Why would someone beat up Ghattas Khouri’s wife ?

Samar Jabbour, a teacher at the American University Hospital was assaulted while leaving her work. A person stopped her called her by her name and punched her then asked her “if she liked that”.

Even though this incident might not be a politica one, it was listed as one on all papers today. I heard from friends in AUB that some rumors were spread that it was a Hezbollah guy.
I dont believe that, even though everyone started relating this act to Ghattas Khouri’s reply to Naiim Kassem yesterday where he harshly attacked Hezbollah and Kassem.

Well anyway i believe that in normal days, no one would have given that incident much importance. It could be some cowardly act from some intelligence guys to take advantage of the current tensions, or simply some student pissed at his teacher, or some guy in love with his teacher bass mich m3abritto :)

Whomever did it is one filthy coward for beating a woman.

Anyway, the woman is famous now, and who knows she might get into politics after all the calls she got, Sanioura, Hariri, Amine Gemayel, Jumblatt, Ghassan Tueni, Hassan Sabe3, Marwan Hmadeh, Aridi etc etc ..

You are definitely one uninformed poster. As one of Samar Khoury’s close friends, I feel the need to set you straight on some facts. First of all, Samar Khoury is a medical doctor (precisely an anaesthesiologist) so that shoots your “student pissed at his teacher” and “guy in love with his teacher bass mich m3abritto” theories to hell. Furthermore, Dr. Samar Khoury did not recognize the assailant.
On another note, if you have not been living under a rock in the past 2 years, you would know that Ghattas Khoury is one of the chief architects of the Independence Uprising and that he and his wife have received multiple threats over the last couple of years.
Finally, all the politicians that called Dr. Samar Khoury and visited her in the aftermath of the attack are personal friends of her and her husband. As a successful doctor, I can assure you that she has no intention of capitalizing on the attention to gain entry into the political arena.
I would hope that you would at least research your basic facts and be aware of the context of within which an incident occurs before you irresponsibly post your opinion on the internet.
At least you got one thing right: “Whomever did it is one filthy coward for beating a woman”.

Sorry, there is a typo. The next to last sentence should read:
“I would hope that you would at least research your basic facts and be aware of the context which an incident occurs before you irresponsibly post your opinion on the internet”.

    Final correction:
“I would hope that you would at least research your basic facts and be aware of the context within which an incident occurs before you irresponsibly post your opinion on the internet”.
    Sorry about that.
