“Invasion” day ..
Posted by N10452Today we celebrated the Hezbollah invasion of the South.
8 years ago, while Lebanon was invaded fully ( except the South) by Syrians. Israel withdrew from the South and gave it to the Syrian backed Hezbollah.
I am not sure why we should celebrate it as a liberation, since all we did is give Syria control all Lebanese soil after Israel was invading it. Some people argue that Syria was backing Hezbollah to liberate it, i ask them what makes Syria any less worse than Israel ?
What are Israel’s atrocities against the Lebanese when compared to the 30 years of persecution, killing, kidnapping, stealing the Syrians made us live ??
One example pretty much sums up HA’s behavior:
if you have a group of gunmen invading your house and your family inside and one gunman controlling the farm, you go after the farm then you free the family ?

N,
In 1982 the Isrealis bombed the shit out of us and killed close to 20,000 Lebanese in one summer, and then went ahead and took over part of our country and ruled it with torture and guns. The Isrealis tortured 14 year old Lebanese boys and women in their jails so let us not forget that.
So you see Isreal’s atrocities do weigh up quite well against the Syrian atrocities. They liberated the south from an enemy (Isreal)and we liberated the country from another (syria). Yes, both are reason for celebration.
Unfortunately for us once Hizbo kicked the Isrealis out they lost their cause for existence and became schizophrenic maniacs with guns, itchy trigger fingers and a desparate need to point their toys at someone. That someone became us.

Do you know there are alot of Maronites in the South that are gratefull to Hezbollah. Given, I’m not one of them, it’s not hard to understand either.

I doubt ya Courtfool, as most of my family is from the south n hate their guts!!!
Even my brother-in-law changed his “nouffouss” to get away from them.

nona,
if you were in marjayoun or khlayaa in 1982, you would have a different point of view…

Anyone remember just WHY Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982?
You may want to find out or ask someone who recalls the buildup.
Best wishes for peace and prosperity.

Israel invaded Lebanon because of the cairo agreement that let palestinians control the south and beirut backed up by islamic and left parties in Lebanon.
Syria killed more than the israelis, syria is an enemy (we don’t choose our enemies based on religion only) whoever invaded lebanon and ripped it is an enemy, whether it was a christian, sunni, shiite, alawite, hundu, budhist or jewish country
Israeli government and hizballah are both enemies to lebanon . Israel and america would like the situation in lebanon to be tense always. You see it’s good for the gun trade and money aid that israel will be receiving.
Now u will notice when Hizballah is in trouble or someone wants to discuss the dismantling of hizballah, israel launches a war and keep hezballah strong….?!!!!!!
now that hizballah has a blackpoint after the civil riots and war launched on druze and citizens in beirut Israel will be giving hezballah a great boost…Expect to see Samir Quntar and other detainees freed by israel. Ba3dayn bi2ilna hizballah shifto sila7 al muqawami shoo 3emil wa qareeban sa nu7arir sheb3a. In English Hezballah will dclare that his arms and weapons were the reason for freeing the prisoners

I find it pretty rich coming from Ouwetjis who collaborated with Israel themselves numerous times down south to kill their own Lebanese citizens.
If it weren’t for Hezballah, the South would be part of Eretz Israel i.e. “Greater Israel”- and we’d be experiencing more Gaza-style shelling and atrocities.
The Shekel was being used down there, Lebanese were forced to learn Hebrew.
Does the IDF commander think we’re fools when he claims that the South was just a “buffer” zone for security purposes? Bullshit - it’s all part of the invasion.
As for the Wilayet el Fakih, if Hezballah wanted a Khomeinist regime in Lebanon they’dve done it a looong time ago. But they don’t and Nasrallah has reasserted this point 9877392 times, I have no idea why you paranoid people keep bringing this up.
Now I agree on the point that their arms must be controlled. But this handover should be done in a very orderly process, monitored by our President and high ranking Lebanese military officers.
Anyway, I really hope we see eye to eye one day. As a Lebanese Shi’a Muslim, I hate the fact that there is a deep friction between us and some Christian Maronite + Muslim Sunni groups.
I just can’t believe you all don’t see this as a Liberation. Fine the Syrians did bad things in Lebanon for 20years+, but at the end of the day we were at war with a bigger enemy a bigger threat and in that sense Lebanese army + Hezballah required their support. After all this 10452km2 was occupied in the South, yes or no?

Lek ya Rhizoid, u think Lebanon was only occupied in the south?
What abt the rest of the country? For 30yrs Syria was occupying it n when they left, Nasrallah almost shed a tear n thanked them for everything!!!
Bisharrafak be a bit optimistic!!!!
I have lots of friends and relatives who were living under the Israeli’s invasion n guess what?
They say that it was a golden period. Money was coming, business was good n they were treated with respect.
Now go n have a visit there, u will see the atrocity they were facing day after day from the hezbies unless u consider the Christians non-lebanese?
Could u tell me why all the lebanese with no exception cheered when the army finally came to the south when hezbollah got kicked out?
I’m sure u can’t but still think about it!

rhizoid, Michelle has said it all.
The first Lebanese war was a response to the constant rocket attacks on our citizens living in the north….Nahariya etc. followed by the attempted asassination of the israeli ambassador to Britain.
Israelis have no quarrel with a free Lebanon.
Rhizoid…Life is short. Let’s make the most of it and live in peace.
