Thank you Sayyed Hassan
Posted by N10452Posted by Tareq73, your contribution is much appreciated.
In the 1980s Lebanon used to be in the world news in America and Europe only when there were bombs or airplane hijackings or assassinations… and when you said to Americans or Europeans that you are Lebanese they always asked about the war… it was sooooo annoying to always have to explain that Lebanon was a great country before the war and we don’t all want violence and killing… it sucked so much to see how bad our image was in the world and when this started to change in the 1990’s (at least a little bit) it felt so different and so good that foreigners had good things to say about Lebanon, some of them were starting to go there on vacation and they would talk about the food and how much fun they had and how beautiful it is… naturally this is good for tourism and business but also psychologically for the millions of Lebanese outside Lebanon you have something to be proud of, it even affects your friendship with people when they think you come from a good place they respect you more and they treat you better (it’s human nature)!
Well all this changed again with the war of July 2006 that Hezbollah launched as we all know… and after all the killing and the destruction that stopped in August 2006, the image of Lebanon is again in the gutter, look at this video and see for yourself… It’s only one small example, it is a TV advertisement by AT&T for cellular phone service and they mention 4 cities that are infamous (that Americans consider weird or see them in a bad way), the first one is Beirut!!! they associate it with war and craziness and killing, then Los Angeles (crime and gangs) and Moscow (frozen in the old days of the Soviets) and Roswell New Mexico (where all the weirdos think a UFO crashed and some aliens were found!!)… the commercial is saying that AT&T is the best cellular phone company because you can get cellular phone service even in these weird backward crazy places!!!
This is an example that you don’t always see of what the war of Hezbollah has done to Lebanon’s image in the world for many years in the future… and why did they do this? to free 2 prisoners that they don’t talk about anymore, one of them is a criminal and the other one is a ghost that Israel denies he exists.
So I just want to say thank you Sayyed Hassan for this wonderful achievement, you have made the lives of millions of Lebanese outside Lebanon so much better, I am so glad I went back to Lebanon so I don’t have to see and hear the reaction of foreigners when I tell them I am from Lebanon, I feel sorry for the millions of Lebanese outside who have to explain again over and over why they are not all crazy religious wackos who dream of blowing themselves up.

Johnny,
First of all i woul like to thank you for your great idea in creating the ouwet.com group on facebook, i think we all appreciate that.
Second, i can fully understand what happened with you, since the same happened to my brother, who witnessed his business deteriorating, and now he’s leaving Lebanon once again. He was abroad between 1986 and 1992.
The question is, who will be held responsible for this kind of damage?? in Lebanon the answer is always: NO ONE.

Long live HassAoun. They are accomplishing their objectives.
1. Drive all Christians out of Lebanon
2. Make Aouny president of the dead republic. The dead can not hear him..No need for asprin.

Johnny and Rodge, good points that I forgot about, some people had to leave after the July war and some people had to leave AGAIN for the second time!! It’s very sad what is happening to every family in Lebanon and no one cares, Hezbollah makes threats and spreads weapons in the country, Aoun insults us and Wahab promises to kill us, and Bachar bombs our streets and kills our leaders, and then they tell you “the LF are thugs” Ya 3ammi how retarded are these people??

what media item are you talking about ?
11. tareq | September 25th, 2007 at 6:51 pm
JohnnyB, I think johnny is referring to the video I posted, it’s OK that Liveleak says it was rejected for public listing, it only means that you need a direct Link to view it but you cannot search for it on Liveleak, I made it private in case there is a copyright issue eventhough it is only a TV commercial so it should be OK anyway.

I get a lot weird questions when I tell people I’m from Lebanon:
Did you have a gun?
What militia were you in?
Do they have popcorn where you come from?
You guys hate Israel, huh?
But the question that I’ve got from most people is:
Lebanon? Where’s that?
And those who have heard of Lebanon, immediately think I’m an islamist, towel head who only came to Clifornia to blow himself up.

And SONIA
the intifada might have cost you money.
but you guys arent $40 billion in debt.
and you get $3 billion dollars from the US every year.
And the whole world pays attention to you.
We got the bad end of all these violent acts over the decades.

Even the Arabs, who know well the Lebanese situation, are wondering what is happeneing in Lebanon, and what Hizbullah is doing. I se here in Kuwait many people hate Hizbullah, and i think Johnny u’re meeting the same in Dubai.
But to be honest, there are those who are supporting Hizb, mainly the Shiaa’s and especially the Egyptians. What is funny about Egyptians (whom i still can’t believe that the Pharaos are their ancestors. The Egyptians, who signed an accord with Israel after losing many wars, are looking to compensate their leaders failure by supporting everyone who fight Israel, so they sympathize with Hizbullah

Rodge,
Mainly locals here want to come to lebanon to the broumana and sawfar area’s ans st.georges beach, they think of lebanon as a touristic place, but they say they can’t come now until the situation is cleared … and they hate h.a for they have to the place they like to visit the most …
as for H.A supporters, you can only see Pakistani taxi drivers and indian muslims and syrians who support H.A … I try to talk to explain to them bass di2 l-may may … eikhir mouda 3endi halla2 bass chi 7adan y2illi inno bi7ib H.A i tell him: ” …. fik w fiyon ! “
