Maronite Bishops’ Historic statement
Posted by N10452It is a historic one, and as Marwan Hmadeh described it tonight, one that can be compared to the 2000 statement.
Bkerke is OFFICIALLY against boycotting those elections, and wants the president to be elected constitutionally and with the 2/3 presence ..
“Maronite Bishops on Wednesday stressed that all MPs should take part in a parliamentary session to
elect a new president, noting that boycotting such a duty is tantamount to boycotting the nation.
“It is the duty of the honorable MPs to attend the election session in order to shoulder their
responsibilities towards their homeland and their citizens. Refraining in this domain is tantamount to
boycotting the homeland,” the bishops said in a statement after their monthly meeting under
Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir.”
This is a clear message to Aoun and his MPs that boycotting those elections can only be against the Christians’ interest …
So lets wait and see how Aoun’s MPs will react to this statement.

I believe Aoun reacted yesterday to the statement in Kalem l Neiss saying that he thinks the Bishops should do a Bayen talking about the “Majliss l Doustoureh” before doing this one.
Note that I am not agreeing with Aoun on this, I am just reporting what he said.

True, this is what he said but i dont see how it is relevant now … even with the number of Mps he believes belong to him, the majority is still not his …
And his statement just proves how low-life he is, since he knows those Mps li mat3oun fiyoun wouldnt have made a difference if Syria had not assassinate 6 Mps from the 14th of March alliance …

You know the old Stalin question: How many divisions does the Batrack have?
Sorry to say again Sfeir shot himself in the foot and the country in the ass with his 2/3 interpretation of the quorum. He should have said 2/3 is great, but 50%+1 is LEGAL and the last resort (or just shut up on the issue).
Now what?

Honestly guys,
you don’t expect aoun or H.A or Franjieh to listen to any bishop now do you ? mazeil franjiyeh byitmaskhar 3al batrak, w aoun can’t listen to anybody below his belt enno you really expect them to have a 1% of christianity in them and give an ear to a bishop?

“you really expect them to have a 1% of christianity in them and give an ear to a bishop?”
Keep you religion to yourself… Maybe it’s time for the Bishops to have their own political party. Otherwise they should just focus on their REAL job.

Do u really think that aoun will take bishops statment into consideration?????
Ibrahim Kenaan said yesterday that Tayyar will not attend september 25th session..
when the patriarch say something for his benefit, we see him in Bkerkeh..otherwise he disregards him….
what do we expect from a person who sent his people in the past to humiliate the patriarch???
what do we expect from people who said that Antoine Ghanem is killed because he wanted to join the opposition????
anyway MAYBE we expect something from some the deputies with him (Nhemtallah Abi Nasr, Farid Khazen and some others..)MAYBE they will think of Lebanon first instead of General first…(i said MAYBE)…
Josey Wales, the patriarch is the head of the maronite church and not of a political party. All he can do is sending clear messages that everyone can understand and it’s up to them to react or not… in the past he named candidates for presidency and no one listened to him, so it’s very wise from him now not to enter into these small details..
Jhonny, if you please tell us how Aoun took the christians majority votes in 2005.. not because of his fanatic christian speeches??? so please take a decision. Or you are christians defending the christians rights (slogans of 2005 and Metn elections) or you are laic people who refuse to use religion in their political work..
Cheers.

” Maybe it’s time for the Bishops to have their own political party. Otherwise they should just focus on their REAL job.”
Their job is the salvation of the people, and they are working on it.

guys don’t mix up between me (Johnny.B) and the other one (Johnny) ok ????
15. johnny | September 22nd, 2007 at 11:48 am
Johnny B, your videos prove my point. If the Patriarch is willing to play politics, he should expect a response from our beloved politicians and unfortunetly, this is the kind of politicians we have.
M.N., your response is not related to the discussion in any way. And I don’t support Aounists’ behavior in Metn elections either.
Vox P, you are right. Salvation in its spiritual context.
Johnny B., don’t worry about it… No one will.
