Thanks for your solidarity. I would like to do a question: Do you consider we can say that the Spanish troops are at war? The Spanish Government say our soldiers are in a peacekeeping mission but, I am afraid, the reality is quite different.

    Greetings from Spain.

I feel sometimes like it’s always war in Lebanon… Just not always fully blown…

Cromwell, Spanish troops are the victim of a terrorist attack, Dr. Geagea had a feeling this would happen. The UN troops should be extremely cautious from now on.

    Hi Cromwell,

And welcome to the Leabnese maze. We are really grateful to see someone like you looking for the truth in Lebanon, and believe you will find it at this Blog, because i can ssure you that you will find here the most honest people, even though i don not always agree with them i some points, but we have the same opinion towards the main issue. Answering to your question, i can tell you that the Spanish forces came here in a peacekeeping mission, without any will to fight anyone or on behalf of anyone, but what happened 3 days ago was done on purpose to force them to leave the mission, because those who are Lebanon’s ennemies (mainly Syrians and Israelis) are doing all they can with their allies to push Lebanon into war and isolate the country and try to end the international community support. Thta’ all the story, and God help the Lebanese and the UNIFIL with all its components. Cheers

Thank you for your words Rodge and Delta_09. I have been reading this blog for one year, since the breakout of the war between Hezbollah and Israel. You say that your country is a maze. I agree with you. I have to say that Lebanon’s reality is very complex. That’s why I read your blog every day, because I like getting information on Lebanon and its political situation. As one Spanish politician recently said, all problems that affect Middle East can be found in Lebanon.

The reason why I asked that question is because there is a severe controversy in Spain about the nature of the mission of our soldiers. There are people who state that our military men are involved in a war and, on the other hand, the Government say that they are in a peaceful mission. For instance, the Lebanese Government has given our soldiers a wartime medal while the Spanish Government has granted our soldiers medals that have nothing to do with a war mission. Could you provide me further information on this topic?

Finally, the only thing I can say is that I support Lebanon’s independence.

    Greetings from Spain.

i’m very sad for wht happened for the Spanish, and the UN.
But in the same time i think that the world have seen what we are living here in Lebanon.
I hope that the world understand now from where the terrorists comes.
For us if 6 lebanese dead in a bomb is normal ( from kamal jeneblat to walid ido……) and for the world is nothing for they are lebanese.
But now by killing the UN soldiers i hope that the way how the world look to the syrian terrorism in lebanon will change a bit.

    Dear bachir-7ay-fina:

All dead people are the same. I have to tell you that I knew the situation in Lebanon since 1983. At that time, I was a child but I remember those scenes from the Lebanese Civil War, and it was terrifying to see the level of destruction in Beirut. The things you say happen to people who do not point Lebanon on a map.

    Greetings from Spain.

    to bachir-7ay-fina,

you should also keep in mind the consipracy theory, maybe the u.n new about it and it was a deal with syrians or maybe the israeilis just so they get to make another UN resolution on the account of lebanon the spanish soldiers that died so they can spread more and more of their troops. you never know i might be right and might be wrong !

  • 13. paul | June 28th, 2007 at 5:40 pm

do we care about the people killing from the ETA?

  • 14. Rodge | June 28th, 2007 at 5:42 pm

    About the Conspiracy Theory,

Maybe Johnny B. is right. Yes it is a fact, many people think about the Conspiracy Theory, and i myself believe that it always exist. Nut the Arab people is taking this theory as an argument to explain his own leaders’ failure. Just a little example in our country Lebanon, the 8th of March partisans are accusing the US and the west, and of course Israel, that they are commiting all these crimes and not the Syrians. They’re saying that the Hariri killing is an American plan, and so on… Of course i don’t believe this, and i think it is the Syrians and any of their allies, since it is not strange for them. But if i want to agree with the 8th of March and the other Arab people, who still believe in Moukawamat Israel through Syria and the rest, i should ask this question. Did the US kill Ramzi Irani, or Pierre Antonios?? did they take Dr. Geagea to the Prison because of his Political thoughts?? are they the responsible for hundreds of Lebanese in the Syrian prisons, and no one knows if they still alive. Are they the responsible for the murders back then of Kamal Junblatt, Rene Mouawad, and Hassan Khalid, and others of course, such as the journalist Salim Lawzi. Are the Amercians and the west the ones responsible for robbing our organizations and agencies and banks, for all the corruption witnessed during the Syrian perios, as well as the Black Boxes, mainly at the Casino Du Liban and the EDL. Are they responsible for not implementing the 1559, the thing that led to all the miseries we’re living now?? did they tell the Syrians not to withdraw from Lebanon, even though the war was over in 1990, and the Armu was built (they told us so). and many more questions, i can go and on all night long. this is the real conspiracy, if it is planned by the US and the west and Israel, it is well implemented by Syria, Iran, and allies in 8th of March. the latters are the responsible for the current situation, the same can be applied in Iraq. they consider that the Americans are responsible for the current chaos there, but blindly they forget about Saddam who is the real responsible, and the same the Palestinians, who were too busy in the previous decades to bring chaos to Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Tunisia, and Kuwait, while they forgot to start liberating their own country, their lands sold to the Jewish people. Our disaster is our own not the west, we as Arab people, and some Lebanese hve contributed a lot in this act. sorry for talking too much. God bless you all

UN troops patrol the south region by tanks but their cannons covered with clothes and the 50.cal covered with clothes too….what the point ????
what if an attack takes place??? a soldier will come out of the tank … climb down and take the clothes off??? they should be more aware….
