Bachir Gemayel: 25 Years
Posted by N10452Its been already 25 years !! yet his name is on every political discussion and on every event or incident ..
A true idol, a true legend .. this is what Bashir has become ..
Even those who didnt know him, miss his presence everyday, one can listen again & again to his speeches and never get bored, never understand how this man managed to do so much with so little, spoke so little but meant a lot …
It was too good to be true .. a dream that evaporated and turned into a nightmare that Lebanon still didnt wake up from.
An event is being organized on the 23rd of August to commemorate the 25th anniversay.
You can find below the text from the BG site.

For Bachir, and with Bachir always.
It has been 25 years since he was elected president and then assassinated, but to those who love him, Bachir is still alive in them, with them, for them always.
On the 23rd of August, in memory of the day Cheikh Bachir Gemayel was elected president, a giant poster will be hung at Sessine square in Achrafieh.
At 6:00 P.M. the poster will be raised in Sessine, then the crowd will proceed to the Kataeb house in Achrafieh where Cheikh Bachir was assassinated, to pray for his soul.

I REMEMBER THAT DAY I WAS FACING YOUR FORCES IN THE ALLAY FRONT. I KNEW HE WILL BE KILLED, YOU CAN’T TURN YOUR BACK ON SYRIA AND GET AWAY WITH IT. WE LEARNED THE LESSON WITH KAMAL JOUMBLAT.

But we can, and we will, Walter Peers. At high cost, sure, but we will.. I hope you agree.
We will never forget, we will never forgive.

We can talk about Bashir for days and months without giving him what he really deserves. All we can say is Rest In Peace Bashir, and “Min Khallaf ma Mat”. Bashir did not bring Toumna and Nadim only, he brought millions of Lebanese who believe in Lebanon Free, Stable, and Prosper.

yes lopa. we will never forget.
i was chased out of lebanon by the seryians, i fought them then and they knew that i did. they were after me i became one of the usual suspects. i spent time in their jails. had to be smuggled out of the country. sure i will never forget. at least i have some gratification in the fact that i took care of a few of them when i had the chance. and the ones that paid the ultimate price were from the mokabarat. and i will do it again given the chance.

Ya Bach:
You were my hero from day one, when you taught my class civic education (tarbieh madanieh) way before the war. Yes, Bach taught high school before he engaged in politics. We could tell at the time he was going to be something else and he did turn out to be the savior of Lebanon.
I still miss you Bach and dream often of what a great country Lebanon would have been with you-
Thank you for laying down the foundation of the New Lebanon away from the syrian thugs.
You still resonnate among all of us.
