On Friday the 14th of November, Sheikh Nadim Gemayel announced unofficially the start of his
electoral campaign, reassuring everyone that he is running for the upcoming 2009 elections.

Even though i thought it was too early for him to run for elections, but i believe it is a courageous move and a decisive one for him. Compared to all politicians we have right now, and all the potential ones running in the upcoming elections, no one is as clean, as honest and as straight forward as this young man is.
He might lack political experience, lack his dad’s charisma, lack several issues but he is by far the best choice when compared to other Christians running, even though i prefer not having to compare yet.
“1978 : Achrafieh, The Liberation
2009 : Achrafieh, The Change”
The son of Bashir Gemayel running for elections in Achrafieh …
This is a major event, this is a decisive one for his career and future …
Sheikh Nadim cannot lose those elections …
You have my support and i will support your candidature till elections day

I sincerely hope he wins… He looks so much like his dad I can’t but shiver everytime I see him… Allah yer7am bayyo. True he lacks experience. I don’t know if he lacks charisma since he’s not been too involved in the media, we hardly ever see him on TV. Let’s wait and see on this.
I hope he’ll not align himself with Hariri and FM and not run on any list supported by this thug, it would be the greatest insult to his father’s memory.

We all support Nadim, but did he announced his program or his main ideas?
It will not be complete without having this program, the same his dad RIP did 26 years ago.
Anyway Good luck.

Who is running against him directly……is it Poussy? If its him then it will be close.
regards

I respect this man and the sacrifices of his family but I don’t like political inheritance…shou bebe rose el oussa ..now nayla will also run to replace her old grandpa…leik N inta min shou betichkii yaa3ni…we need people min el chaeb..enough arstocratiyee
5. Ra'fat | November 20th, 2008 at 6:19 am
I love Bachir, but I am with Rima on this one. We need to embrace institutions and not political families. With that said, I will judge him based on his program and who else is running, and he needs to earn my support.

in my opinion, i don’t like this…
everyone of us loved his dad but let’s be realistic he’s far away from his dad…
he lived and worked in qatar in the last years and now he comes for elections.
well i really think that Sami Gemayel would be much more better than him as a politician.
anyway the good thing here is that he may be confronting Poussy l Ash2ar.. and he’s the only one who can break him in Ashrafieh…
Cheers.

who is poussy el ashkar
8. Waha Wera | November 20th, 2008 at 7:54 am

Guys, most of you probably know my
opinion on family polititcs and feudalism …
I never supported people praising Nadim before
Saying he should be the next LF leader …
Nadim did not inherit anything positive except from
his father … Rest of the family is more of a burdain
On him … He never pretended to be like bashir unlike
Sami in his speeches and is a very down to earth
And modest guy …. I am sure he won’t be anyone
Puppet and will have a strong political plan ..
Let’s wait and see anyway

Rima
I don’t think anyone can handle my political thoughts
11. M.N. | November 20th, 2008 at 8:15 am
Rima his name is mass3oud el ahkar…known as poussy… very popular man in ashrafieh, fought with bashir during the war… he’s known as a very “fierce” fighter, and he’s so close ashrafieh people..
anyway now he’s with joe eddeh, elie asswad, i think also fouad abou nader and other old LFers in a front more close to michel aoun than march 14.
12. M.N. | November 20th, 2008 at 8:27 am
N i disagree with you about sami…
let me tell you i’m not a amin gemayel fan…
Sami stood against his dad and late brother.. he was with the students in all demonstrations (where was nadim?) several times he got arrested or beaten by the army… (he’s a real man even his voice doesn’t show it).. he’s the only one clear about federalism in kataeb party.. even his dad fought him in the last kataeb elections…
i didn’t say nadim is a bad guy but come on he’s coming out of a sudden to work in politics…
For me, now, sami is a better choice than nadim.
Cheers.

N i am a bit surprised how can u support him already before you hear what his plan is ….. with all my respect Delta
14. Rodge | November 20th, 2008 at 8:56 am
M.N.
I agree with you on Sami, but why not having both Nadim and Sami, one in Beirut and the other in Metn. It would be a good choice, maybe they both can bring a good edition to the next parliament, and I’m sure they can motivate many youngsters.
15. Rodge | November 20th, 2008 at 9:00 am
Another idea,
Maybe Nadim doesn’t have the Charisma of his dad Bashir, or the enthusiasm and action of Sami, but since we all know that he was raised on Bashir principles and thoughts, he should have the necessary to think and act the way he should.
Delta,
u’re right, and I said the same in my #2, he should talk about his plan.
16. M.N. | November 20th, 2008 at 9:20 am
well Rodge i think that’s how it’s gonna be.. like u said nadim in beirut and sami in metn. but all my point was frankly we don’t know anything about him… we see him 1 time per year and he didn’t even live in lebanon…
as i mentioned before anyway he’s the strongest maronite figure in front of poussy… his name gives him a big advantage.
Cheers.

To be honest, and regardless his political background and his stance close to Aoun and against the LF leadership, I personally think Poussy is a good man, and I know him in person, the man has lots of friends in LF, and he helped many of them during the “Ilghaa” war launched by Aoun in 1990.
I see him as straight representative, once again regardless his political views, and that’s why he is still close to people in Beirut, mainly in Achrafieh, so I think Nadim will face a hard challenge running against him.
18. N10452 | November 20th, 2008 at 11:02 am
M.N,
Where did you see me say anything bad about Sami
I like the young man too, he fought a long way to get to where he is and is more experienced and capable than Nadim but again he is not as clean and there are several question marks on certain issues that i would rather not tackle now ..
Nadim did not come and impose himself as a candidate .. he has been in Achrafieh for a long time, he was absent for a while but was always there .. he was inactive thats another matter … maybe it was better for him to stay out of it back then ..
19. N10452 | November 20th, 2008 at 11:03 am
Delta,
Lets just say i know he has good people around him, people that will make sure his plan will be at the required level …
20. N10452 | November 20th, 2008 at 11:04 am
Rodge,
With all due respect to Pussy, but he is a man after a chair .. and that is quite sad ..
and he is not as straight nor as good as u think ..trust me on that ..
21. Rodge | November 20th, 2008 at 11:28 am
N,
You could be right here, since I don’t have much information about his background, but all I know in this regard is that he’s been involved and still with the Army intelligence.
22. Bachir 7ay Fina | November 20th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
i like this man.
rou7 bachir kella fi.
no way eno yekhsar bel achrafiyeh.
23. Fuziyad | November 20th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
I find it intersting that every body starts talking about political programs and agendas…come on guys first of all he’s a teenager second there is nothing such as political programm from one particular person in the world, even less in lebanon, if there is a programm then it’s the one oF the list.
What matters to me is that march14 wins the elections in ashrafieh, the rest is details…
If to attract the simple minded lebanese electorate we need to put sons of zou3ama or local land lords then let it be, we will go with Nadim Gemayel, Nayla Tueni and Michel Pharaon the purpose being to win.
Personnally I would rather have a list with Chibli Mallat, Tarek Mitri and Ghassan Salamé, this is what Beirut deserves…but we will have the complaints of those who will say “hol ma bi masslo bla bla” so let’s go with what we can get, yalla nadim, nayla and abou el mich. EL ASHRAFIEH LANA…

26. Fred | November 20th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
Bash 3ala Rasna w bi ouloubna but Nadim is not really the best choice we can have.
I would have preferred that Youmna would take the lead. She is more Charismatic.
Sami is a great young man, very promising Allah ye7mi and Inshallah he can unite again the Christians
