    Good post .

a,Israel continues to act systematically to promote the tawtin agenda in Lebanon.

b,We the Lebanese have no other choice but to accept tawtin , per mr.najem :

c, this tawtin wll only be destrcutive to Lebanon. How will lebanon look with a sunni majority on the ground?? Another tyical mid-eastern country maybe ??

d,Geographically speaking, Lebanon is small to meet the needs of federalism.

e,Lebanese are bunch of sectarians/racists in general ,and will probably start a new civil war the minute you divide them into federal counties.

Lastly, federalism is usualy a division of powers.. a division between the state and the fed.. both state and fed are a huge faikure in lebanon !! Fix the current corrupt system first and then ask for federalism.. badak county la berii w county la junblat w county la saad and divide char2iyeh char2iyten we7de la geagea w we7de la aoun ?? lol w we7de la gmayel a7ssan ma yiza3l sami !!

You obviously have no clue what Federalism is :-)

  • 3. fad14 | September 12th, 2009 at 2:23 pm

I can’t quite understand whats the big fuss about “Tawteen” they have been living here for 61 years+ and in 20 more years, there won’t be any palesetianian alive who was not born in Lebanon.

    Increase in Muslim population ?
Well its a fact with and without tawteen.

Give them passports and don’t give them voting rights.
Let them go study in proper schools and earn a decent living.
Let them work for labor and stop the 1 million Syrians from taking those jobs.

Give them the same rights that were given to:
Armenians, Christian Syrians, and now Christian Iraqis.

  • 4. SmaSh | September 12th, 2009 at 3:03 pm

    fad14
give them rights in your house, never in Lebanon

I dont care if we gave rights for christian Armenians/Syrians/Iraqis.

Mamnou3 el phalastize yekhoud 2ay chi mina be libnen.

We need Federalism or else ra7it 3alayna.

  • 5. fad14 | September 12th, 2009 at 4:03 pm

    Ra7it min Zamen ya SmaSh.

this is what i am trying to say, things are different and many people are still living in 1920.

Many Palestinians want to leave Lebanon and if given passports, they would immigrate or change country.

But if you believe in Human Rights, we need to give them at least a passport and the right to work and earn a decent living.

FYI: I would never forgive what they did to Lebanon or forget how much sorrow and pain they have caused everyone.

  • 6. Alyssa | September 12th, 2009 at 4:08 pm

Fad14 the big deal is Why should palestinians be given nationality after what they did in Lebanon?
Where is the honour in that? providing a group of foreigners with better means & rights when most your countrymen are forced to live in exile for political or economic reasons. How is that fair?
When millions of Lebanese abroad cant get hold on nationality because they wernt registered at a certain date.
When they have thousands of Lebanese blood on their hand & tried to exterminate the christians. Never once did they apologize, but
    still blame us.
even now they caused us greif.
They should of been expelled no question. like Kuwait did.
The only people who would want palestinians to stay are some sectarian Sunnites who want to boast their sects numbers and influence. Since 1/3-1/4 of sunnis in Lebanon are Palestinians. Just like Hariri did in 1990s by giving tawteen to over 500,000 syrians. I fear hariri Jr will do the same if given the chance. No guys this doesnt mean I support majnoun.
only that we should be cautious.

Smash we dont need federalism as much as we need the palestinians out of Lebanon.
Enough is enough. We make it out like them leaving Lebanon is not an option.
Is this how weak our nation has become?
Ask the other other arab nations to take these people.
Tawteen or no Tawteen their presence alone is too much.

  • 7. Alyssa | September 12th, 2009 at 4:13 pm

    Fad14

if they want to leave lebanon and the only way be them getting passports than fine.

Give them Saudi,Egyptian,Syrian,Moroccan,Canadian or any passport but not Lebanese.

Fadi prior the war they did have better rights many palestinians studied here and freedom, even their own politcal freedom when most the arab countries forbade that.
yet how did they repay Lebanon?
Stop making it out that we owe them something when the truth is we have suffered enough for their cause.

  • 8. fad14 | September 12th, 2009 at 4:15 pm

    Alyssa
500,000 Syrians given Nationality in 1990 where all christians and Armenians.
Michael El Murr did that for your information to boost his elections and control the relation with Tashnag. Most of those given the nationality where in Lebanon for less than 10 years and today they occupy jobs legally and you can’t even object that or contest it and they voted against him in the last elections.

Sunnis are already 1/3 of the population, check the stats of the last elections and even if they become 1/2 or 3/4 they are toothless and 7th of May shows you what 1/3 of the population can do.

  • 9. paul | September 12th, 2009 at 5:24 pm

if they marry for nationality they will probebly marry to 99% sunni womens, practically this have no large effect on the demographic distribution of religions.i think federalism is not the solution for the Palestinian refugee issue.

  • 10. Alyssa | September 12th, 2009 at 5:34 pm

It was 1994. Im not even march 8 or Aoun supporter(i hate him) but I know the truth of how far sectarians goes on the other side aswell.
500,000 syrians given nationality were not all christians (LOL) just look at the demographics to prove it (no suden increase) to that only a minority. They were mostly sunnis and about 60,000-80,000 shiite.
Hariri did this to boast sunni votes and the Syrians did it to boast Non-Lebanese votes. For years they have tried to manipulate the demographic thats why now hariri moved 15-30,000 sunnis to Zahle to boast sunni votes there aswell and manipulate the demographics of that area.
20,000 (non christian btw if u try state that) palestinians were also illegally naturalized despite it being agreed AFTER the war that palestinians would be forbidden from nationality out of principle for what they did in Lebanon. so this is illegal regardless what religion.

Armenians have been mostly nationalized since Lebanon’s independence.
They are only 150,000 of them at most and no one can dare compare them with the palestinians its an insult. its not an issue on religion but principle. They mostly live in Bourj Hammoud which they built from scratch with only the clothes on their back when they came to lebanon. after the ottomans massacred them in 1915 then more came in 1930s.

We gave the palestinians many chances they blew it they have only themselves to blame for their sitution here now.
We shall not accommodate the m anymore only ask that they leave.

Lets see they say sunnis make up over 1-1.3 million of Lebanon’s population. Now the palestinians (who are now nearly all sunnis) make up 350,000-500,000 of Lebanon’s population.do the math.
Its not hard to understand why many sunnis are defensive of them staying here or being given “better rights” especially since intermarriage between them and the palestinians is very common.
its why we cant get rid of them because they are being protected by a certain power abroad and in this country.
Thats why sinoura disgracefully went across the arab world while their terrorist camps was mudering our soldiers in 2007 to raise $100m for it to be rebuilt instead of sending them packing.
Yet not a penny to chrisitans who were displaced in the mountains or south by either Druze or Palestinians militas.
If that is not sectarianism what is that?

  • 11. Alyssa | September 12th, 2009 at 6:14 pm

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h92yK54jp0Q

THAT IS THE SOLUTION ITS TIME lEBANON stood up the palestinian emotional blackmail and the arab states selfishness.

as bachir said : send them anywere but here.
    .
..Do not be generous to palestinians at our expense.

  • 12. Alyssa | September 12th, 2009 at 6:19 pm

Do Tell Fadi how could sunnis make up 1/2 the votes or 3/4 if they are not 1/2 or 3/4 of this country? doesnt make sense.
Christians votes made up to 39-41%
Shias are a larger group than sunnis so how can they out number in Lebanese votes?
The druze also have a fair share of voting weight.

  • 13. fad14 | September 12th, 2009 at 7:06 pm

    Ya Alyssa,

    1. I am against Palestinians getting the right to vote ever !!
    2. I am saying give them a decent living and passports but no voting rights. Give them residency or temp IDs they can use to travel if they chose to do so.
    3. Give them the right to own apartments and businesses.
    4. Give them the right to get decent education.

A lot of kids are born today with nothing to do but dream of Palestine and enroll into militant groups to fight the evil empire and chase a 61 year old dream.

I am not saying give them the Right to Vote
but give them the right to live and the right to leave if they want to.

Its not about getting more votes, its about giving the people the right to live like humans.

Their parents have sinned against us, but there are kids born these days who have the right to live.

  • 14. Alyssa | September 12th, 2009 at 7:19 pm

no its about manipulating demographics at the expense of the native population. People who say otherwise is blind or lying.
I say through them out of Lebanon anywhere but not Lebanon.
Kuwait,Iraq,U.A.E is now doing the same so why cant we?
    Who is stopping this?
The only people who want them to stay is for sectarian reasons at our expense.
NO NEVER let them settle here! because this is not their country and they played a part in destroying it.
Part of reason we agreed to taef was that the palestinians NEVER be settled here.
Too many Lebanese people have suffered for this promise to be broken.
most lebanese have to live abroad & cant find work here.
so why make things easier for foreigners when our own people have it tough elsewhere.
    Lebanon is for the Lebanese.
A lot of kids are born today with nothing but a dream of seeing Lebanon rebuilt or returing the their motherland

They had better conditions fadi when before the war more freedom than any other arab country. education, jobs etc
Even their own political movements were allowed to voice themselves here.
They threw it in our face & tried to rule us
so their conditions is not the issue they are ungrateful no matter what we do.

Its time we declare them persona non grata
    and say adios
    61 years is long enough.

  • 15. Alyssa | September 12th, 2009 at 7:31 pm

    As bachir said;

DO NOT BE GENEROUS TO PALESTINIANS AT OUR EXPENSE.

  • 16. fad14 | September 12th, 2009 at 8:01 pm

We were not generous to them before the war.

They took things by force and with weapons.

As for Kuwait and the other countries, they are integrated with min rights.

They still live in Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi, Egypt and Oman.

They have papers that allow them to travel and to roam around.

And once they are wealthy enough, most of them are immigrating to Canada, USA, New Zealand and Australia and get the passport and come back to lead good businesses.

  • 17. THERESINIA | September 12th, 2009 at 8:09 pm

The uneducated doesn’t read and therefore cannot think because of lack of information…Intelligence is not everything, one needs to put at its disposal knowledge…”GO AND READ WHAT THE SWISS ACADEMICIANS HAVE ADVISED LEBANON”… : FEDERALISM!!!

Only uneducated will oppose this great idea which contains ONLY positive things…NOT even one negative consequence… apart of taking away Lebanon from those who want to TAKE ALL OF IT!!!

  • 18. harir | September 12th, 2009 at 8:22 pm

    hi
    i totally agree with ALYSSA posting and i add ;
    1. the palestinian should GET OUT of LEBANON immediately either to SUNNITE STATE or to any other western country that lOVES them including that UK .

2- Federalisme in lebanon proposed as a solution to the problem is the MOST STUPID idea i heard.
lebanon is too small for federalisme and lebanese are TOO BACKWARDED to be compared to switerland situation.
Even in switzerland , the isue of palestos would had endangered the situation.

3- USA -ISRAEL . SAUdis – and all other sunnite states plus the sunnites of lebanon ARe the ones who want the palestos to be NATURALIZED and SETTLES in Lebanon.

4- the element of time is in favor of this plan( the SETTELEMENT of PALESTOS ) UNLESS :
A – the LEB . ARMY become strong and well armed with heavy artillary and this expalin why the USA or any other western country are willing to sell it heavy weapons.

B _ Christian GETS their POWER BACK from sunnite and others.

C- the Lebanese securities start issuing a lAISSEZ PASSER ( one way out ) to all palestos wishing to leave .

D- the maronites and christian churches and political powers ENCOURAGE the return of all immigrated christains back to lebanon and discourage the migration with TANGIBLE Measures.

E – Immediate REVOKE of all naturalized people who got it ilegally.
the sunnite are AGAINST this step………….

    bye

  • 19. paul | September 12th, 2009 at 8:32 pm

and the american academicians have adviced the christians to leave lebanon and to emigrate to california

  • 20. Alyssa | September 12th, 2009 at 9:31 pm

Fad14 we were not generous before the war?
what kind of bullshit is that?
why did we declare war with the israelis in the first place, over the north pole?
tell me were did the terrorist George habbash study medicine and other palestinians?
Tell me why did we let them in our country in 1940s after they lost their land?
Who agreed to host that terrorist arafat and his PLO thugs after King Hussein kicked their asses?

    Reality check,
400.000 palestinians were expelled by Al-Sabah in 1991 for supporting Saddam against them. Kuwait had been the made benefactor of the PLO prior this is what bankrupted them in the 1990s.
UAE is doing the same slowly.
I say it again why can Kuwait kick out Palestinians for betraying their country yet we cant?
Who wants them to stay other than for selfish sectarian purposes.

Talk about lebanon all you want but lets see how grateful they were in Jordan and Kuwait and you think treatment makes a difference?

    The need to go…pronto

  • 21. Alyssa | September 12th, 2009 at 9:43 pm

Even the church in the 1940s gave some of their lands so their camps could be built on them.
We allow them to self rule themselves on camps all across lebanon at our expense since they pay no taxes.

also if the countries you list give them so much freedom (which i doubt since many other other arab countries bar palestinians work aswell)

Then the solution is send them there then so they be no longer a burden for us.

  • 22. ja3far | September 12th, 2009 at 9:51 pm

paul.. the american are saying the same thing to the christian iraquis… and helping them doing that.. even though iraque is becoming a federal country … that is why we should listen to the swiss :)

  • 23. fad14 | September 12th, 2009 at 9:52 pm

We can’t even form a government or elect a president and you want federalism ?

What are you talking about people ?

    Same Questions:
Who gets the airport ? or you want 3 or 4 of them ?
Who gets the port ? or you want 3 or 4 of them ?
Do you need a work permit to work in the Maronistan or Sunnistan ?
All Christians are equal or Maronites continue to rule the Christian areas ?
    Who is the president ?
who controls the bekaa valey ?
Would you host the Shiaas every time they attack Israel and they start bombing them again ?
    Who gets the Palestinians ?
    Who controls downtown Beirut ?
How do we do the voting ?
Based on sects or quotas or percentages ?
Who will rule the Christians areas ? Aoun or Geagea or Amine Gmayel ?

50% or more of Christians voted for Aoun last elections, DO YOU ACCEPT HIM TO RULE YOU ?

  • 24. Lebanonhsh | September 12th, 2009 at 10:34 pm

Alyssa your video in comment 11 is very interesting….the man has a point. The Palestinians have the resposability of bringing a lot of sorrow to the region…..lets hope that peace and a Palestinian state can emerge so that the Palestinian refugees can live in it with dignity instead of being used as tools without human rights for the sole purpose of saying look they live like that why?because of the ‘zionist crusaders’ (lol) This region I hope will change to something good I hope!

  • 28. Alyssa | September 14th, 2009 at 3:41 pm

harir your right about your D solution the church and Political powers need to encourage christians to Return back to Lebanon if 10%-20% returned even that would be enough.

PPl none of this “no jobs, economy,” etc crap when the shias emigrate to Germany,America,
    Australia,Africa, etc
The main priority is they work so they can RETURN back they dont build their palaces in
France,Dubai,Beverly hills,Spain or etc they build them HERE in Lebanon.

Christians have to start doing the same or thiking the same and stop being absorbed or assimilated into other socitiies. Focus and heading back to Lebanon.
We are the majority abroad yet their return could really boast the numbers aswell the resetllement of pals.
Many Christians in Diaspora have made
a large enough fortune to able to survive here in Lebanon.
Also we need to make a issue of over the displaced christians in the moutains and their right to return.

So my message to Christians is:

COME BACK WE NEED YOU :)

  • 29. VOR | September 14th, 2009 at 5:19 pm

The dire conditions of the palestinian camps are pushing the new generation toward extermism and despair, this will only result in a a violent backlash. We should not look to fight the palestinians but rather giving them an opportunity to better themselves and accept to live within our society provided they adhere to our laws and accept to follow our rules, with the understanding that a lebanese citizen will alaways get the priority for a job or otherwise over a palestinian. if they can live with that, then why not allow them to do so? I’d rather have a peaceful palestinian population with some hope as opposed to a violent and extremist bunch that sees no way out but through the power of the gun!

  • 30. Alyssa | September 14th, 2009 at 5:57 pm

    VOR,
we have 100,000 matyrs who died to protect the christians of lebanon and our right to live here.
tell me how wud accepting the palestinians value all those who died fighting against it or because of them?
even UAE dont want palestinians, why is the arab nations who have less to loose can kicked them out but we cant?

Jordan and Kuwait have proven that having a large but “peaceful” palestinian populaton isnt possible.
Most the palestinians in Jordan now are the majority. (70% of Jordan and 52% support bin laden)
Is this what should happen in lebanon while our population is emigrating and living abroad we should give our country away to foreigners who helped destroy it so we can become another backward Arab Sunni muslim country?

We lebanese dont owe the palestinians a thing its time many lebanese get that into their heads before they think its our fault the palestinians behvave the way they do.

if they dont like lebanon they can leave.
the thing you seem to forget is that the extremism has been nutured in those camps by the PALESTINIANS since the sixites we had to sign the cairo agreements in 1969 because the palestinians kept attacking our army & population in the south pressuring us to do so.
were the same laws they have now inforced?
mostly no they came in 1990s after the war. Arafat was provided with billions and the PLO had a more funds than we did to splash about
yet the “refugees” were worse then than they are now.
When we showed them appeasement all we got was their agrrogance in return. unless u want history to repeat itself

Its time lebanon said adios, Lebanon for lebanese
find somewhere else for them but not lebanon
61 years is enough history has shown they dont want to follow our laws they dont want to respect lebanon’s soverignty instead they either want to take it over or use it as a battlefield for their wars just like the other arabs do.

  • 31. VOR | September 14th, 2009 at 10:18 pm

Fair enough Alyssa, but please tell me how do you intend on getting rid of the palestinian problem? They are here and NO ONE will take them. So…what is the solution? You don’t want to give them any rights, and you want to keep them locked up in their miserable camps…so what you are asking for in the end is for more trouble and another opportunity for extremists to hijack these young palestinians and turn them against us because that is who they blame for their miserable situation. You reap what you sow and as good christians, we should have some compassion even if we’ve been hurt in the past. I am only advocating for them some basic rights so that they can earn some respect for themselves…otherwise, we’re going to have to live with a volcano ready to erupt in those camps. I believe that one episode of Nahr-el Bared is good enough to prove this point.

  • 32. avi | September 14th, 2009 at 11:50 pm

I think you have been living with volcanos for many years Vor…..

  • 33. Alyssa | September 15th, 2009 at 12:23 am

    VOR
Have you ever heard of the saying;’
“if you cannot swim do not try and save someone drowing because you will drown with them”
    ?

Lebanon is a country were its population is leaving why should it be replaced with foreigners? and Foreigners who helped burn this country to ashes? why should we adovocate for their rights when they advocated to strip us of OUR rights and power?
    That logic alone is disgusting.

    Its very simple,
Stop making excuses as if they way they act is our fault. Palestinians have shown to other nations they are not a grateful ppl and they will not change anytime soon.
I rather them being locked up ARMED in those camps then be free to roam around and attack Lebanese and it become a more worse liabilty.
They are not Lebanese They are not our problem.

you need to understand before the war the Palestinians had many rights and how did they treat Lebanese in our country?
ask anyone who is from the south and lived druing then they will tell you.
even before the war. Im not talking about the PLO the “refugees” supported or join them to attack us. Did this have anything
“rights”? Did them trying to take over Jordan had anything to do with “rights”?

Nahr al bared showed the Palestinians have a nact for hoistering terrorists regardless who pays the price & then think they complain when we fight back after our ppl are being attacked .
GOD BLESS THOSE WHO DIED FIGHTING THOSE TERRORISTS IN NAHR AL BARED.

They are not only a demographic threat they are a security one aswell.
That their place doesnt belong here. We’ve had enough.

They have a choice to behave yet they choose again and again not to and then complain when they get confronted or dont like things.

Yes im christian but if they had their way
there would of killed or expelled all the christians in Lebanon, so my sympathy for them is limited. since they have never expressed sorrow for they have done against us. Why should the future of the chrisitan community in this country be sacrificed for them? This our country not theres.
I put my nation first and its not fair that many lebanese are scraping to survive in this country and have to leave and you expect us to accomadate strangers who dont belong here. Why should they thrive here while 90% of us are in exile?
dont be generous to them at our expense.

The UAE right now is expelling palestinians and nobody cares do you hear them complaining? Does the UAE care were they go? this one of the richest countries in the world yet they dont give a fig. So why should we?

Who said no one will take them?
Nobody in Goverment (neither march 8 or march 14) has bothered to asked.
Either because they are weak or they want the palies to stay for sectarian purposes.
Although They do keep talking about this “respect of their right of return” crap which will probally either never happen or not our lifetime and only strains this country more but they act as if its our obligation to fight for their cause and champion the “arab cause” by hosting them.

Its makes me sick Aoun is cheering hamas to score points, and even some of the LF is starting to accept the tawteen possibility as if only to appease Hariri.

We either lead or follow. I say we lead in fighting against this not just for our sake bu fo the sake of our matyrs who if this goes through would of died for NOTHING.

    have some dignity
As bachir said send them any where Morocco,Egypt,Saudi Arabia,Yemen, Europe America.
but not here! Kuwait did it
Iraq done it and UAE is doing it.
    Lebanon shud be next :)

the only thing lebanon shud do for them is say GOODBYE the end is near…

    have you ever heard of the saying VOR;
if you cannot swim do not save someone drowing because you will drown with them”
    ?

Lebanon population is leaving why should it be replaced with foreigners who helped
politically anihilite christians and destroy this country?
Our matrys would of died for nothing.

Where they go isnt our problem, we have to put our country and people first.

The problem never been nobody wants them the problem is the goverment isnt doing that good of a job getting rid of them they want to wait until israel takes them back(this will never happen) at our expense.

Narh al bared showed the palestiniasn (since the 1960s btw) have a nact for causing problems in this country.
As long they stay so will elements of extremism that dont belong in this land.

Did kuwait care where they go?
    Did Iraq care?
    IS THE UAE CARING??
    do you hear them complaing?
We have more to loose from them staying yet the goverment doesnt have the face to rid of them because they want to appear as champions for the fucking arab cause.
The only solution is them leave they’ve outstayed theri welcome long enough.

Ok, Alyssa, so what about those that want to live in peace, that do not care about fighting for a lost cause and want to aspire to a better life? Should we condemn them as well with the others? Once again, I totally agree that we should not provide them with opportunities at our expense, but there are ways to give someone a chance at a better life without allowing them to take advantage of you. The basis upon which you are debating this issue is rather discriminating and inhumane, something that we as a people are unfortunately very much capable of. Just look around how we treat each other and you get my drift! That is why we find ourselves in the mess that we’re in as a country and as a people!
