    Wallah!!!!
At least some good news for our dear Lebanon.
Let’s hope in the book’s next edition (2010), Beirut will move to number 1 spot and stays there.

  • 3. Michele | October 16th, 2008 at 12:27 pm

Rodge did we at least check the nationalities n identities of the visitors? If u try to have a close up here what u’ll find:

    1) Amr Moussa (coming in n out)
    2) Arab leaders
    3) Unifil people
    4) Diplomats
    5) Lebanese expats
    6) Syrians coming in to deliver the weapons to Hezbollah
    7) Iranians coming in to Train and/or get trained by them
    8) Islamist terrorists running away from Iraq to hide in Lebanon
    9) and of course the gulf people (allah yekhallilna yehon) who come to do here whatever they can’t do there!
    10) Last but not least our dear politicians traveling visiting other countries for support n coming (unfortunately) back.

If u ever thought that Lebanon was visited by nice normal tourists well i’m sorry to break out the truth to u like that!!!!!

hahaha, Michele, you’ve forgotten the dead lebanese.they return every time short bevor the elections.

  • 6. Rodge | October 16th, 2008 at 1:46 pm

    Michele,

Unfortunatly you spoke the truth, and I realized that in my last visit to Lebanon, I even wrote a post about it.

But we can still hope for better situation out of the blue.

  • 7. Fuziyad | October 16th, 2008 at 1:47 pm

Very strange statistics from lonely planet, I think michele has gave some of the explanations…and ja3far don’t worry we won’t accuse you guys of lowering the number of vistors, be kaffé all the naive foreigners you manage to marry and bring back to da7yieh, that counts too!!!!

  • 8. chahe | October 16th, 2008 at 1:54 pm

Michele right on the money. None of the “visitors” are anything to be proud of.

  • 11. ja3far | October 16th, 2008 at 2:52 pm

Michel.. Ra’fat.. lebanon depended all his time on the arab tourism… these nice blue eyesed tourists you hope they come, were never our targetted customers… ( economical point of view )..

    salam

  • 12. Fuziyad | October 16th, 2008 at 2:58 pm

la2 bel 3akess, sa7ten 3a elbkon, bit of “west” in yr houses won’t do harm…

  • 13. Michele | October 16th, 2008 at 2:59 pm

Well Ja3far dear, if u read my comments i did say abt the arabs “alla yekhallilna yehon”!

However, we would also like to promote Lebanon’s historical n cultural side n we all know that it isn’t any of those Arabs’ interests.

Lebanon is not only down town, restaurants/bars/nightclubs, shops; we have great areas n places to be explored n only educated n cultured tourists would be interested.

  • 25. Lola | October 19th, 2008 at 3:29 am

Not that Im not happy with what the statistics showed but its in an alphabetical order and Lebanon comes after Chicago and its third..My point is its ALPHABETICAL.
And if it wasnt alphabetical Lebanon wouldve been first!
    Go Lebanon
