First of all i am a normal lebanese citizen who lived during the late 80ies in france. Of course i was admired by Bashir Gemayel, but the other LF leaders didn't impress me .By 1986 a new turning point : Dr.Geagea was elected and the hope for a free christian community within a wider lebanese community came back to reality, but Dr.Geagea had many obstacles and confronted many traitors between 86 and 90 ended by the tragique "ilgha" war. Geagea's mission seemed totaly a failure : freedom of the christian community will never be a reality when we christian fight each other!!!
This is what we should have learned from the war! "Unity makes power!"
What happened under Michel Aoun's "mandate" ?i am not gonna say he made the "ilgha" war but what i am sure of i that he declared it before the lebanese forces did, as well as he declared the "liberation war" which leaded lebanon into ruins and destruction but the worst thing during this war is that the syrian entered Jounier and the eastern side and the patriarche was set responsible for the war ! Is this how Aoun "will follow bashir's steps" as he said, clearly something is wrong.
I will not talk about the fifteen past years under that syrian regime but i am gonna talk about the time when hope came back again in 14th of march when everybody who dreamed about a free lebanon came to downtown and defied Hassan Nasrallah who was saying:"syria must not go out of lebanon." That wasn't the time to dream but to believe in that strong democratic lebanon, o yeah that time was a glory age for Aoun who convinced many of lebanese people that he will be the spring of lebanon !(even i was almost convinsed!). Thing were not clear until the sixth of february: Aoun recognized the legitimacy of the terrorist organization, and in turn Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah made statements supportive of Aoun which were interpreted to mean that Hizbullah would support Aoun's campaign for the presidency. IS THIS HOW U GET PRESIDENCY IS THIS HOW "UNITY MAKES POWER" UNITY TO MAKE A WIDER DIVISION? AND WHAT POWER? POWER OF RUINING HOPES?? WHAT ABOUT ALL THE AOUNIST WHO SAID NO TO HASSAN NASRALLAH ON THE 14th OF MARCH ?!?IF I WAS AN AOUNIST I WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND IT!!
And whith the time passing by things became clearer and clearer, the agreement of the 6th of february became more than a pact!! Things went from bad to worse: Aounist became to gather with SSNP (awmiyye),bathist,Marada and hizbollah supporters then having together many universities campaign but the worst thing is threatening the Sinora's government as Bachar al Asad calaimed. WELL yeah "unity makes power"! The unity between iran and syria gave them power but these two countries have almost the same goal and the same regime but is it the same thing for Aoun and Nasrallah do they have the same goal? If we know the Goal of Nasrallah which is making an islamic empire from iran to cyprus (declared in 1982)do we know the goal of Aoun ?

As for Dr.GEAGEA well nothing to say except that he had spent 11 years of his life to defend his Goal:"The Christian community shall live in peace with other's communities".
Geagea didn't show us anything i mean anything that will make us think that he will give up his dreams.
This is how we determine whether a person deserve the presidency (highest christian post) or not.

That shows how "LF" you were, LF is a cause, and Aoun was never, and probably will never be working for that cause.

Anyway, people like you, who join Aoun because they do not like Geagea anymore are either kids or stupid, no 3rd choice.

First of all I am a christian lebanese guy that has lived the war and suffered mostly from the last war between the army and the lebanese forces. My first reaction to what I am reading is that there are still small... yes small people who have not learned anything from the past...I dont believe how much hatered could be in the heart of somebody for it to last 15 yrs and to blabb about defending christians while working on christians demise in Lebanon...Shame on you all...
Everybody is entitled to an opinion, this is a free country and dont think that you can push people to follow by scaring them( purely militia attitude)... In fact if you notice that you are loosing more ground by doing so... And by the way for you guys who cut short on words and use cursing it is the ultimate sign of weakness and immaturity and I pity you from all my heart... This was just an introduction I had to say...
As for the subject of debate, let me first start by indicating that the General Michel Aoun wants the presidency, but at least has the courage and the decency to declare it... I may not approve all his political maneuvers but everybody can not deny his boldness, his sincerity, which is qualified as crazyness by some because he does not bullshit people around...As for the general to be a Syrian popet, the author of such an allegation is a dreamer because no body in Lebanon and even the Lebanese Forces, except for Bashir stand off in Achrafieh, have the honor of confronting the Syrian other than the general...Wasn't it the major criticism by the LF to the general that he has made the war of liberation...I dont want to expand further which I can do very easily...Yes the general wants the presidency and that is his right as a Maronite as it is Dr geagea right...It is also his right to use all the avalable resources that he has to arrive to his goal...I agree on that because wish it or not he represents the majority among the christians and he will be a strong president for Lebanon in general and the christians in particular...And I dont see any other strong candidate for the presidency at the time being other than him and Dr Geagea who declared openly not to be a candidate... So for the christians in Lebanon, and for Lebanon not to become a Hariri kingdom which is little by little becoming, let us let the democracy, the agreemental democracy take its effect...
