Before Aounists jump and post this video, i thought i post it and clarify to all readers why there is no contradiction.

However, i should point out that this was broadcasted on Manar TV yesterday, and uploaded and spread today by Orangists, which is truly saddening, since it shows how destructive Aoun has become to our community ..

Who would have imagined Aounists being hooked to Manar TV ?? eh walla te3teer .

Back to our topic,

31/08/1988 ( per the video).

Hakim is arguing how it is our right to boycott the session if we want to make a stand and block someone from getting to presidency, HOWEVER he never argues that the 50+1 is illegal constitutionally and does not say it is LEGALLY required to have the 2/3. Added to that, he does not claim that we have the right to block the elections as a whole and create chaos, but rather block the elections to disable a certain person from being elected.

Added to that, that was in 1988 when we were invaded by Syrians and it was our right as a resistance to boycott elections and stop the Pro-Syrian candidate from winning and it was coordinated with General Aoun.

09/11/2007 :
Hakim states that 50+1 is legal as per the constitution and states which article justifies it.

    We should put what HA talk in 1988 about that Lebanon is Shiaa and the christians arrive after in Lebanon and then listening to AOun and TAyyar.

    wasn’t parliamentary seats quotas changed after Taef?? AFTER 1988? I think this means Christians held more seats before Taef..

    Well hakim has already been asked about what he tried to do in 1988. He said it honestly that he was trying to stop the elections in 1988 when there was Syrian occupation. That is clear enough, for who want to listen. I really can’t understand the aounist. I can understand hizbulla, they are not lebanese after all, they don’t have this sense of belonging. They have other ideas for lebanon. However I can’t get the aunists. I really can’t!

    Folks, the Dastour was changed in 1990 and article 49 in particular was changed in 1990. So what the 7akim said in 1988 has no relevance to the 1990 Dastour which is very clear.

    He is right as to the new article 49. The 2/3 relates in the 1990 article 49 to the number of votes. You can win on the first balot by 2/3 or on the second balot by 50+1. That is a common article in most parlamentary and party elections around the world. There is no mystery here.

    In 1988, we were applying the old constitution where the PRESIDENT has the full right to assign PM, ministers, employees…… and so he needed that IJMA3 or at least 2/3 to secure there will be NO OFFENCE on any sect especially Muslims. where the number of Christians in the parliament was more than Muslims.

    This was in the past, but after that there was Taef agreement with totally different rights and regulations.

    So comparing 1988 to 2007 is NOT VALID at all since we are comparing two different constitutions.
