Gebran Tueni at Hall of Fame
Posted by N10452Update: I was informed by Sheikh Nadim that there is a statue there and it speaks as well, and its been there for years. So apologies for the missing information, nonetheless, Bashir Gemayel is still not appreciated in this country like he should be ..
[From Naharnet]
Slain MP and An Nahar General Manager Gebran Tueni’s statue will join local and world personalities in
Jeita’s Hall of Fame museum next week.
The statue was made in the United States and has arrived at Beirut port, An Nahar daily reported Wednesday.
It said Tueni’s statue, which will be unveiled on August 12, moves and recites his famous oath – a pledge by the nation’s Muslims and Christians to remain united in defense of Lebanon.
The museum hosts popular local personalities such as ex-Premier Rafik Hariri, Speaker Nabih Berri and Druze leader Walid Jumblat. Also, statues of world leaders such as U.S. President George Bush and former French President Jacques Chirac decorate the Hall of Fame.

We should make an entire museum dedicated to Bashir and another dedicated to the M14 martyrs.
As R said, they shouldn’t be mentioned in the same breath as those guys.

Sorry N for changing the subject…
I just feel so bad everytime I hear the word Hiwar and the discussions about disarming HA through Hiwar….I think if HA are squizzed again …they might do sthg to distract the public and point out one more time that their silah is crucial to offset Israel’s power….just that hiwar thing seems to suspicious to me.
5. Doc 1559 | August 8th, 2008 at 3:31 am
This martyr was patriotically correct but politically incorrect. He was one of the best patriotic men lebanon has witnessed.
When one side is lying, and the other side isnt, and you’re covering for the liar when you dont report the fact. Then, the political media is not balanced and you are part of the prb ( naharnet.com). However,in the case of jubran teuni things looked diferrent and definately unbalanced. A journalist should not be a politician or the verse versa… And jubran failed to spare between the both (journalist-politician).
Politics is not a game ,even if it often seems to be. It searisouly affect ppl’s lives. And a journalist should never take one side and ignore the other( RODGE 3M TISSAM3?)
At the end, why dont you guys stick to jubran’s pledge instead of building walls of seperation (similar to the israeli ones in palestine)between you and the rest of the lebanese ppl? Come on guys, move on , we have 18 sec in lebanon. Time for you to open up already.
Allah yir7amak jubran, Your alliance gave the 8th of march what you sacrificed your life for. I hope you’re not watching and I hope there is no life after death.

They talk about “hiwar” like it’s some magical solution that’s going to solve all of our problems. It’ll just be another Aspirin for Lebanon.
8. Rima | August 8th, 2008 at 4:41 am
Is there any example in ancient and modern history where disraming a political force was possible through negotiations?
I don’t understand why the 14th of March leaders keep asking HA to disarm? Is it a propaganda thing or they really beleive talking will lead to disarming?
why don’t they do sthg? Why do we have to trust them after they failed us in the first place?
If all they have is talking then they should just bow down to HA and let people defend themselves or surrerder.

Jibran Tueni is one of the best if not BEST persons that have dealt with politics in LEBANON… law kel l 3alam metlo kenna bi alf kheir…
10. nevermind | August 8th, 2008 at 9:58 am
That’s our problem in Lebanon, we worship people as if they are Gods….. a statue for this and a statue for that…
One wants to bring the dead back from their graves, the other wants to put the live one in…!!!!
I mean come on, for us Bashir was a hero, for others criminal… anyway,we are not bringing him back, and start for once to think more mature.
Rima,
You don’t believe in “hiwar”,fair enough, so do you have another solution? If the Lebanese government was strong enough, they wont even need a “hiwar”,believe me they would have send the army like in “nahr el bared”…
Sometimes “hiwar” helps, like with the IRA in northen Ireland… but I wont go so far, considering the difference in culture and civilization!
As I mentioned in previous posts, that i don’t think that HA will ever disarm, we had a chance when israel was fighting them in july 2006, and there will be no other.
So the solution, give them their state, and divide lebanon into states…. (if they will not like the idea, they might disarm!!!!!)

I don’t have any problem with israel, and I don’t understand why in the eyes of Aounieh (especially) , if you had a past with israel so you become a traitor?
Most of the Aounieh are christians, and most of them lived in the char2ieh, and if they were not involved,so at least a member of their family with israel….(go ask your parents….)
As for the others,non-aounieh, if you have a problem with that, well we are proud to work with the israelies, usa and europe, 1 billion time better than your filthy syria and shitty iran.
God bless you…
