Do you consider Syria an enemy ?
Posted by N10452Here is a poll i started today:
Is Syria an enemy ?? To me, its like asking me if i breathe or not ..
However, there are still people who find ways to say Syria is not an ennemy, but an Arab country who helped us ..
Can you imagine a French defending Hitler for invading France and walking on the Champs Elysees ?? Can you imagine an American defending the Japanese for their attack on Pearl Harbor ? Can you imagine a Japanese defending the Americans for dropping the A-bomb on Hiroshima ??
As irrational and idiotic as that may seem, we have such people in Lebanon, Mainly our dear Hezbollah supporters ..
Check out their logic :
“Syria is an Arab country. You can’t take to court any Lebanese that deals with Syria. If you believe otherwise, well i wish you luck…..”
A traitor is that who helps the enemy against his own people.
Did the people of Lebanon define Syria as enemy? The answer is a big NO
The martyrs who died, the families who lost their sons and relatives, the houses that got destroyed, the hospitals that got bombed, the politicians & Journalists that got killed … all those according to this twisted Hezbollah logic say NOOOO Syria is our best friend !
If i were president, i would issue a law asking any Lebanese who supports Syria and does not consider it an enemy to pack his bags and leave to Syria, or else i will kick him out myself ..

If you’d have to put it black or white, with or against, yes or no… I’d prefer using a spectrum. My political inclination ideology is that Today, in 2007, I am dark shaded towards Syria being a threat full nation towards Lebanon, with other neighborly nations with bad intentions as well.
No Lebanese, Especially pointing the finger at Hezbollah, is defending Lebanon and Not Syria, and is more Lebanese than we might think in our times.
Confused? well I can be March 14 and regard Hezbollah as an Honorable Compatriot.
As well as be a normal Lebanese Citizen that takes care of Lebanese points of views, and will defend their right to express it regardless if I agree with it.

Syria considers Lebanon as PART of Syria. The maps in Syria showed the words “IQLIM al GHARBY” instead of Lebanon.
Syria has never recognized the sovereignty of Lebanon.
Since the 50’s Syria has been regularly closing its borders to forbid the INTERLAND transportation towards Jordan, Iraq, S.A., etc…
Syria has levied taxes on the PORT of BEIRUT, on Transportation, on the Casino, on Import/Export, on Agriculture, as well as on some major industries (cement, etc.).
Syria has imposed on Lebanon to steal its electricity, its telephone system, and even its SUBSIDISED WHEAT and BREAD.
Since 1975, Syria has depleted the economy of Lebanon. In 30 years of occupation it has stolen from Lebanon more than 20 BILLION DOLLARS !!! In addition, the Lebanese Central Bank possesses 700 million Syrian Pounds, which Syria refuses to take back!!!!
(you can play MONOPOLY with it…).
Politically, Syria has used the Lebanese occupation for its own interests (financially and economically). Syria has forced all ARAB countries to pay BILLIONS for its PEACEFUL troops in Lebanon.
Syria has killed, tortured, handicapped, assassinated, thousands of Lebanese People. Syria has destroyed HOSPITALS, SCHOOLS, MONASTERIES, CHURCHES, MOSQUES, HOUSES, etc. which account for billions of losses. The cost of our Martyrs is PRICELESS (they have systematically assassinated our best).
Syria has implemented one of the most sophisticated “ISTIKHBARAT” systems in Lebanon (copied from the East Germans). This system is still FULLY OPERATIONAL.
Syria is not an enemy. IT IS THE ENEMY.
WE SHOULD never, NEVER forget it.
P.S: every person who spoke or wrote against Syria has been eliminated since AL LAOUZI and until TODAY!!!!

Nice comment and we ask the Aouniste, do you remember Syria in Lebanon? Shame on you Michel Aoun.

I’d say the Syrian Regime is Lebanon’s ONLY Enemy.
I would distiguish between the current “government”/Butchers and Syria as a nation, although its predecessors have not been kind to us either…
6. Rodge | October 25th, 2007 at 10:48 am
Yes the Syrian regimes (in Plural), not only the current Assad Regime, were the worse ennemy for Lebanon as a country.
Since the 40’s, All the Syrian regimes, and some of the people, tried to undermine Lebanon, for the sole reason, because they envy us for being much better on all levels.
Our conflicts with Syria is even older than with Israel, and Syria has attempted to kiil everything and everyone showing what Lebanon really is.
N10452,
In this regard, i have an old map that shows Lebanon bigger than what actual is, i will scan and send it to you maybe you can show it here. Just wanted to know which e-mail i send it to.
In conclusion yes Syria is an ENNEMY.
7. Mohammad | October 25th, 2007 at 11:02 am
I think you (N) meant Syrian REGIME not Syria as a nation, right? Because we don’t hate JEWS but hate Israel.
Anyway, Syria has a FABULOUS SHAMEFULL record in Lebanon where I consider it the VAMPIRE in the region. But, till when????
Bashar is not greater than Hitler, or Shawsesko, or Saddam, or….. and we all saw their ENDS.
8. THERESINIA | October 25th, 2007 at 11:15 am
MOHAMMAD,
You are ABSOLUTELY right in EVERY word. I am indeed talking about the regime, not the people, not the nation. And you are SO right to say that every dictatorship has an end. I also LOVE your word of VAMPIRE, beacuse they have SO MUCH destroyed our economy and impoverished our people.
President SARKOZY, mentioned yesterday from Morocco (while adressing SYRIA):
“Syria must leave Lebanon independent, and must understand that Lebanon has the right to have free elections…Assassinations in Lebanon are not a method and they should cease…”.
In “diplomatic” terms, this shows the degree to which Syria has been and still is destructive to Lebanon…

Syria : waged many wars against lebanon and invaded lebanon
Israel : Invaded lebanon many times, bombed and ruined to country , sent us half million palestinian , and is refusing to take them back
Iran : Sending weapons to HA which you guys hate
America : Kissinger plan , Replace the christians by the Palestinians , Send the Christians in America and Europe and Australia
Sent us in the 1970 , ships to remove massively the christians out of lebanon
KSA : Creating terrorist cells in sunni extremist areas , like fateh al islam and sending light weapons to tayyar al mustakbal
What is the conclusion of all this ?
EVERYONE is the enemy of LEbanon ….
This is politics peeps , in politics there is no long term enemy or ally . the alliances or wars are forged on the interest of every nation with the other…
I woudlnt mind saying that Syria is our enemy , as long as we acknowledge that everyone is the enemy of lebanon ….We have only ONE ally …a long term ally
that would be God almighty
10. Mohammad | October 25th, 2007 at 2:43 pm
THERESINIA,
Unfortunately, those Syrians will not listen to Sarkozy because his speech has a lot of WORDS that are not in their dictionary: independent, free election, sovereignty… They only listen when you talk to them the same way TURKY did few years ago when the TURKISH army was ready at the boarders waiting for orders to enter if HAFEZ AL ASSAD doesn’t give them OJALAN.
God bless our country.
11. ali | October 25th, 2007 at 4:00 pm
guys you have to distinguish between syria itself and their regime,, offcourse i agree that the syrian regime was for 3 decades and probably still an enemy to lebanon,, and that assaad is just as bad as olmert, but the syrians can’t do much and its the case with all arab nations,, egypt, jordan etc they all have interests in our country and their political system is a threat to all of us..as for hezbollah defending syria, it does not benefit the syrians at all, in fact the syrians are ready to call for peace with israel anytime, the idea that hezbollah is maintaing that if syrians will make peace with israel, then they will have to disarm, and make the israeli northern territories safe from any attacks, in return the israelis will have to give credit back to syria by letting them control northern areas of lebanon like it used to be (highly christian condensed areas),, so to speak hezbollah is indirectly protecting christians in lebanon maybe without realising that..
As for israel they won’t put their trust again in christians, since pres. bashir gemayl refused to fulfill their interests even after the forces had signed treaties with israel before. So israel would rather put their hands with syria and share Lebanon together rather than fighting with syrians, so the presence of hezbollah in lebanon is useful to some extent.
12. fadi | October 25th, 2007 at 4:53 pm
oh yes they are the enemy exactly like israel if not more
syrian regime has killed, tortured and prisoned more lebanese than israel have and that is support to be a sisterly country
fuck them and whoever likes them
13. paul | October 25th, 2007 at 6:14 pm
most of us consider syria an anemy.
but what you think when you read something like” Thousands of Iraqi Christians flee to Syria”?
14. Danny | October 25th, 2007 at 6:18 pm
Paul,
They are all coming to Lebanon through Syria. Where else can they travel through ?
15. Rodge | October 25th, 2007 at 6:20 pm
So what about taht paul??
There are Christians in Syria too, and we didn’t say Syria is against Christians, we said against Lebanese disregard their religions.
Also, just to clarify the issue, Syria is benefitting too much froim those Iraqis, because they are wealthy people and they’re entering too much money into the country.
You can ask any Syrian if you know someone living there.
So please, stop chaging the discussions direction.
16. christian | October 25th, 2007 at 6:31 pm
happy birthday hakimmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !!!!!! sorry shabeb barat l sujet
17. paul | October 25th, 2007 at 6:38 pm
It was only a question only to think deeper about this problem without spontaneous answers. We do not want to be naive and believe that a democracy in syrien is better to the christen in syrien and lebanon.
18. paul | October 25th, 2007 at 6:57 pm
*syria
19. LF Forever | October 26th, 2007 at 8:45 am
Why the Syrian people don’t fight against Assad, strongly? most people like him I guess! We can’t save the Syrian such much. A lot of soldier were in Lebanon and they know the situation of the Assad regime! they should fight for the freedom, if not I consider them the same. Sorry I am not generalzing but this is fact…enough is enough…F*** all of them, for now and after we will see if they are nice. Don’t forget guys that the Syrian study Lebanon as a region of Syria and not another country. So, figure.
20. M.N. | October 26th, 2007 at 8:58 am
ya ma7la l “enemy”!!!!!!!!!!!!
21. Tarek | October 28th, 2007 at 10:15 am
Syria is an enemy, regardless if it has been before or it is now, or it’s the regime not the people…that is all bullshit. Syria is an enemy and we should act accordingly. However this is not the greatest threat to Lebanon. Syria would not have acted toward Lebanon this way if there were no pro-Syrians in Lebanon. The real danger in Lebanon is that there is a good percentage of the Lebanese who are actually enemies of Lebanon. Most dangerously they are heavily armed. I really can’t see the day when there will be a real state in Lebanon where only the state is armed. Sincerely, I can’t see Lebanon getting it’s independence any soon unless something dramatic happens.
22. Tarek | October 28th, 2007 at 10:20 am
Speaking of the enemy, I always have this comparison between syria and israel:
israel wants peace with lebanon, syria don’t, it just wants to rule it.
israel is ready for ta7deed il 7dood, syria is not
israel would love to have deplomatic relations with lebanon, syria don’t
israel has few lebanese prisoned in, syria has hundreds
the list just goes on….
That does not mean that israel is a friend, but comparing to syria, it’s friendly!
23. Tarek | October 28th, 2007 at 10:39 am
From Arze:
“KSA : Creating terrorist cells in sunni extremist areas , like fateh al islam”
are you crazy!? KSA is sending terrorist cells to lebanon!? don’t you people know anything about politics!!!!?? So you think KSA and NOT syria sent fati7 il islam!? Why do you always have do defend syria!?
2nd arze, yes everycountry wants something from Lebanon, but not everybody “wants Lebanon” ! Syria just wants Lebanon, it wants to rule it, others like israel, USA or anyother country, they don’t “want Lebanon”.
3rd arze, your attitude suggest that we should either consider them all countries enemies, or not, which means you want the lebanese to consider syria as an enemy only if they considered all others enemies, and that is very pro-syrian attitude!
4th arze, people like you are also enemy of Lebanon, and unfortunately your kind has demised Lebanon, and I really think that when you have like 40% or even more of the Lebanese have no sense of belonging to lebanon, Lebanon is a failed country and nation.
