Euro 2008

I am a football fan and i’ve read some comments asking me to post about the Euro 2008.
I am a German fan, have been one since ever ..

This Euro’s organization is perfect, the hosting countries are ideal and the referees are impeccable.
Nothing beats a football cup organized in Europe ..

Tonight, The Netherlands crushed France 4-1, three of their 4 goals were splendid !
I ll post the videos once they are available on Youtube.

Germany performed poorly in its last game and will hopefully do the essential to qualify.

PS: i was always surprised why there are so many German fans in Lebanon, speciall among Lfers. However there is an explanation to it and i will post about it tomorrow.

The MANNSCHAFT has not shown its true face. Monday against Austria will occur quite different, I can promise you.

    I hope so Paul ..

Germany has a great chance of winning it this year ..

As you know even international soccer games are split by religion in Lebanon…

I have this theory that Shi3a are mainly Brazil fans, and Christians mainly Germany, Italy and akid french

Do you think I am right?

  • 4. Mickel | June 14th, 2008 at 12:36 am

The referees in this tournament are awful!
They’ve missed almost 4 crucial offsides calls; the most recent being tonight when they called Luca Toni offsides–although I’m not complaining about that one since I go for Germany and hate Italy!

Jean, I don’t think that different religions go for different teams, there’s a lot of Christian Brazil fans.

The funniest thing about this tournament is the Syrian workers:
    Ana ma3 l nejmeh w bachajje3 l barazil :D

  • 5. Samer | June 14th, 2008 at 6:57 am

    …and the referees are impeccable.

Did you watch the second half of Germanys game against Croatia? There was an obvious penalty for Germany near the end of the match right infront of the referee s eyes and he didn’t call it.

    GO GERMANY

good to know there are many Germans fans in here, and N thx for posting about that. I hope the Germans will overocme their loss against teh Croats, I’m sure they will.
But I would have preferred to prevent meeting the Portugal so early now.

Anyway. things can change a lot in the knock out games, and eventhough the Dutch and the Portuguese looked the favorites till now, but experiences proves that they will need to keep their luck with them till the end

  • 9. jad | June 14th, 2008 at 9:37 am

    go deushtlandddddddddd
but i think against the portuguese in the 1/4 final they gonna crush us if he is goin to play jansen at left back i think westerman would do a great job both in strength and quicknesse to control ronaldo
    DEUTSCHLAAAAAAAAAANDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • 10. fad14 | June 14th, 2008 at 10:01 am

Ya Paul: if you don’t show against Austria, who can you show against ?

Austria is among the worst teams of the tournament and is only there because they are hosting the event.

Croatia was the test for Germany and they failed it.

Gone are the days of the german team, last major win for them was 8 years ago and most of the current team were not part of it.

The coach has no prior experience and he’s only there because the big coaches refused to coach a team 3 nationalized players.

    Gomez, Odonkor and Podolschi.
    What a mess

During the previous EC, the Daily Star asked a Lebanese fan why he was for Germany. The answer: “they took care of the Jews alright and the enemy of my enemy is my friend”.

  • 13. M.N. | June 14th, 2008 at 11:53 am

    LF-der l a7mar
    7akim is a germany fan…

anyway i support spain and i don’t like the german team… guys let’s be realistic: Poland and Austria are maybe the worse teams in europe… if these 2 teams are your references there’s a problem…
as fad14 said the german team is gone with the days…
what frans beckenbauer said after the win against poland: we should not be afraid from anyone…
if germany has a good team he wouldn’t say this.. oh my god it’s just poland not italy or brazil…

anyway as i mentioned in a previous post till now netherland has the most powerful team… they are crushing the “BIG TEAMS”… today we can judge spain and sweeden…

    Cheers.

  • 14. paul | June 14th, 2008 at 12:03 pm

fad14: croatia was good against germany but not against austria 0:0.
    the match poland austria 1:1

you mean podolski odonkor gomez are not german?look to the players other nations, even turkey have a brasilian.
i think your thinking is outdated .

Löw is a good coach, but the problem, he has used the wrong players.

  • 15. Nick Mitri | June 14th, 2008 at 12:18 pm

Holland have destroyed both World Cup finalists.

    Spain are playing great football.

Germany have always been boring and couldn’t seem to get going against Croatia.

Just like Aoun didn’t get the presidency, Germany won’t win the tournament. Sorry boys!!!

Yes I am supporting Holland ……

I should be supporting my main team England, but their busy spending their $200,000 a week wages in Europe.

    Yalla, GO HOLLAND !!

p.s: half of the german team is polish

they’d actually laugh at lebanese supporters claiming their allegiance to germany in the football !!

We like Europeans and they see us arabs just like others. pity. We can change that though we need important Lebanese people in the world society. someone to show that there is something other that terrorists and hayfa wehbe (sharmata )in the region.

The Germans need to start Schweinstiger instead of Fritz because he’s always attacking and leaving Lahm defending two palyers by himself, that’s how the croats scored their first goal.

  • 25. Tarek | June 14th, 2008 at 8:47 pm

    I luv z Germanz. It’s just love.

Thumbs up for the Mancheft, though they really sucked against Croatia :(

  • 26. Rodge | June 14th, 2008 at 9:19 pm

    Guys,

Every team is allowed a fall, and that’s what the German had. You should not judge a team for one game.
And for those who are saying that the old days have gone for the Germans, I should remind them that they have finished subsequently 2nd and 3rd in the last 2 World Cups, and lately they played well.
As for Nick Mitri, I think u’re not allowed to criticize any other team, since ur original team did not manage to qualify.
Anyone can choose another winning team, so we are not considering you as Holland fan. Sorry

  • 27. Tarek | June 15th, 2008 at 2:48 am

    I luv z Germanz. It’s just love.

Thumbs up for the Mancheft, though they really failed against Croatia :(
