Annahar reported today that based on the elections’ stats, 58% of Christians voted for M14 candidates while only 42% for Aoun’s list.

R.I.P Tsunami :-)

PS: Even Al-Akhbar, the Pro-Hezbollah newspaper acknowledged Aoun’s defeat.

M14 has a clear victory, and so will pick the Prime Minister. The battle, however, will be over the heresy of the “veto third” – which has no existence in the constitution or the Taef Accord. Hariri has been consistently rejecting its continuation in the future cabinet, and he got support today from Jumblat as well, who called it a “fallacy.” M14 will agree to a national unity government, though its principled position now is that it rejects the “veto third” formula.

What will the position of the new government regarding Hezbollah weapons be? My guess is the negotiations table again with no results. If Hezbollah goes with the intentions of keeping their weapons, i see no change in the situation.

As for the blocking third, March 14th made it clear they will not accept it, Sleiman Frengieh stated on Manar TV that the opposition will not be part of the new government unless they are given the blocking third.

    Fuziyad,

He’s waiting for Syrian mukhabarati suicide experts’ arrival….

If true that is still a fair bit of support & quite troubling to be honest.

You would think with all that has has been said by Aoun & Co & what they have been part of that that no Christians in Lebanon would still be supporting them.

    Fuziad

Aoun committing suicide or preparing suicide? A bitter snake ready to bite Alla yostor!!!

We did see it coming, obviously we were getting the majority of the votes….

7assouna doubted us getting the majority of the people’s votes stating sumthin like ” even though u got the majority of the seats, that doesn’t mean u got the majority of the votes” …. I guess that proves him wrong… Now Aoun’s gonna bark about it being lies and rumours in tomorrow’s conference at 3:00 PM…..

So I suggest we wait for the final uncontested results (including stats) which will be posted on the interior ministry’s site by next tuesday… just to shut Aoun and Co up,

Although the nahar article’s pretty accurate

The comments in this article are alluding to Ghanem brothers as being non partisan and perhaps Aoun supporters!
