Anyone recalls ?
Posted by N10452Few weeks ago, during an interview with Dr.Geagea, he was asked about the paper Hizbullah presented to the government and 7iwar parties and he proposed that special UN forces should be sent to the South to prevent both sides from starting a war and that Hizbullah should be neutralized.
Well it is looking like the only solution nowadays is what Hakim proposed.
Too bad no one listened to him neither to Jumblatt when they warned about Hizbullah’s potential of starting a regional war.
I ll try to get the newspaper article where he quoted that and post it again.

Well, this is a blog for Lebanese military? Can you explain this thing about “international forces”: are they going to fight with Hezbullah, or not? If they are not going to fight, how would they prevent Hezbollah from taking their positions back? If they are going to fight, how are they going to inflict less civilian casualties? By not shooting back? By going with nightsticks and capsicum spray against heavy machine guns? And who will be that selfless - French?
All htis “international forces” thing sounds like another load of BS, sorry. There are two nations that suffer from Hezb - Israeli and Lebanese - all others would agree to travel to Lebanon, but wouldn’t fight.. While Lebanese military whimp, cry and complain, IDF is the only force fighting with Hezb. You believe you can knock Hezb with less civilian casualties - do it, that’s your country.

It really is too bad that the Lebanese gov’t./military and their Israeli counterparts have not been able between themselves to remove Hezbollah without it coming to this.
Hopefully there will soon be better days for both countries.

First of all, just to clarify, this is a Lebanese Forces blog and not a Lebanese Armed Forces blog. There’s a huge difference between the two. One has a Syrian puppet for a leader and the other has a loyal and noble leader who is a REAL Lebanese.
Secondly, what Samir Geagea was suggesting was to disarm Hizballah with minimal conflict. Whether that would have worked or not is a guess. But if it was implemented his plan failed we would get in the same situation we are currently in. So…it would have worth a shot.
Either way, Hizballah is being and will be disarmed in the not-too-distant future and that’s a good thing for everybody in the region. Except of course Iran and Syria but who cares about them. Iran will never achieve in Lebanon what they did in Iran because they too will soon face the consequences of their actions.

Terry,
The Lebanese Forces were once the armed branch of the historical Kataeb party that was founded back in the early 80s to defend the Christian regions from the Palestinians and Syrians knowing that the army was divided and unable of defending the civilians.
It later on was turned into a political party after Taef agreement and now is a major political party in the country.
What Dr.Geagea proposed was not UN peacekeeping forces but something similar to what the UN and US r proposing now, a force formed from NATO that will be armed and capable of acting.
Of course Dr.Geagea insists that Hizbullah should be disarmed first but his proposal was for future conflicts that might be started.
