If they can’t stop “kinetic Energy Projectiles” then they have achieved nothing!
RPG and other exploding missiles have been neutralized for a wile the real thread comes from the “kinetic Energy Projectiles” that are high density titanium rods about 1 m long that travel in speeds up to Mac 4 and that are capable to reach their targets in less than 5 sec!
(The same kinds of missiles are also being used against Helicopters)

I’m sure we can find a divine counter-measure.

First Comment: This is an American System that is still being tested and has been having a very high failure rate and this is why they are not deploying it.
2. Because of the high failure rate, and the need to reduce armor to install it, its going to be a couple of years to come.
By then I hope we get a new president and we don’t up its testing grounds.

This is an Israeli system; some ‘General Dynamics’ cooperation .
It gives answers to all threats, including “kinetic”.
First pictures of Merkava / Trophy installation:

Amir:
This system is the same as Raytheon Quick Kill APS.
In a tight urban area, the Trophy system may take out the RPG, but may kill 20 people in the process as it fires randomly and might damage tanks running alongside it.
The system right now has no reloading capability. Once it fires, that side of the vehicle is vulnerable.
So of they fire 2 missiles on one side, your beloved Merkava becomes a defenseless pile of metal.

Fad,
I don’t know about the Raytheon product.
Trophy is re-loadable.! This was preconditioned
by the IDF.
“…So of they fire 2 missiles on one side, your beloved Merkava becomes a defenseless pile of metal”. (1) There are 2 more classified defense
systems, beside Trophy. (2) You’re right. I agree
that it was a mistake to send Merkava in places
it doesn’t fit . (3) statistically, during the
summer 2006 war, the number of casualties per
damaged Merkava was the lowest of all previous
battles.
I think that all this over-protectiveness is wrong, unnecessary, and encumbers the
performance of soldiers, but I’m not the decision
maker here.

Glad we agree.
I watched 3 years ago a show on discovery about the testing of similar systems which are motion sensitive.
The high cost of the installation/modification and the cost of the bullet it fires are the biggest problem.
The show I saw was even testing the weapon on sniper bullets which were always destroyed but the problem was also reloading and the collateral damage which in this case is whatever surrounds the defended object.

How about investing in peace instead, and not have to worry about all this crap? Even if it works, you know that they will find some $100 counter-measure soon and it will be nothing but heavy package.
To the Lebanese: stop gloating and wishing. You make us sick!
To the Israelis: respect international law, give back occupied Lebanese land, Syrian land, stop building illegal settlements and withdraw to the UN and internationally recognized 1967 borders and all is good. All Arabs have signed on that.
Otherwise, keep investing in death and you will only get death back.
