MP Michel Murr officially announced on Monday that he broke away from the Change and Reform Parliamentary bloc to “maintain my independence.”
“I am neither with the opposition, nor with the majority,” Murr told reporters.
“I’ve been independent ever since I started my political career … I support any side that can promote a settlement,” Murr added.
He declared support for the separate Arab tours launched by Premier Fouad Saniora and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
However, Murr said he has “high hopes” on the outcome of Berri’s Arab tour.
“Every body awaits the outcome of Speaker Berri’s Arab tour, especially his visits to Damascus and Riyadh. These are the two major capitals and Speaker Berri can play a major role during this tour,” Murr added.
“If (Berri’s) Arab tour was positive, and if Syria and Saudi Arabia dismantled major obstacles … that would reflect positively on dialogue,” Murr said.

Murr you have never been independent, you don’t know the meaning of the word independent, you have always been someone else’s dog and you are looking for a new master.

Michele Ya Bannout, the real lebanese is everyone who has one aim … the election of a President … without any confrontation with 8 & 14 march …

Michele Murr was and still a corrupted politician. He only acts by his interests, and what he’s doing now caused by the refual of Aoun for the Presidency of Sleiman, which is supported without limit by Murr himself.
So for me I can’t trust Murr at all, but it is good to have him out of the Aoun’s Bloc, it will help in the next elections, since he can bring Tashnaq with him also.

Brother Rodge, Tashnag will forgive Amine Gemayel ? Read what is written in Assafir newspaper this day … nobody knows what will happen in the next Metn’s elections …
11. Rodge | April 9th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Marshall,
Tashnag were always known to be pro-State in Lebanon, measning because they feel they are a minority, they always seek to protect themselves by being allied with the Government.
That’s why they were with Murr, Lahoud and ultimately Aoun in 2005, and that’s why they will change in 2009, even though they don’t like Amine Gemayel. They will go where they have interest disregarding their personal feelings.
But in all cases, Aoun will not have a big chance now, since he will face Murr, Kataeb, LF among others, he will not be sure of the Tashnag, and he will only have the Snoopies if he still friend with them, till that time.

Rodge…by tradition the Armenians have always been with the government this is right. However lately they have changed for 3 reasons: their hatred towards the Hariris, their long term alliance with Murra nd much more important the fact that the Tashnag is a transborders political party and has a duty to protect all the armenians including those who are in Syria and Iran.
With the help of Murr a deal could be cut with m14 so that the armenians forgive the hariris as long as they drop some of “their” aramenians (eventhough I think Jean Ogassapian is a very good minister). Of course this was tried allready and Murr made his possible not to slpit up from aoun alone but failed. He will have another chance once an electoral law will be in place so that the deal will become more concrete. However there is still some doubts about if the Tashnag will turn against Syria and Iran in Lebanon…
Anyway claoun would loose any election in metn or anywhere else where he can’t have support from frangié or hizbis. But will there ever be elections again to start with…
13. Rodge | April 9th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Ziad,
Ur analyze could be so true, and you’ve dealt with important issues, but the way i see it, is that Murr received the green light from the Syrians to move away from Aoun, under some change in strategy, in which they won’t rely on Aoun anymore. For them he did his part in dividing the Christian community and giving a cover for the fully Shiite HA, and now they will try another strategy through Murr and maybe the Tashnaq with.
