I was watching yesterday the Sarkozy-Royal debate and it was sensational, a true political debate where each has to impress the voters ..

Both candidates tackled the slighest problems in France promising pragmatic solutions ( Sarkozy at least).

My question is :
Why cant Aoun & Geagea be called for a debate ?

We are sll sick of PRers and press interview and interviews, let the two men sit facing each others and debate about politics and everything, but in front of the camera and journlaists and the spectators who will finally have the chance to judge and critisize in a constructive way of course.

    Sorry N10452,

Can you tell me how can you debate with Aoun?

Please give me a break! The man is unstable and ill, can’t you see it? Maybe he can make a monologue in Deir el Salib (Aoun raje3 3la deir salib trust me).

We all know that such a thing will never happen, because Aoun will not agree to it, given his obvious lack of articulate speech and eloquence. He will be trumped by Geagea on all counts. It is not like Aoun is capable of intelligent, calm and sane interaction. He will leave in the middle of the debate screaming and cursing as usual.
However it is a very sensible idea.

hey guys i haven’t written for a while.

LF forever: what u said has no value,Aoun is unstable, but what stops him from debating?maybe his illness will work for our side

N10452:I wanted to know what you truly mean..If you’re considering a debate for the presidency, then you’re naming Dr.Geagea as a candidate, while he has numerously stated that he isn’t running for prez in this election. However, your idea is much constructive if it is turned just to inform/convince the lebanese people, and the christians especially, about the truth in the past, and the present.Or else, you should wait until each of March 14th and March 8th declares its final candidate, then have them debate.
Anyway, your idea is cool dude, haha and i wish it would happen, even if it has nothing to do with the presidency issue.

    For what purpose?

  • 6. wassim | May 4th, 2007 at 1:02 pm

i think it is a very cool idea but i dont think geagea will accept bcs that man is a liar and people will see him lying so he cant accept it and specially that a very intellectual person is sitting in front of him (general) but he knows nothing to talk, 11 years in prison all what he can do is to shake his head…

I can’t see Aoun in a debate and calling people calleb, hmar, etc… In other hand, it would be funny.

lol at Wasim’s comment. See that’s exactly how Aoun would interact in a debate, accusing with no facts to back up his accusations, coupled with the usual fits of anger. I still can’t envisage Aoun in a debate against anyone. Even Carlos Edde with his poor mastering of the Arabic language would rip Aoun’s arguments to shreds.
LOL Aoun “an intellectual person” and Geagea “knows nothing to talk”.

It is abvious that Aoun is Unstable and a nut case, on the other hand Dr samir is every thing that Aoun is not. A debate like this is very healty since Aoun has tarneched our picture in our society ond he still doing it .Such a debate will open the doors of hell on Aoun and will reverse the civilian population especially the christian. That will make a lot of people see what we saw in Aoun 19 years ago

We have to immagine that GMA forgets to take his calming tablets,or it comes drunk.
Then so a debate will end with a disaster.

How can a person who was educated in a military school with no proper political record and no good history of communication and with a mentality of believing he is the head of the country, how could he debate anyone ?

He can’t answer questions by the reporters and shouts at them, he can’t understand the fact that he will die before setting foot in baabda again, he thinks Shiaa’s should elect a Christian president, and he believes he is clean from the blood of a war he started and ended in his famous sprint from baabda to mar takla setting a world record in speed for the thirst of coffee.

No matter what Aoun or Geagea are, a debate like this is very essential. Even if Samir Geagea is not running for presidency, we need both men to sit down and talk about their plans for Lebanon, the futur of Christians in Lebanon, what do they intend to do for us etc etc…

And once and for all let the people decide which one is more convincing, which one represents their ideas and aspirations.
