Accident or Assault on the UN ?
Posted by N10452First of all, Sinceres condoleances to the families and friends of the Spanish Soldiers who died today.
Update 1: Lebanese police reported that a suicide bomber driving a Renault Rapid conducted the terrorist attack on the Spanish troops ( not confirmed though).
I heard around 7:30 that an explosion occured in Dardara in South Lebanon, killing at first 2 UNIFIL Spanish troops and injuring 6.
Apparently the casualties went up to 6 and the latest news say that the bomb was planted recently and is not one of the leftovers of the Israelies from the past war.
It is still too early to say anything, Katyousha rockets were shot last week on Sunday as well around the same time ..seems like someone wants to move the tension to the South once again after they failed in the North ..
There are a lot of groups in the South controlled by Syrians, mainly Palestinians and Hezbollah is aware of those groups and is capable of stopping them, however they cannot disobey Syrian orders ..
I hope that was an incident because it is very alarming, but in the same time it will put the UNIFIL troops to the test and force them to monitor even more closely their regions ..
It is still too early to conclude anything.
May they rest in peace.

Why do you consider it is not possible to say anything? I mean, who can attack the UN forces in Southern Lebanon?
Greetings from Spain and thank you for your words. I read your blog every day and I have linked this article from my webolog, because I am writing about the conflict in Lebanon since last year.
