Yes this statement really proves that what Pakradoni said is true, Aoun’s visit to Bkerki really made him the leader of the Christians
5. kezballah | December 8th, 2009 at 1:46 pm
With all the historic statements of Bkerki especially since 2000, I don’t understand how anyone fail to see that Sfeir is the conscience of Lebanon.
This is a SOLDE not only on Hezbollah, but on Sa3ed Hariri and Walid Jonblat and all the losers who approved the bayen wizari
6. hochoz | December 8th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
Only two possible explanations for this:
1. The political Cardinal Aoun told the Patriarch what to say (ijtima3on lil terikh bayn batrak siyasiye wa akhar diniyye,,, Akhbar newspaper loool)
2. The patriarch renewed his membership with Antoine Zahra’s lebanese forces
7. Fuziyad | December 8th, 2009 at 2:05 pm
Kezballah, Sfeir wanted the government to go with the bayen as there was no real other choice while he took the responsibility of raising the tone and keep being the concience of free lebanon. Actually he even was against the tahafoz from m14 christians as he knew that this would only be used by march 8 to claim one more divine victory. Trust me the bayen was written in 100% tensi2 with bkerké, kheda menné…

Fuziyad I believe it, Bkerki never ask for confrontation so I’m not surprised if they supported the consensus for this government.
By the way you reminded I disagreed with them when they ask us not to go to Baabda on March 14 2005 because they did not want confrontation, but of course we did not insult them or question their love for Lebanon like the opposition Christians do when they don’t like something. I don’t understand Mwarnit Kiserwan-Jbeil what they are thinking, we love and respect the Maronite Patriarch from Rayfoun more than they do!? Strange world we are living in…

Although I disagree with him getting entangled in politics, I’ve got to admire his integrity and unwavering stance. He is one of the very few men out there that does not change his tune when political realities shift and force everyone to reconsider their positions! Alla ye7mi.
21. THERESINIA | December 8th, 2009 at 11:45 pm
Why do you “disagree with him getting entangled in politics”??? when all other clerics in Lebanon have the right to do so??? and when all the Christian clergy in Europe and the whole Western countries do interfere in politics, economics, environment, bioethics, justice, education, finance, juridical issues, and more!!!!
As a matter of fact have you read the:”Social Doctrin of the Catholic Church”??? All issues and aspects are included and the church deals with them entirely and fully!!!
It is not because an idiot (the caporal) said that “the Batrak must not deal with politics” that this statement has any substance!!!!

25. Ziad | December 9th, 2009 at 8:04 am
I disagree with Batrak. Weapons towards the Dakhil is not the real issue. The issue here is HA taking us to war with Israel in defence of his masters in Qum. This is the real worry !
26. Darwish | December 9th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
Theresina #21,I do not think that the head of the maronite church who essentially represents all christians in the country should further promote divisiveness within his religious community. Christians are already politically divided as it is and we do not need the batrak to make things worse by openly supporting one side. Having said that, I am not necessarily against the Patriarch and what he is doing, just the method that he is using…but in the end, he has my respect.
27. THERESINIA | December 9th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
Darwish,
The person who created division, enmity, hostility, hatred…among Christians (like never before in our History) is named THE CAPORAL.
If you want to be clear in naming one responsible: then it is the agent-caporal
(who went today begging for Syrian benediction…).
28. Darwish | December 9th, 2009 at 11:19 pm
Theresina #27, I am not absolving Aoun from responsibility as he is definitely a big part of the problem, we need a strong and unifying leader for the christians and when their spiritual leader takes sides it only makes things worse. I believe that Sfeir should be working full time to promote reconciliation and try to find some kind of compromise that will create some sort of agreement and bring the parties a bit closer than try to set them further apart.
29. Delta | December 10th, 2009 at 2:04 am
Darwish…
The truth shall be said no matter what………….
do you agree?
