Rodge,
reading what Michele said here, I think there is a technical problem in the blog N, since many of my latest comments didn’t show either on the blog or even under moderation on my screen.

10. Arze | January 7th, 2009 at 1:56 pm
i never understood why orthodox in Lebanon dont celebrate the russian calendar ….can some1 explain ?
11. Fuziyad | January 7th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
ARZE, GREEKS AND RUMANIANS ALSO CELEBRATE on the 25th, IT ALL GOES BACK TO 15-16TH CENTERY,THERE WAS A BIG ORTHODOX PATRIARH MEETING IN 15TH-16TH CENTERY AND ALL PATRIARHS ACCEPTED THE NEW CALENDAR THAT WAS CORRECTING THE MILENIUM ERROR OF 13 DAYS,ONLY ABOVE TREE DID NOT ACCEPT THAT WHAT POPE GREGORIO WAS PROPOUSING AND REMAINED AS TRU ORTHODIX ON THE OLD JULIAN/CESAR / CALENDER
as my dad is orthodox and my mum maronite I always wished that that we followed the armnenians, to celebrate twice…but santa claus never delivered on that request nor on many others(this year I asked him for shebba farms and HA weapons)…I think he’s too busy drinking…
12. ja3far | January 7th, 2009 at 4:46 pm
Fuziad … i think he was busy delivering some extra “mounee” for the HA
13. Fuziyad | January 7th, 2009 at 5:09 pm
wrong ja3far, he got beaten up by the indibat for being red and white when tried to enter da7hiyeh, he only escaped after a wasta done by abbas hachem

ja3far,what do you say when 3ashoura comes,i mean we say merry christmas or ad7a mbarak , how you congratulates(or not) each other?
16. ja3far | January 7th, 2009 at 8:52 pm
Paul… it will need a small philosophical explanation about the event…
the way shia see 3ashoura contain some similarities to the way christians see what hapenned to jesus… it is all about sacrifice..
however, shia dont see that the death of hussein was done to take our sins but to guide us back to the right path … the path we should follow that will lead to take our sins …
death by itself is like a reminder, a test or a path god put the people who know the dead person in to learn the lesson … and to be patient and get closer to god…
usually if the people are religious you tell them :
3azam allah lakoum al ajer…
which means may god pay you back in the patience you are showing in the misery and sadness you are feeling through forgiving your sins and getting you closer to him…
i hope i was able to give a small idea
salam
17. paul | January 7th, 2009 at 9:15 pm
3azamma allah lakom al ajer…doc,ja3far,
arze and other lebanese chi3a.
18. paul | January 7th, 2009 at 9:27 pm
Michele,@4 i feel honored and i would like to say:Change happens because the lebanese people demand it
because they rise up and insist on new ideas and new leadership, a new politics for a new time. Lebanon, this is one of those moments. I believe that as hard as it will be, the change we need is coming
19. ja3far | January 7th, 2009 at 9:36 pm
