  Thank you N for the information…Not to change the subject but I think Syria’s visit to Russia might be so detrimental to Lebanon.In a bid to offend the USA, Russia might encourage the Assad regime to stand his ground and keep his alliances with Iran…
  Russia Iran Syria and maybe Pakistan another Cold war and maybe warm war…not so good for Lebanon…

  I agree with Rambo,
  They are not a small group, and they could depend on a big support from many similar groups in Arab and Muslim countries, they also could rceive the suppor of Al Qaeda, and that’s where the big danger lies.

  I think the most efficient way to control them is a good and efficient intelligence work.

  Also Future movement and the Government should take care more of the poor areas of Sunnis, since it is there where these movements are growing.

  This group isn’t small at all,as i am from Tripoli,i allow myself to say they are growing and dangerous,especially after the propaganda of sunni/shia conflict,and the feed on poverty and ignorance….
  Thanx to future movement,they set free the Dennieh detenies,and the Ashrafieh vandalisme heroes,and gave license to 7izb l Tahrir…..
  THere should be a plan to avoid their expansion among the poor and uneducated ,and be vigilliant with the ones that interfeer with the freedom of others especially in Tripoli….

  In the absence of reliable statistics, it is quite hard to tell the percentage of salfists in the sunni community and the lebanese community in general. I agree with rodge and others regarding governmental involvement.

  There is nothing really wrong about Salafists, it’s just a religion sect. Not all salafists are the same and the new MOU can really underline this fact.

  The problem is the brainwashed people who will follow orders blindly, whether they were salafists or others.

  Small salafi groups that spend their time praying are not such a threat for lebanon and their potential of expansion in lebanon is limited…Un doubtebly the only thing that could make those guys stronger is the weakening of the enlightened sunnism represent by the FM but also by Mikati or Safadi in Tripoli.

  Salafi terrorist groups is another matter as they don’t need to be that many to be harmful, still as proven with the fatah el islam experience these guys can’t expand much in lebanon as lebanon is just too small for them to hide…

  Bottom line salafism is a problem but nothing of magnitude compared to the other problems lebanon has…

  The real danger is turning a group of useless fanatics to an armed group that can be used as a scapegoat for Hizbulla or Aoun.

  Rima,
  I really do think any understanding between any lebanese parties is welcome…
  But what really makes me uneasy is the view of those bearded felows getting together,we need less of those and more of the modern educated citizen,with more secularistic views….
  I wish one day we stop seeing those religion people around,let them stay in their holy places and get their hands of politics….
