  Ok , esper, lets get real then . If we want to encourage lebanese politicians to attend these kind of fishy visits and receive support so that they can join the american plan in the region, then we should be willing to provide them with some REAL support , not just empty words here and there. Now the american gov should tie significant reforms to any program they want to implement. REFORM NOT WARS .

  USA had no problem holding lebanon hostage for 33 days (july war) to achieve a destrcutive victory, but never succeed. USA had no prb watching the lebanese army getting bashed by fata7 al islam BIL3KESS they sent us old military equipment, alot of it didnt operate properly…………… I’d like to see, for once, a real non-violence american support.

  Isnt this a solution considering the Complication of the Lebanese scenario ?

  For those who believe that the 1960s elections law is good for the christian, or at least can represent them in a good way, I want to clarify this issue:

  1- When Frangieh suggests this law, it’s not because he cares about the right of christians, but because he thinks that he will have better chance in his own area to be re-elected as a Zghorta deputy.

  2- The Patriarche, regardless if we agree on his opinions or not, but i don’t think he’s a weak personnality to listen to others and abide by their sayings, so when he refused the mentioned law lately, it was because he knows that it cannot represent the christians anymore.

  3- 48 years have passed since that law was issued, and many things changes in the demographic distribution of the Lebanese religions, since at that time the Christians counted for about 60% of the Lebanese community, while they represent not more than 35% now.

  4- Therefore, we should try to agree a new law which could ensure the rights of all the sects and religions in Lebanon, so the Christians could elect 64 deputies and the Muslims can elect the same number, or at least as mush as we can.

  5- the following are some of the neagtive aspects of the 1960 law on Christians, which means if we organize elections by this law, the following will occur:
  * In Aley, Shias and Druzes will decide on the 3 christian deputies.
  * In Baabda, the same where Shias and Druzes will elect the 3 Christian Deputies.
  * In Shouf, Druzes and Muslims will elect the 4 Christian Deputies.
  * In Zahrani, one Christian Deputy will come with the Shias and Sunnis votes.
  * In Marjeyoun & Hasbia, the one Christian deputy will be decided by the Muslims votes.
  * In Akkar, also the Sunnis will elect the 3 Christian Deputies.
  * In Tripoli, the Muslims again will decide who will be the 2 Christian Deputies.
  * In Baalback & Hermel, the Muslims will elect the 2 Christian Deputies.
  * In Western Bekaa & Rachya, also the Muslims will elect the 2 Christian Deputies.

  So the result: 21 Christian Deputies will be elected by the Muslims, added to the 6 Deputies of Beirut being elected also by the Muslims according to the 3 Departments system, which makes 27 out of 64 Deputies elected by the Muslims.

  In return, only 3 Muslim Deputies will be elected by Christian votes, 2 of them are Shiaas in Jbeil and Zahle, and one Sunni in Zahle.

  I’m not saying that the actual law of 2000 is better, it is even worse, but why not searching a new law that could bring all the Lebanese parties their rights, and why we should agree on a law that was agreed 48 years ago just to satisfy some politicians at that time, so now we’ll bring it on again to satisfy another shit of politicians who are abiding by what Syria says.

  Isn’t Bachar who first suggested this law again???
