We only know how to REACT …
Posted by N10452Yes, this is our sole problem as Lebanese .. we React and never Act ..
It is not religions and strategical alliances, it is not IRan & US, it is ust that we never act in order to solve our problems, but wait for a trigger to react and then come do nothing until the next trigger.
Even the biggest achievement we did as Lebanese, the Cedars Revolution, 14th of march was a reaction …
We get angry and demonstrate when they kill a politician ..
We start making anti civil-war organizations when the war is almost there.
We do nothing until we are told to do it ..
I dont know how we will get anywhere with such mentalities, it looks like war is what we are looking forward to right now …
So Sad !

This is 100% true, however you omitted the fact that this is a third world country, even if we live in a so-called democracy we are still living in a tribal system, in other terms leaders call the shots, leaders ask you to this or that. What is even sadder is that most leaders (if not all) are being told what to do…

I would also like to add that because of all which I previously said in my post, there is absence of initiative… this is why everything is either a reaction to things.

You are righ, ya abo elshabah… I add twp points:
1- We really need to “pro-act”.. not just act!
2- Usually we, as Lebanese, we proact on distruction: before 1975, we hid arms proactively in preparation for war, now, I understand, the sales of arms rose three time! Is it proactivity for war??
Following Steven Covey’s categorizations, we are “dependent” people… who claim we are “independent” while we should be “interdependent”!..
How can we make the change? I am starting with myselff and my son by bringing him away from fear, 3asabieh, “el 7aram”, guilt feeling, hate, etc… and telling him his relation with God is his own personal experience that I have nothing to do with me or other people…
