see the bright side of it. Those women are officially literate and have a degree. In some cities in the US women are still illiterate and think that Iraq is a state within the US and that Israel is a muslim country!!!!

Tareq,yes of course I know that the movie will not be shown in any Arab country.It was only my feeble attempt to make a joke. The Egyptian police band was portrayed in a most sympathetic manner and the movie would have been Israels nomination for an Oscar in the foreign film category,but was rejected for not using enough of the Hebrew language.It is a sweet movie and a relief from all the tragedy and violence we experience all around us.
Being entertained and enjoying life is also a political protest,in a kind of way.

Well this whole veil thing is not related to Islam, it is a tradition. I personally always make fun of people who put veil. I totally admit that every body have the right to wear or believe in anything he wants, but I also have the right to make fun and laugh about everything I see. Cheers.

Many of the stated arguments make sense.
The Islamohobia is filling the whole media and I frankly thought about it as part of that campaign which is filled with hatred and animosity.. I also had many unfortunate incidents in Lebanon that showed a great deal of sectarian feelings…
Anyway thank you for your replies.

May be we can meet someday in Lebanon though I am a bit far away these days. As for accepting the other, you can try me but of course with respect.

No offense Maroun, but you are a FunKiller buddy…. Enno where’s the big deal in posting this pic and why are u so deffensive of the Yemeni grad outfit. I’ve seen people graduate in muslim countries and they don’t look the same to me….. so this is not an insult to any muslim or muslim tradition. My G/F is muslim and believer and she laughed her head out when she saw it.

Tareq,in my opinion,you have got it right.

Talking about funny, I saw an Israeli movie tonight and a lot of it was in Arabic.If it ever gets to Beirut go and see it. “Visit of the band” is it’s name, and is really funny. About a bunch of Egyptian musicians who land up in a dreary Israeli town through some error or mismanagement. Now,that is really funny. Perhaps the movie will land up in Beirut through a similar mess up. ha ha ha!

Hania when did not I respect women?…I am against the veil because I respect women…I think the veil is from the man who force the women to hide and not be normal part of society…Please explain better why you feel not respected from my opinion.
