This week, Lebanon’s new national unity government is slated to announce its ministerial statement (bayan waziri), the policy document that will define Beirut’s working parameters and agenda through the spring 2009 elections. For the pro-West majority March 14 coalition, the priority will be to incorporate into the statement a reference to UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1701, which prohibits weapons movement to Hizballah and expands government sovereignty throughout Lebanon. Hizballah, for its part, will look to maintain the legitimacy of “the resistance.” Although March 14 still maintains a government majority, three years of hostility and self-inflicted wounds have left the ruling party dramatically weakened, making it unclear whether the coalition will be able to prevent Hizballah from consolidating further political gains.

Hezbollah are a terror organization they need the weapons because they are nothing without them, without the weapons they are just backwards mullas. No way Hezbollah will give up weapons they will start new problems and Aoun will use it to get more money from Iran.

Mark my words, Al bayan al wizari will never see the light. At best, it will only justify continuing such tactics by the 14th of march while the situation remains the same.

We now have to deal with Daw7a agreement b4 even calling each others for a round table meeting !!!!

Yalla give it another 6 month or so …
    Again , mark my words..

    Kezballah

Are you gonna protect me if i give up my weapon ? I dont think so .. You can barley protect your ownself and most of the time you rely on foreign forces to do so (ie. ouwet rade3 3rabiye samir geagea) ….

Until WHEN can we tolerate “A STATE WITHIN THE STATE”…

The more we accept, the more they will become the STATE !!!

The more we become “carpets” the more they attain their objectives…

    Doc 1559,
If we are going with the mentality that if you take my weapons you will not be able to protect me, so let us all have weapons!!!!!!
So give the LF weapons, ichtirakieh, future,…etc….
this is a mentality of gangs and mafia!!!
what is the government for then???? why to have police and army??? let every gang to get their own weapons and make their own laws!!!!
If hizballa don’t trust our gov. , why should we????
No one should be above the law….

MARK MY WORDS says ali 1559…is it because you got us used to great analysis that we should??

The bayen wizaré is being obstructed by sir Mohammed de Fneish who is opposing any word other than mouqawama, moumana3a, samir el funtar and sayyid hassin….m14 and even gebran bassil after a few drinks are resisting for now but for how long?? hezb as per its habits has allready started threatening them back physically and has set fire in many forests as a first message…
If m14 keeps resisiting then expect some explosions soon…what will happen then?? probably one more capitulation…

I think m14 should keep using the bayen wizari issue to put the tayyar/hizbos alliance in face of its contradiction…other than that we will have to end up accepting wafic safa orders or go into civil war…

  • 8. VOR | July 24th, 2008 at 2:37 pm

How many times do we have to accept the fact that Hizb al shaytan will not part ways with its arsenal? Either we accept it and put this issue behind us and be screwed, or we face them down and accept the consequences, arm all parties and be ready for the next round…there is no middle ground anymore. We’re screwed anyways folks.

    Fuziyad,

Fneish’s only job is to see to it that everyone is reminded that these weapons are off limits and to reminds them what happened last time they made decisions regarding these matters..it’s all about intimidation and bullying…M14 is screwed and will have to back down unless they’re ready to stand up and throw down the gauntlet, something that will eventually degenerate into a conflict…but it it’s more convenient at this time to be vacationing on the beach, than to say no to the devil and take a chance on having to fight him!

  • 11. kezballah | July 24th, 2008 at 10:52 pm

Doc you said mark my words about Aoun being the only president, we are not Nasrallah and Bashar and Bush we can not be 100% sure. BUT I agree the bayen wizari will never see the light because M8 want to continue carrying weapons.

Can I protect you if you give the weapons? the question is wrong, it is not my job to protect you and it si not your job to protect yourself, we all work together in the government to protect ourselves. It is better than your protection now because now I don’t like you and if I have a chance to take your arms by force I will use it, but if we are all united on defense by the army we are all stronger.

  • 12. kezballah | July 24th, 2008 at 10:53 pm

Well said by nevermind I agree wit you!

    Maher

    From both …

    Nevermind

In violation of all international agreements and morality, Israel has never allowed us to build a strong army or gov. We have been their war target for the last 30 yrs. We have been suffering their ”once a decade” war …

Israeli aircraft fly over Lebanon routinely to monitor our daily life style while our brave army-Un troops- police stations are only watching . This is why we need our WEAPONS YA AFANDEH. I am agaisnt the gang mentality ya nevermind but life has taught us to be the way we are. Lets build a strong army my freind and then we’ll talk about STRATIJIYE DIFE3IYEH. OH, I guess we’re not allowed to have a strong aemy. Thanks for the americans!!

Quote : You were born with wings. Why prefer to crawl through life? ;) We’re not going to crawl , we wanna fly high!!!

    Fuziyad

Civil war is the last card to be played on the lebanese table. Peace will come when M14 walks the TALK thay are famous for . Wanna unity ? Work for it…

  • 14. Doc 1559 | July 25th, 2008 at 7:28 am
