Will Syria let us have a new president ??
Will Syria let 14th of March go out as victorious after two years of assasinations and bombings ?

Everytime we have a major achievement, Syria would do everything to spoil it ..
One might wonder why there were no assasinations lately ?? Simply because it was not in Syria’s favor yet, and unless they were pressured by the Europeans and accepted their defeat in Lebanon, which i highly doubt, i have a feeling Syria is preparing something big, that will be the trigger for a new war or will cause major chaos in the country …

I sense Syria will got after one of its own men, kill a member of the 8th of March or maybe a member of the Aoun bloc, Syria knows by now that by dividing the Christians, it will weaken all of Lebanon and it will try to go for it one more time …

I hope i am wrong, but i dont see Syria letting go that easily.

    Let’s understand a few things.
    • Syria thinks of Lebanon as a part of greater Syria.
    • Syria will not let go of its financial win falls that easily as far as there’s no greater force threatening it. i.e. Like Turkey did in the Ocalan case
    • Hizballah is not a Lebanese party. It is the extension of Iranian Islamic “resistance”
    • As far as we have an armed and well financed group that threatens everyone, how could any party have any freedom of choice?
    • The only way is to resist. It seems that Sunnis have a choice to make. Either succumb to HA and be enslaved or fight. I only mention the Sunnis as Christians are marginalized. They have effectively become pawns in others’ negotiations. They’ll always have a fucking idiot megalomaniac like Aoun to use. However, the marginalization of the Christians is more apparent in that they are being bought out in the same manner that HA has bought out the Shia vote. However, there is one difference Whiney Aounies do not comprehend in their drunken and stoned stupor: Christians will not exist in Lebanon in ten years as a political force (and they’ll have only themselves to blame for this time)!
    • Lebanon as was known will cease to exist! HA and Syria will not allow the state to exist and flourish. Once HA’s usefulness is done we’ll see a conflict between Syria and HA.
    • Syria cannot and will not tolerate a Hizbastan next door. They can have a bunch of bearded marauders and killers that are checkmated by other factions only…

So let us stop whining. The end is near. Someone should tell the old Batrak to stick to praying. He has made a mess of things trying to kiss everyone’s ass! Pack your bags and leave…OR…if you really believe in this country write your will and get ready to kill the other side. There’s NO WAY OUT!!!!

while kouchner is in beirut wondering who is blocking the deal, he knows that jean-claude cousseran is in teheran, striking a deal with walid al-moalem and manusher motaqi on michel khoury and the legitimization of hezbollah militia.

well let’s hope nothing will happen,as long as the army will not stay aside it will be the bigest slap for lahoud and aoun, but if general george shreim and shemil rookoz and some of aoun’s former generals will try to play the same role as on 23/1/2007 yi3ni 3ala el dounia el salam.i still can not imagine that those heroes then wanted to break assad’s head and to fight with the fork and knife against him and now they r doing the big favor to let them sneak again.bee3na yeha ya general,if you have now 60%of the christians and u think that gives u the priority to be the president i want to remind all that camille chamoun had 70% of the christians since 1952 up to 1986 and he was president only one time,i do not remember him burning the country everytime there was elections.

You don’t get freedom, the freedom is given to you, you earn it with blood! Every country in the world since the beginning of history fought for its freedom and paid with blood! We Lebanese must continue to fight to deserve the freedom!

I agree with your assessment. One of March 8 men will be assassinated and a major conflict will start! Unless the wise people will stop it! I don’t know if it is Berri, Al-Murr, Aoun or other major March 8 player!

I hope that the March 8 people will recognize that if you lose the election, wait until next one and if you think that you are the majority, you will select the president! Enough the law of the jungle!!!

Syria will NEVER leave Lebanon alone they never do it in the past before the war…They close the border in the 1950 and 1960 to pressure Lebanon and they send weapon in 1958 against Camille Chamoun…Not only Assad but all Syria regimes like this…If Syria is merte7a Lebanon ma byirte7 and if Syria mesh mirte7a Lebanon ma byirte7 they are a life pain in our side (and other place too! :-)

Syria fell to the Ottoman Turks in 1516 and remained a part of their Ottoman Empire for four centuries. In 1916, the Arabs took the opportunity of World War I to revolt against the Turkish rule, Later in 1918, Syria was declared an independent kingdom under King Faisal I AND LEBANON BACK THEN WAS PART OF SYRIA and then the french decided to free LEBANON. On November 22, 1943, Lebanon declared its independence but the main issue (souriya al kobra ) remained the same till this day .

Every time I discus this issue with my syrian CO workers i hit a DEAD END. The question is : ARE WE FIGHTING FOR OUR FREEDOM OR THE SYRIANS HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEFEND THEIR RIGHTS (or what they call their original land) ? Advice plz …

Yes, Syria does have an influence in Lebanon but the fact is that many Lebanese do support Syria - especially among the Shi’a, although they are also joined by a minority of the Christians.

Until those people change their mind, there will always be a pro-Syria bloc in a democratic Lebanon.

The solution, for March 14th then, is to either find a compromise, or use political leverage to curb the growth and influence of such views as much as possible. And thats politics - and life.

do not blame syria for the bad intention in Lebanon, blame the lebanese syrian allies who are ready to kiss bashar’s ass just so he will be radi 3announ or to be President. We grew up w aware about syria, but as long as fi ppl helping them in lebanon achieving their dreams, so why should they leave us alone? il mouhem inno il stupid general wakes up before he takes all christians to their graves kermel kerseh, ya rayto ahel fiya.

Ali 1559…The syrian colleague is maximum 50% right…Mount Lebanon was never part of Syria it is always independent from Ottoman rule and Syria…but the Grand Liban that France created is much bigger than Mount Lebanon so Syria doesn’t like it…They have same problem with Liwa Iskandaron it was taken by Turkey but it is for Syria but they don’t dare to say anything about it because Turkey is strong…

Lebanon’s name exist in the Bible (old testament) much before Syria ever is mentioned, Lebanon is NOT all part of Syria and in history Phoenicia border was until Tartous but we can not keep going back to 1000 years back to say this is mine not yours like the problem in Israel and Palestine.
