRI NKASRIT BI SOURIYYA IZA ZEKRIN. HAYDI SARIT BL 3ALAN.

Bas yalla metel ma 2elet l syesi weskha ya chabeb (w banet) :P

  • 20. kezballah | December 21st, 2009 at 12:02 pm

J… sa7 e nom ou ma baddeh 2enza3lak nharak iza ray2a ma3ak, but I cannot tell you niyyelkon you people 3a hal leaders yalleh when they underestimate Israel’s reaction you lose 1200 from you people and the whole country gets destroyed, ya3neh that’s not what I call 3omok strategy

The leaders of us people are not all liars, the dozens who went to their death for what they believe in are not liars or stupid, they just believe that 3omokna al strategy is Lebanon not the east and not the west, we take help from anywhere if it is for Lebanon’s sake wa joulla man la youkhte2, but we are not led by liars or killers or foreign dicators, the only liars I have seen in the history of Lebanon were created by Syria, from Hobeika the double agent to Aoun the pyjama hero

About the UN, again there are not yet official accusations against Syria, that is why I am saying to wait for them, but if you noticed they did not call Geagea for questioning this time, they called Bashar and Lahoud and all the Syrian agents in Lebanon like Qandil and Wahab, and all the suspicions show that the truck came from Syria, the planning and the coordination on the ground needed a government to do it, shou badna nerja3 na3mil our own investigation on the blog to find the “truth”?

The problem with you people khayyeh J is that your leaders got you so used to the Syrian occupation that you confuse a foreign army with Lebanese agencies, no the FBI and CIA were not thrown in jail after 9/11 because Americans know that the CIA and FBI are trying to protect them not kill them, but in Lebanon the Syrian army was specialized in killing us, ask Walid Joumblat if you don’t beleive me, he was a leader of you people then he became a leader of us people and now he is again a leader of you people, so he is only 33% liar ;-)

    Bonne journee khayye J :-)

  • 21. ja3far | December 21st, 2009 at 12:25 pm

K.. inti tinza3li nhari? 3ayb hal haki ya zalami shou beek :)
you know what will walled jomblat say if you ask him?
    I can hear him say,
” for twenty years when keen 3omki al strategy in syria and i was estabished as one of the main leaders in lebanon and won all the wars i faught min hareb al jabal la 6 february la…
then after 20 years, tli3et ghasheem, 3milet mitel geagea, indarab 3ala rasi wa sada2et al amarkeen.. shoufou shou sar fina…til3oulna 3al jabal wa 3imlo fina yali ma byen3amal ..
    t3alamou mini”

Now you want to talk about our leaders? our peparations and survival in a war like the 2006 shows very well that we dont underestimate anything… when everybody thought this is the end things showed we were prepared like no body thought this can be possible ;)

the UN representative who led all these investigations is under too many question marks at the moments and days will show how he was manupilating and leading the investigation for political reasons .. i know u know that ..

finally, Havent you wonder when you heard Saed harriri or waleed jumblat , who were leading you people for the last 4 yeas ,saying they were lying to Syria or SHN ? didnt you ask yourselves why wouldnt they do the same to you?
whne you blame Saed harriri for going to syria , why wouldnt you blame Ameen Al jumayel for all his trips to syria after 82 when you accuse syria directly for killing his brother ?

bonne journee a toi aussi Khayye K :)

I think March 14 should be dissolved! No meaning to continue anymore…

  • 23. Rambo | December 21st, 2009 at 1:09 pm

    Lessons learned:

    1- Joumblatt has no principles.
2- Saad is puppet (and barely can read). he should go back to Paris collecting prostitutes to the Saudi prince ….
3- Aoun burried his principles long time ago.
4- Amine has no principles at all …. he declared yesterday that he was the first to support Saad visit to Syria.
5- Samir Geagea left his principles in prison … in order to jump on the Hariri wagon to Syria, his LF deputy Adwan declared before the visit that the LF is in the same trench with Syria against Israel. Assad zatalo warm water on his behind.
6- the most important point: the Lebanese kiss the hands of the qa’id wil sheikh wil m3alim 100 times even if the m3alim wil qaed wil sheikh switch their principles 100 times per day.

  • 25. Fuziyad | December 21st, 2009 at 2:23 pm

Ja3far, halla2 seriously you are discussing if Syria was the killer or not?? come on, you know the only possible alternative is that it’s HA without syria knowledge.

One thing is sure, the killer considered himself as the winner after 7 may/doha as he stopped killing so it’s either syria or HA or both, there is no other suspects…

  • 26. Infidel | December 21st, 2009 at 2:29 pm

Saad had no choice. This trip to Syria came after a brief visit to KSA beforehand, which all along encouraged him to go visit Bashar as a way to break the ice with the syrians and give him a chance to govern peacefully. Lebanon cannot have peace and stability without Syria’s blessing and that is reality whether we like it or not! One thing that we fail to remember as lebanese, is that no one will ever care for our slogans of independence and sovereignity until our people unites and take matters into our own hands and make decisions on our own and not rely on others to bail us out every time we shoot ourselves in the foot!

  • 33. fad14 | December 21st, 2009 at 9:57 pm

    The Question is.
If we are not March 14, Who are we ?
What are we fighting for and what are we trying to achieve ?

    Personally, I don’t really know.

At least I know what I am NOT.

  • 34. kezballah | December 21st, 2009 at 10:39 pm

fad, good question, we are FREE MEN+WOMEN, we existed before March 14 2005 and we will exist after 2009. We don’t take instructions from Bashar or Khamana2i or Bush, we are born free and we die free, it is better this way than to live second class to anyone inside or outside Lebanon. If we join LF or HA it is a free choice, today in Iran they banned a newspaper for the opposition, that is exactly the kind of life that I refuse.

  • 35. paul | December 21st, 2009 at 11:00 pm

the desire of any victim is to look the killer one day in the eyes.

    kif hal 7ijje ?

  • 36. kezballah | December 21st, 2009 at 11:12 pm

J there is a contradiction in the thinking you talk about, you fight Israel no matter what the cost but you say Geagea is ghashim because he is fighting against the strong, in this logic you should have allied with Israel their air force can kick the Syrian army’s a-ss in 2 minutes.

Khayye J when you say we bet on the American, I don’t understand what this mean to be honest with you, in 1975 the Palestinians wanted to control our country and make it a battlefield, we fought them and we asked for help from anyone who is not with them including Israel, in 1978 the Syrian did the same thing and we react the same way, what else can we do ally with Syrians to fight Syria? ally with PLO to fight the PLO?

From 1978 until 2005 Syria occupy us and we try all ways to make them leave, peace and war, dialogue and insult, they did not leave and we know the Americans wanted them to stay, I don’t see anyone betting on America I see us trying to get help from anyone even the devil to get rid of the damn Syrians. Amin Gemayel tried dialogue and failed, and LF was against his visits but at least his visit did not remove the pressure on Syria, there was no pressure on Syria from UN or anyone else.

I am only betting on one thing and you will see it in the future, Syria will lie and will not do anything to help Lebanon or solve the problems between us, Syria will use us like they always do and Hariri will regret his new strategy unless he is willing to be a servant for Bashar. If we agree to keep Lebanon’s fate in the hands of Bashar and burn our country for his eyes every time he wants to negotiate with Israel, then Syria will be a great friend, but if we dare to ask for our dignity and independence then Syria will send us Fate7 Islam and Ahmad Gibril to kill our people, eh shou hal friend haida?

  • 37. kezballah | December 21st, 2009 at 11:20 pm

Infidel sorry I didn’t notice you were making sarcasm, I assure you that my sense of humor is fine and it it is more important for me than even 2amn al moujtama3 al massi7i, it is fawka kul 2i3tibar as we say in LF, ya3neh above everything else from Bashar’s mouth all the way up to Geagea’s butt ;-)

  • 38. kezballah | December 21st, 2009 at 11:24 pm

paul, LOL :) eh akeed to look the killer in the eyes, but not to make doux-yeux to him :)

Anyway Bashar made sure all his victims are dead so they can’t look him in the eyes, only 3 survived Marwan Hmade and Elias Murr and May Chidiac, but they are not welcome in Syria even they want to interrogate Hmade, ya3neh radiya al qateel wa lam yarda al qatel…

  • 40. Rima | December 22nd, 2009 at 12:01 am

    Fuziad

    Smart comment.

It crossed my mind that this might be an option that HA are directly behind the assassination…They are the main beneficiaries. A good move as to kill two birds with one stone! Syria out Hariri and co down!

I always thought the shoukran souriya speech has more into it. Shoukran and yalla rawha bala raj3a. They have all the power now! No need for syria to be on their back.

not that I am defending Syria but I think the Syrian regime has never been so dumb as to commit such a crime against a Sunni leader and pay the price of being isolated by Arabs and the international community.

    Cheers

  • 41. THERESINIA | December 22nd, 2009 at 12:08 am

A brief comment from a friend who is related to politics in the USA:
USA needs to dislocate the alliance between Syria and Iran. They are promising Syria a few “good” things if they drop Iran and HA (which is considered as a top terrorist enemy in the US), and sign a peace treaty with Israel.
Europe (France) needs also to bring Syria well within the Mediterranean Union, closer to Turkey, Egypt and Israel! Lebanon is likely to benefit from this stability.

  • 42. Rima | December 22nd, 2009 at 12:13 am

    Theresina

This is also a good explanation but I am still not convinced that Saad will shake hands with someone he believes it is his father’s assassin!
    What do you think?

  • 43. THERESINIA | December 22nd, 2009 at 1:21 am

    Dear Rima,
It seems lots of pressure came also from King Abdallah of Saudi Arabia…they want to isolate Iran…
International interests are above regional politics which in turn are above local interests…

Personally, I pity Saad for doing something which certainly makes him vomit….

    Let us wait and see!

  • 44. danny | December 22nd, 2009 at 5:28 am

    Rima,

Please my dear do not exonerate a regime that has killed thousands of Lebanese and Syrians in the past 40 years just because Saad figured out that Rafiq was a two timer anyways…

Bashar and the HA terrorists are one and the same…

    Cheers

  • 45. Rima | December 22nd, 2009 at 12:21 pm

    Danny

I do believe that the Syrian regime is the worst regime in the world, a nasty filthy and very machiavellian regime!

But I always have the feeling that a pragmatic regime would never attempt to bluntly and directly kill a sunni leader of such regional and international weight …

What do you think the reason behind Saad’s visit if he really believes Assad is his his father’s assassin?

  • 46. danny | December 22nd, 2009 at 12:29 pm

    Rima,

Do not expect these morons including Saad to have any moral compass! they’d sell their mother (in this case his father’s memory) to gain a few liras…

  • 47. Rima | December 22nd, 2009 at 12:37 pm

    Danny

I don’t agree with you. There is more into the story.

If this is true than DOC and Jaafar are right.

  • 48. danny | December 22nd, 2009 at 1:28 pm

    Rima,

Let’s not get into cloak and dagger…KSA ordered Saad to make a personal symbolic visit to look his father’s killer in the ete (as paul suggested) to supposedly buddy up with Assad and try to pry the Syrian regime away from the ayatollahs..
Better and more intelligent people have tried. You should ask yourself this: What trump cards would Syria hold if it dissociated itself from a relationship of over 30 years that has served it in spades?
Do you think Bashar is looking for free elections?
Do you think he is borne again?
The Assad regime will kill and maim and spit in peoples faces and survive; not because of Persia but because the Zionist entity to the south; ISRAEL demands so!!

  • 49. danny | December 22nd, 2009 at 1:29 pm

  • 50. danny | December 22nd, 2009 at 1:33 pm

    ..and Rima,

Do you want to go back thirty years and take a count of how many people (that oppose the butchers in Damascus) have been assasinated or disappeared in Lebanon and Syria?
They got away with wiping out a whole city for God’s sakes! …and you are talking about a sunni “leader”…

Muggsy is looking down from the moon and still keeps up saying:”I wanna get my head together…”…

  • 53. danny | December 22nd, 2009 at 9:31 pm

  • 54. Rima | December 23rd, 2009 at 1:34 am

    Danny

I see your view is mainstream and makes a lot of sense. It is hard to establish a strong case for syria’s non-involvement as they were controlling Security and Intelligence.

After all, it does not seem that the Hariri Tribunal is over. I tried to follow the latest news on this subject and found this article:

    http://www.dailystar.com.lb/article.asp?edition_id=1&categ_id=2&article_id=109673

Does anyone have any insights on the matter?

    Linda

  • 55. danny | December 23rd, 2009 at 1:46 am

    Rima,

Most news is speculation. Here’s the link to the official site:
    http://www.stl-tsl.org/action/home

Now the reports are that they will commence at the beginning of 2010 as announced almost nine months back. This is a special tribunal and the first of its kind. All Syrian apologetics here as well as boot lickers can snicker all they want! In their murderous and convoluted way of thinking we should act as the battered wife!

Typical ME rn mentality. Say ma3lesh for the sake of the family and go back….Wow these knuckleheads expect us to send the raped and battered lady; that is Lebanon to the brutal murderer’s lap(that is Bachar’s regime)…for the sake of the family wallaw??

I am a firm believer that the culprits will be uncovered and the thread will lead to Damascus…

Israel has nothing to do with this…..unless it does…..wait Lebanese drop dead killed by the Syrian oppression…..but one thing you all agree on ‘Kill Israel’…..but my question is when are you going to stop killing??…..and don’t give me 2006 as an excuse to counter me …..all actions were as usual in retaliation from rocket fire specially in QANA!!!So when is Lebanon as a state going to stop killing their own and killing their neighboors??….One day from Christmas what a shame!

And the fact that the Lebanese government has officially turned down the UN resolution 1559 after a famous meeting in Beirut a couple of days ago; with the Iranian foreign minister….and the problem with 1559 ???it does not allow the Lebanese state(Hezb and others) to kill????????????Lebanon for me is officially an Iranian colony under Syrian oppression;after seing the masquarade of Harrri and Assad I am real proud to be Israeli…..at least we are free and independent and we do not suck up to Arab dictators lol!
