Il etait une fois …. le Liban
August 4th, 2006 The title of my blog is French for a change; one of my friends had that nickname and i think it expressed what i am feeling right now.

Lebanon was assasinated, stabbed in the heart, it is without a soul and its blood ( its youth ) is being sucked by Lebanon’s ennemies.

We were celebrating a year and 4 months ago a new independance day, a historical day that the Lebanese people achieved, united Christians and Muslims not caring about their political leaders storming the streets, giving flowers to the Lebanese army and demonstrating for Lebanon’s freedom.

However, similarly to the 1943 independance that wasnt probably achieved, this independance had a missing piece, which consisted of a lebanese group, called the Party of God ( Hezbollah) threatening Lebanon’s future by its militia.

For more than a year, Politicians from Geagea to Jumblatt and even the government have been warning about the threat Hezbollah represents and the risks of getting Lebanon into a bloody regional war.

However, they havent done anything to stop this threat and here we are, paying the price of our politician’s incompetence and Hezbollah’s destructive and Anti-Lebanese Pro-Iranian Pro-Syrian Islamic plans.

Lebanon is being destroyed and there is no stopping for this war Israeli launched. They have a goal called Hizbullah, then Hamas, then Qaeda … they cannot afford to stop before erasing those parties and who s paying the biggest price ? Lebanon of course…

We ve been taken 50 years la wara, and i dont know anyone not thinking of leaving Lebanon except the Hezbllah;s supporters who moved from their villages and illegal houses in the Beirut suburs to Christian and Sunnite and Druze cities and invading houses and causing trouble.

I am not desperate, i am totally convinced that i am no good for my countrry if i stay here, at least not for the next 10 years.

I ve demonstrated, fought, been jailed and interpelled, seen my friends getting beaten fighting for Lebanon, we earned our independance, however failed to remove this rotten class of politicians and pave the way for a new young generation founding our new Lebanon.

Our current politicians cannot change anything, and we as young men in this deplorable situation cannot help out, we cannot sacrifice our carreer anymore pay the price later like our parents did.

What is happening is really sad, and if this war will expand to become a regional war, and if Americans have in mind to apply the Kissinger plan again by opening the embassies for Christians and facilitating the immigration papers, then we must just say byebye to Lebanon, at least bye bye to the Lebanon that gave birth to heroes like Fakhreddine, Camille Chamoun, Kamal Jumblatt, Pierre Gemayel, Bashir Gemayel, Charles Malek, Fouad Frem el Boustani, Gibran Khalil Gibran and finally Gibran Tueni and Samir Kassir ..

I am being pessimistic but things so far are going in that direction.

Lets Hope i am wrong, but in any case, i cannot afford to waste my time in Lebanon right now and this is the feeling of most of the Lebanese youth.

Regards,
