Article IS OK but states the obvious.

Problem is similar with all leadership not just Christian.

What prevents newspapers, and NGO's and professional organizations from putting pressure on bad leaders and the hypocrites supporting them?

L'Orient is as guilty as the rest when they publish things like "Saniora is a statesman doing his best" and "Berri is a smart politician trying to survive and will wake up one day" and other such idiocies.

I know they criticize mildly the political class, but Christian and all leaders should be trashed BY NAME for specific actions or positions in the papers and on TV by all until they do their job or go the fuck away.

Example: 1) the resigned ministers at work: Saniora and the minister should trashed daily till it stops

2) Berri closing parliament, (why? bring out the legal scholars on TV and papers etc, force him to defend himself every fucking day)

3) Aoun et al. saying " blocking roads" is legal protest, call him to apologize and retract, and drag him to court if possible

Otherwise why would they change anything?
(One problem is also not enough independent news outlets, so we get: you leave my guy alone, I leave your guy alone)

Great Article from Michel Touma, who always write good articles.
and there is an example of this elite in Aoun's bloc, Dr. Farid el Khazen is losing a lot there, he should move away from this mad man.

Mar Yuhanna,
You have a point in what you said, and I agree with you in ur opinion about Selim Sayegh, not because he was unkown, but I think he doesn't have enough skills and capacities to be in this position.

Ziyad, I agree with you 100%, what you said represents the fact, but not only within the Christian Community, but sadly in all the Lebanese communities. Look at the Shiites, there are many Elites in this sect, but still those who are ruling are HN and Berri.

But it's not new, all the Elites and brains left Lebanon and were successful outside, and there are many examples in this regard.
I will mention some, Calos Ghosn, Michel Obeid, Massari, Michael Dabaghi, Nicola Hayek, among others.

Mar Yuhanna Maroun. The reason why there is no renewal of elites among lebanese christians is due to the mentality you just shown saying "who is salim sayegh?". What do you mean by that? you mean eben min or min attal?

The problem is that lebanese christians feel mhammachin when they are politically represented by someone who is not a warlord or a tribal chief. There is enough elite among today's christian politicians, the problem is that the public doesn't follow...
