Germany & the LF

Why do LFers in general support the German team ?

Most of the old LF Generations ( 80s,early 90s) are supportive of the German football team. On every European cup or World cup, you see an overwhelming number of German flags in the Christian regions in general ( of course in many other non-Christian regions as well but am talking about the LF here).

Many say that this support goes back to Pierre Gemayel’s days since the Kataeb was influenced by the Nazi party, but this is false and very wrong since the Kataeb is far from the Nazi party in all its political & social aspects ( except some organizational matters).

I believe the main reason, and on which many agree, is related to Bashir and the LF golden era back in the 80s and then later with Hakim in the 90s. Once the LF was founded, The first office founded outside Lebanon was in Germany, and there were many Christian Germany parties funding & helping Bashir & the LF which created a certain bond between the LF & German parties and reflected in sports.

Most importantly, Bashir was supportive of the German football team himself, which made many support it as well.
As for the Hakim era, from what i heard, Hakim was also supportive of the German team which made even more Lfers support Germany.

    not everything has to do with politics especially SPORTS.
    As for the German team,even with all the respect to its supporters back in the 80’s and 90’s and even nowadays, the main issue is that people loves and always stands next to the champion, we grew up and heard about the glory of the german football, we saw them champions in 1974, champions in 1990,not to count runner ups, also won 3 times the euro cup,as for the german teams history they r the best in the world too, mentioning only my favorite team Bayern Munich they won 2 international cups,4 european champions league titles,1 uefa cup title,1 cup winners cup, 21 national championships and 14 German cups. As for the German fans in Lebanon they do not take it politically especially that Germany had nothing to do with Lebanon, but the fact is that the lebanese he takes it 3al baraki, our parents used to say in the 70’s and 80’s ” yil3an 3ard el 2olmani ya sheikh shoo dayan” shoo baddak ba3 el 230 laff ma khili2 3arabiyet, as for the BMW supporters” yikhribayta baddak sir3a ma fi illa el 2002 TII,” and our mothers had only one world,3ateeni ya samira el HOOVER (so everything was German made back then,also the SINGER and BOSCH washing machines , so people always link everything with everything iza the german products are good we go with the germans for all.

    To make a long story a short one, i think it more has to do with the Spirit .. the Spirit in which Germany plays soccer is the highest compared to other teams .. and we have a “similar” spirit with our Cause and Politics ..

    I must agree with N that most of the LFers i know are so into the German team, now abt the reasons i have no specific idea!

    I mostly agree with Elie.F in his idea, and I share him the same feelings towards the German national team and Bayern Munich as well.
    But I like to add one thing to what he said, if anyone remember the Transtel program which was aired on TL every Sunday with one game of the Bundesliga, it was another reason to love the Germans.
    I’m a German fan since 1974, so it has nothing to do with Lebanese Politics, and i’m an LF supporter since the era of Bashir without relating this to any German politician or party.
    In this regard, I agree with Samir regarding the German spirit, and I add the German mentality, I think it is their best quality, and i’m not talking about soccer only. It is close to our mentality in Lebanon, we have the same power to rise again, they did it after the world war 1 & 2, they moved in 5 years from a devastated country where the every US Dollar was traded for about 4 Billion German Marks, to the most powerful economy in the world.

    The Germans are Idols in Football and life

Isn’t it the same you are asking why LF people are bothered by Al Safir but not by Al Nahar?

    I don’t want to get into politics, since i’m focused 100% on Football these days, in particular cause Germany is winning and favourite for the title.

    But when things touch my filed of expertise, I find myself forced to interfere and clear out the issue.

    About the survey issued in Assafir, and especially for Joseph, I should clarify 2 points:
    - First, when a Media is taking one side, yes we can’t trust all it says, and this is the case of Assafir.
    - Second, it doesn’t mean that something is trustful or true if LBC mentioned something while saying that it was issued in Assafir, it is just an information.
    - Third Assafir can be wrong but not deliberatley, maybe someone, their sources for example gave them this news for a purpose.

    So don’t waste your time on discussing something no one can prove it, at least stuck to the reality.

    Arze, what’s wrong with the Syrians and their laws as long as you’re happy with them. They invited your general too and I’m sure he’ll make it soon. Concerning the presidency chair tell your general to go to http://www.ikea.com they have a large selection and he doesn’t have to worry about the price IRAN is paying.
