Update 1: Here is a link where Times’ article is fully copied and you can clearly see Jumblatt’s quote:

I could have swore i read it yesterday on Naharnet or on some other site, but i went back to look for it later and could not find.

Today i decided to google it and could not find it anywhere ..

However, one blog i found quoted him :

“Walid Jumblatt, an outspoken March 14 leader told The Times that Mughniyeh’s death was “good news”, and hinted that the Hezbollah commander may have been betrayed by his Syrian allies.”

When i googled times and Jumblatt, i found a hit quoting what he said, however when you open the article you dont find the sentence, as if it was deleted ( but it keeps showing on google since its saved in the cache).

I am not sure how wise it is to say such a thing, accusing Syria of it is one thing and being happy for his assassination is a total different thing

Anyway, we ll be waiting for clarifications on that issue.

I have no right to rejoice at the death of my enemy when I do not have eternal life myself.

I’m glad to see some sanity in your post and insanity of Jumblats deterioration of Lebanese politicl affairs. Frankly, I see no benefit in Jumblats statement - if whats being claimed is true.

if jumblat is happy…he has all the rights to express himself…..we all remember what the hizbullah people were doing when march 14 leaders were killed……now.. do we have to feel sorry for this murderer?…..
i don’t feel sorry for mughnieh at all……he deserved it.

To TheCourtFool, you’re just plain fool.

Why don’t you see this terrorist thug for what he is. Have you no shame, no morals, no humanity in calling this thug what he is. And now if a politician is pleased by his demise, as all of us should, makes him insane.

Try to imagine next time your mother or child is boarding a plane and you hear it was hijacked by some thug and he’s threatening to blow it up. Try to put yourself in that mindset and then think, assuming you’re capable of such facility, what would be a just punishment for such terrorist. You live by the sword you die by the sword.

HA is not powerful because they can’t be defeated. They’re powerful because YOU PEOPLE are weak and coward. Enough with this appeasement ass kissing. Saniora and Saad paying condolences is a shame and insult to every law-obieding free Lebanese.

We need more politicans like Jumblat and Geaga to confront these backward thugs.

I definitely agree with fadi. HE WAS A TERRORIST!!!! why are we defending him? WE SHOULD be rejoicing: one of the biggest political murders the world has ever seen is dead!
Even if i say hezbollah did the same thing when our politicians died that wouldn’t be right: our politicians died innocent men standing up for what they thought (and knew) was right. This person on the other hand was a criminal, a murderer who god knows could have been behind the assassinations. Why would anyone defend him or his memory is beyond me.
even “mazbalat al tarikh” would be too good for him, “ila ma2barat el tarikh” i say!

    I agree 100% with fadi.
He is a TERRORIST, a MURDERER a CRIMINAL!
I wouldn’t even say that we are returning the favor for what Hezbollah did when our politicians were getting slaughtered. Our politicians were innocent men killed for standing up for what they knew was right. Imad on the other hand was a political murderer who god knows could have been the one slaughtering our men, as he was quite skilled at it. You wanna defend him and his memory? defend that of Ben Laden while you are at it, as they are, in the long run, one and the same. As for me, i think that “mazbalat el tarikh” would be too good for him
