Bit like Persepolis, yet I doubt Jezzini will find any objection describing lebanese christians as blood thirsty criminals…

N,
I don’t advise you to see it, since I don’t think u’ll like the content. Myself I’m not proud at all of it, since as I understand they are focusing on what they called “Christian militia members invaded refugee camps in the heart of Beirut and massacred more than three thousand Palestinians while Israeli soldiers surrounded the area”.
Ari Folman, the movie director, was one of those soldiers, and he tried to tell the story through a soldier who was trying to remember what happened during the Israeli incursion in Lebanon in 1982. I think they are trying deliberately to put all the blame on the Christians and they make a very bad destortion to Bashir and the LF’s image, while trying to make the Israelis innocent.

Leaving all the usual rethoric aside, ayre bi Israel wou bi traboun… kharabouna
and I agree with Rodge, they want to put the blame on us
9. Fuziyad | May 20th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Very true Rodge, didn’t see the movie but an Israeli movie on sabra and chatila with a focus on the LF can only be showing Lf ers as being the criminals…
I guess hizbis will ask for this movie to be distributed so that everyone sees…
10. Rodge | May 20th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
U’re right Fuziyad,
They will try to benefit from it, eventhough it is an Israeli production.
11. Arze | May 20th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
True image of Israelis ! now they blame us for the Sabra massacre
any more israeli fans in the Lebanese forces ?
12. a5watz | May 20th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
Shalom kha,
kabro 3a2lkon guys.. Israel is THE NUMBER ONE force to back Christians in the region.
13. Not Lebanese | May 20th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Funny last night I’ve googled on the movie, he didn’t blame the Christians at all. In fact he compares the massacare to the Holocaust. And there is an image where a Pali boy from Sabra and Shatila get out with his hand raised (just like the famous image from Warsaw Ghetto)
Like all duped Israelis he take all the blame on Israel
14. Johnny.B | May 20th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Arze,
what’s your problem? I find this movie intersting to watch regardless of what I think about it.
15. a5watz | May 21st, 2008 at 12:19 am
Israelis.. poor bastards, they live such a paradox
They endured the holocaust, all the nazi barbary and cruelty. But they also engage in wars themselves, and kill palestinians everyday.
A note to u N, and particularly Arze, LF commited the massacre. Christian Maronite Lebanese Forces militiamen slaughtered(le mot est faible) civilians. If u wanna argue read the Kahan comission report:
http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/Foreign%20Relations/Israels%20Foreign%20Relations%20since%201947/1982-1984/104%20Report%20of%20the%20Commission%20of%20Inquiry%20into%20the%20e
finally, Israelis aren’t angels, but there neither demons if u r Christian and Lebanese.

Whatever the message it conveys, it seems to be an interesting movie, at least cinematographically and aesthetically. I wouldn’t condemn it before seeing it.
At least it should be an encouragement to make our own versions of movies, don’t u think?
17. Arze | May 21st, 2008 at 3:50 pm
Im gonna watch it to Jhonny as soon as i have the chance ! But what is said , is that the world will see bachir and the christians as the butchers…
i suggest we make a movie about him : )

Well the truth of Sabra and Chatilla is very elusive… Robert Hatem who was outside the camps that night (he was the bodyguard of Elie Hobeika) says in his book that it was Hobeika’s lackeys that did the killing, However, in “Les Secrets De La Guerre du Liban” the story goes in a different matter. According to Alain Menargues who did extensive research through Israely and Lebanese archives says that it was Israelies in Lebanese Forces uniforms and not the LFer themselves, who first went in and started the genocide. The two aren’t completely contradictory nor are they necessarily true.

Being Lebanese and thankfully having nothing to do with the right-wing naziclub ideology of the LF I look forward to this movie immensely. This happened only 25 years ago and even the israeli’s remember the LF as murderous collaborators. Now you understand why Hezb cannot give up their weapons. They need them to stop Judas mindsets like the LF’s that threatens Lebanon as a country of equals without it’s people living under the Facista LF flag. Funny how some lebanese find it so easy to sell out their fellow countrymen for the hope of power(anyone remember the SLA?). Thankfully the planned genocide failed and lebanon’s christians still have a chance with Aoun. You should be thankful to the guy. The Shia are no longer 2nd class citizen and don’t always agree with the LF and you’ll just have to deal with that

As an Israeli soldier, at the time in Lebanon, I can report first hand, that the Christian Militia were involved in the specific massacre, but not only that.
Their tratment of The palestinians was inhumane.
They used the Israelis as a sheild for their behaviour, and that is the only blame the Israelies carry.
That being said, that is not a justification for the Hezb. to continue on with more of the same, as an excuse.

Dear Mr. Whatever ( who left comment 19)
it is unbelievable that people like you can comment about the LF and associate their ideaologies with the Nazi’s. Your opinions are ignorant and it’s mindsets like yours that hold back Lebanon from growing.
It is especially unbelievable that you call LF fascist when you support Hezbollah and Aoun when Nasrallah wants to “aslim Lubnan”. When the head of a so-called political party bluntly says that he wants to impose his religion on a country this is what you call fascism. And you call LF nazi’s???
And no, Christians have no chance with Aoun, because Aoun is Nasrallah puppet. Once Nasrallah achieves his goals with his puppet he will get rid of him and the rest of the Christians. Aoun has sold his soul to the devil

hey
who are we kiding in here …
all lebanese , with all branches have done something terrible as sabra and chatilla the aim in here to see the other point of view.
and i think it s silly to talk stuff about some party keeping weapon for some reason ;am i right WHATEVER ,the chiaa militia also have done cruel thing …any way ….
i realy hope they r gonna let it come to lebanon and be broadcasted in the theater and not like what happened to the movie PERSEPOLIS
23. rach | June 8th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
Speaking of S & C - anybody know who the soldiers were that were outside of the Gaza Hospital on 9/18/82 - the ones that gathered the nurses and doctors?
24. D | June 10th, 2008 at 8:53 am
Actually PERSEPOLIS is being shown in Empire Sofil.

Hey all,
I saw the movie today, and am afraid all what you are saying is true, but also the majority of what the films shows, these are important points:
1)Shows Israelis killing families
2)Shows Israelis killing animals (dogs and horses) and regretting it
3)Shows them acknowledging doing war crimes and soldiers haunted by it
4)Shows Ariel Sharon could have acted to stop the massacre
5)Shows that some of them where repelled of what happened
6)Shows they knew Sabra and Chatila was gonna happen this way and that command in different ranks knew of it happening yet each blamed the other
7)You cant expect a better perspective from an Israeli…
About the LF:
1)It reminds how much Bashir was loved and how much hope was upon him
2)Each of you know that each LF fighter then was eager even to commit the massacre even if deep inside is against his Christianity and his beliefs but at the heat of the moment and instinct of vengeance were more than motif then
3)We know a lot were capable from LF to commit it, personnally I find it hard no one participated then, I think it was joint between the Israelis and LF
4)Ok this movies shows that massacre, but we know each militia then had its fair share of massacre, ma 7ada 7a2o daye3
