If i were Samir Geagea, i would have opposed this understanding between Alawites & Sunnites in Tripoli not in its points, but in its political context.
What was achieved in Tripoli ?? All parties agreed to hide their guns either under their clothes or in their houses and calm down for the month of Ramadan probably and then things will go out of control again !
Added to that, it is not a ceasefire that a prime minister should be after, but rather a disarming of all militias there. Instead, and that is by far the funniest comment i heard, Tripoli MOU asks indirectly to ban armed people from the streets ( mane3 el mazahir el moussalla7a), which means you guys can keep your guns, but keep them away for now …
Finally, The Salafists rising in the North are a clear & present danger, and this MOU helped putting them back on the political scene and recognized officially their influence now..
If we dont oppose all that, why did we oppose the MOU between Hezbollah & Salafists then ?

- Rodge: N, You could be right here, since I don’t have much information about his background, but all I know in this regard is that he’s been involved and still with the Army intelligence.
N10452: Rodge, With all due respect to Pussy, but he is a man after a chair .. and that is quite sad .. and he is not as straight nor as good as u think ..trust me on that ..

Rodge: To be honest, and regardless his political background and his stance close to Aoun and against the LF leadership, I personally think Poussy is a good man, and I know him in person, the man has lots of friends...

Klem 7ilo N10452.
Trust me , they just made a huge mistake there. This is just part of the political cover up for the 09 election. Wait and see my freind…
People see what they want to see, but naked facts don’t lie. And neither do the photos of the extremist holding saad’s pictures when they invaded achrafiyeh few yrs ago.
There is only one conclusion to be drawn from all these shady moves by saad and co : They need every single vote out there in Tripoli even if they have to cover and support what so called the salafis in other word ” wahabis”..
Seriously now, Does this guy stand by anything ??? Another foreign agenda and thats it…

Actually,
You cannot disarm one party and leave the others so what the government did was appeasing these guys as it already did with HA….so it is not an MOU between one party and another it is a governmental policy of appeasement based on the status quo which we all oppose. The al bayan el wizari is like a unpleasant MOU between HA and the government…so what is your point?
When the governmnet is able to confront HA, it will do likewise with other parties in Lebanon…I still think HA is way more dangerous than the salafis because of their long-term strategy, military power and public support. I think Syria is behind the blast of the bus carrying the army soldiers…its alawites followers did it.
We oppose the MOU between HA and Tayyar because it gives a voluntary, blatant and free Christian cover to HA’s dirty politics in Lebanon…for no apparent reason except cashing on some mal naziif and for voting purposes

N,
I would like people on this post to be careful not to give personal information because some Intelligence agents(HA, Iranian, Syrians and others) might use blogs and other means…in a harmful way.
I found this link informative although it applies to Israelis but same can apply to LF:

You NEVER do MOU with agents! Whoever they work for…
Salafists work for Saudi Arabia, Al Qaeda, etc..
HizbIRAN work for Iran….
These are agents. FULL STOP.

As often, the al akhbar titles explain the motives of march8 tricks. “Triploi breaks unilateral representation” ah walla?? meaning if it gets back to unilateral representation it may have problems again? does it mean that future movement is not allowed to win the elections there? This is only a truce, once we get closer to elections FM will have either to put m8 names on half of its list, or ??? al akhbar didn’t say it yet but as for explosions or security events they will announce it before it happens(is it only because of their analysis talent??)
9. paul | September 9th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
we must get used to that the problems in the future will be resolved like in Iraq. because in both countries the army has failed.

The Salafis are the real problem in the North. Why doesn’t Hariri send some charismatic, *moderate* imams to preach in the North and win the war of ideas within the Sunni population there?
I’ll tell you why: Because there’s not much of a difference between a Salafi and any other *religious* Sunni. Just look at Mufti Qabbani.
12. Tarek | September 9th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
I agree this new MOU sucks. We don’t need a MOU, we need more arms to fight all Syrian/Iranian militias. Hopefully a resistance will soon start in the north and spread to all Lebanon.

Did anyone see the new video of al Quaeda? Zawahiri said that he considers that the iranians are allied to the “Salibyin” and the crusaders..he also mentioned christian MP in iran.
He said that the main objective now is to target crusaders and salibyin everywhere in the islam world including lebanon..
This situation is becoming very delicate, the other day a moslem sunni friend of mine told me that an imam in “Mar Elias” is preaching and saying that it is “Halal” to kill “mouchrikin”= Christians !!!!!!
We are becoming officially a country like Afghanistan,Christians will be targeted everywhere across lebanon..Salafists are gaining power every day, and by “creating” this illusional MOU, we are officially recognizing these pple as a political force while we should instead qualify them as terrorists..
I didn’t want to say this but its becoming clear to me: There are no moderate sunni there are only Hypocrite Sunni

Another Aspirin pill to Lebanon’s desease.
Just like they stopped everything last Ramadan, then started attacking the govt afterwards, they will do the same this year.
They get a peacefull Ramadan and we get a stressfull Christmas
15. paul | September 9th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
haha Mickel, who knows what the future brings that´s why :”MERRY CHRISTMAS MICKEL”
16. sam | September 9th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
now you know why oun is clever guyes .. he knows to whom he should be allied
17. Omega | September 10th, 2008 at 12:19 am
deep down they know that aoun is right but they don’t want to admit because they hate the man and they don’t care about lebanon or christians as long as they get rid of aoun.
in other words, aoun is their target and not a free healthy lebanon.
i pitty kids who think like they do.
18. Mickel | September 10th, 2008 at 1:13 am
Thank you Paul

Merry Christmas to you too.

Nothing but a political cover up. This is going to cost the 14th of march alliance alot of pain.
After a lot of blood sweat and tears in naher al berid and suburbs , saad decided to end all the clashes by pulling all the radical wahabi fighters out of the street for right now !!! This is called I3DET INTICHAR in arabic.
It looks good at this time, but then, wait a minute, it’s going to cost a lot of blood in the future. Wahabis are running the show, and soon enough the show will reach the Christians-Shiaa areas and then… Bi kun fet al $%%^ bi ti$ al yehudeh …
You guys must act now.
PS: walkun tinsso chu sar bil achrafiyeh few yrs ago?!!

Omega, although u r really noty worth to talked to in a serious manner, but have u ever wondered why Aoun is hated by the majority of the christians???
Why would lebanese seeking peace n prosperity hate Aoun?
Rami, how cute it is that a muslim friend of urs tell u that they r preaching in a mosque to kill christians??? Duuuuuuuuuh!
23. kezballah | September 10th, 2008 at 9:40 am
Ali shou bek nezil fina PS PS in every post
Ya khayye PS the LF were the first to build community when the government disappeared in the civil war, did you hear of LF popular committees they did more to help people in the war than the government did before the war years, don’t you hear now LF opening medical clinics everywhere, the jem3a sha3biye, the student organizations, the martyr masses and taking care of war handicaps, you may not be impressed but they are doing and building all the time since 1975, what is the tayyar doing and what did they ever do? celebrating the election of Gibran Bassil with shooting and injuring people this is building community?
And PS we will never forget what happen in Achrafie by Salafis but you seem to forget what Hezbollahis did in Achrafie after your Charbel Khalil dare to mention Nasrallah, what they did in Ayn Rimmene when they feel like going out to burn tires. LF doesn’t need lessons from Tayyar about building community, we didn’t block Nahr Kalb and Jdeide with tires and rocks last year it is Tayyar building community who did it.

Rami
May I know regarding which subject I am considered unrealistic?
26. Kevin | September 10th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
yea wahabis are dangerous, theyll kill anyone who is not wahabi, so whether ur with Saad or not, wahabis are coming. these guys kill anyone, kids, women, nothing matters. Ive heard that in Pakistan theyre preaching that the more bombs you attach to yourself, the higher up in heaven you will be. Theyve hijacked Islam, and if they gain even more power were all screwed, be it LF, HA, FPM, etc, but most of all, Lebanon.
27. Patrick | September 11th, 2008 at 3:43 am
hijacked islam? man, these aren’t muslims who have hijacked islam… these are simply muslims who practice-their-religion. it’s time for us to wake up.
28. Michele | September 11th, 2008 at 7:08 am
