Again i dont know if this is funny or sad, but what i encountered today just shows how much we are behind as a society .. it made me think whether we can blame our politicians for not reaching an accord while we cant even respect a handicapped parking sign.

I was parked somewhere today waiting for a friend when i see a car parking right in front of the Handicapped sign, so i asked him rethorically: Isnt this a handicapped spot ? you cant park here.

And his answer was: I wont be long

Of course no one was there to yell at him, the sign was just there lal ferje …

Then another guy comes in on an ‘ATV’, and parks in the handicapped spot as well, i didnt bother ask him anything, but rather took him a picture … he didnt look handicapped at all, but rather sure of himself and not even considering the fact he was parked in a spot reserved to handicapped people ..

And you ask me why our leaders are so crappy ??

Maybe we should ask ourselves do we deserve better leaders or not ?

Great post N. I live abroad as you know by now. One thing to ask? Why do the lebanese obey the law overseas and break it every day in their home country? The reason is simple, there is no one to enforce the law and when it is enforced, the connection (wasta) interferes… We have no respect to our constitution and laws. How many times do we amend the constitution for one time and one time only ? LOL. Ya haram 3a Libnen. We really do not deserve our country.

This is where the authority steps in and tickects or towes the vehicle away…..the key word is authority, the thing that Lebanon lacks.

    N,

I have been reading your posts for the past few weeks with great interest. I agreed with some and disgareed with others of your views; however, my respect to you kept going north!
This one is definitely straight in the bulls eye. It tells a lot about us and our fortunes or misfortunes…

    Delta,
I remember when i was in London once, the fines there were huge .. ya3ne for not picking ur dog’s shit u paid like 250 pounds !

I saw fancy people picking up their dog’s shit in bags …

Hit them where it hurts, this is how you should deal with such people, but then again government must serve you and thats not the case .

Mourakib, Thank u for ur feedback.
Much appreciated and i would be glad if you have any comments on my posts in general, what bothered u, which u disagreed with etc ..

    thank you

This is lebanon fellas, where u pound a beer while drivin, where there are no speed limits, no rules nothin, where you smoke the blunt and u ain’t even trippin. Some things will never change bi lebnen but at least khayeh we wanna be able to live together and enjoy life khayeh and all the things that i’ve mentioned can be fixed when we settle things down a little and establish common ground.

    @Eliane,
You can’t really blame the people because Lebanese abroad do behave themselves. The moment the police start enforcing the law, is the moment when the Lebanese start obeying by it.

Somehow, the Lebanese are proud of the fact that they don’t follow rules. Many times I have heard people here defending themselves by simply saying “But we’re Lebanese, we cannot follow orders or behave in a disciplined manner, we are too individual for that”; which is among the biggest example of self delusion ever.

If there’s one country where people follow each other and their leaders blindly and where people dread standing out of the crowd, it’s Lebanon (or rather, the whole Arab world).

Try being unique here by not having the latest cell phone and see how long it takes for others to make nasty comments.

This makes sense. Mentally handicapped can park there. In fact what needs to be done is more of these signs everywhere, so that people with mental disabilities can park. Reserve a couple for normal people.
