GebranOne of Lebanon’s biggest losses was Journalist Gebran Tueni. A young charismatic bold man who was not afraid of the truth, who was fighting day and night for Lebanon’s independance and became the voice of all freedom fighters.

He died, people cried and cheered for him during his funeral, then forgot about him.
Politicians dont mention his name, people only remember him when they see his poster on Annahar building.

It is sad, that our martyrs be forgotten this way, specially rare people like Gebran.
His oath truly expressed what the 14th of March was all about. Everyone felt that way and Gebran as always was capable of expressing it perfectly.

“In the name of God

We, Muslims and Christians,

Pledge that united we shall remain

To the end of time

To better defend our Lebanon”

    Ramy,
No martyr is more important than any other, however martyrs of war are different from politically assasinated martyrs.

Others were killed during fights, those were killed because they spoke freely and it is normal that you remember them more, but that doesnt mean others are less important.

May his soul rest in peace. He was one of the most courageous guys . He was always against Syria and he never felt afraid to say the truth . I would just like to remind all people that he was defending Samir Geagea while he was in prison and Michel Aoun while he was in France and he tried to unify christians in lebanon.

    - Can anyone tell me what exactly is happening regarding the mountain refugees ?. Why they wait till Michel Aoun raised his voice? Why Lebanese Forces didnt settle this before Aoun conference?
These people are our brothers and sisters and its our responsibility as Lebanese Forces to do whatever we can to return these families to their villages because its their rights to live in their homes and villages and to build churches.

  • 7. Irange | October 1st, 2006 at 2:42 pm

Gebran and all our martyrs are always in the minds & memories of the Lfs but hope all the Christians will not forget them and especially the Irange Movement Followers

Dear Shadow, the Lebanese Forces is working on this subject.
Georges Adwan is working continuously and the people of those areas know what is happening.
Please don’t fall in the trap of the media and don’t believe that because Michel Aoun talked, they start settling the subject.
What happened actually is that they start talking publicly when the Aoun wanted to make from himself a hero. especially that bado ybayid wej ma3 el massi7ieh w fi chouyet zakzake la Walid Jonblat.

I hope that the Christians at the mountain and all the Lebanese Christians in general don’t fall in the Trap of this man and don’t believe him anymore because he is a liar with he only target to be part of the Government and wish maybe the president (by the way even Hezbollah doesn’t want him to became a president w 3am yda7ako 3ale)

Did you noticed that Mannar, Radio el Nour and NBN where the TV stations who covered this event. Same TVs who all Syrian allies’ movements in Lebanon…? Is it weird?
Are the Syrians trying to pass some messages to Walid Jounblat through the Irange insane…?

  • 8. Shadow | October 1st, 2006 at 4:00 pm

Dear Irange , Most of Lebanese Forces guys are not knowing what exactly is going on . There is a big gap between the people whose responsible for LF and the rest of LF. I know Michel Aoun and his allies are trying to gain some popularity in christian communities after he lost many of the christian supporters during July war.The main problem is that Lebanese Forces is Responsible for these people as we are christian resistance and this problem is kept dragging on since 1990. We want all christian refugees to return to their homes as soon as possible and we want from people who are responsible for Lebanese Forces to give us updates on what’s going on . I hope that this subject will be closed before end of year or christmas, Otherwise these people will look at LF as a mafia whose trying to trade or negotiate on there bloods. I’m very confident that Lebanese Forces will know how to close this Subject and they will close once for all and all people will return to their homes. I hope they will not disappoint us .

He never got out of my mind since he left us. I have his photo in my room, a deep respect, and a sincere admiration in my heart for this, one of his kind, journalist/politician.

May his soul rest in peace, as well as all the souls of our martyrs.

  • 13. Ramy Kozaily | October 6th, 2006 at 7:51 pm

Any ways ranouna or whatever that mess or service was for the LF not for ex aounist Like jobran or others it was for the LF so i see no point of mentioning the martyr jobran tueni in the LF mess since u said he is not an LF ……..
    thanks

What was Gibran sacrificing at his death?! What was he surrendering as a penalty for a mistake or fault? IT seems that his path toward independence and freedom was so costly and expensive to achieve!. Whatever, he reached the highest grade of immortality because of the honorable and because of being the veracious witness of current situations, he was forcibly the bravest man among his cooperative unit, he obviously was invulnerable to fear or intimidation suggested by the Syrian ill system who was always qualified by barbarity and homicide. But across all these circumstances, other bad trends were led to decrease the significance of his struggles which were classifiying him from each side as belonging exclusively to a specific party without another, i.e. judgements of Shadow and Irange were unjustified and pointless and other many and many of people who orient around gibran’s OBSEQUIES to add their party logos, and in my opinion, these trends have led to a big decrease in Gibran’s value as a patriotic , intrepid, and IMPERISHABLE Soul.

Mr Gibran Tueni has taught me so much and before he died and after, he will never be forgotten.
I use to always wait to watch arabic satelite with my father; Gibran spoke words of truth every night him and his uncle were on debate shows. He stood for freedom of speech that all journalists in lebanon should stand for. I was asked on my university application who are my favourite journalists before Gibran was killed and ofcourse i put Jibran he was so strong he lost so much family members but still nothing stopped him and even if they kill more like him our beliefs wont change, because a 100 more will be born just like him. Jibran was a true patriot, I will miss him and everyone who has lost there lives to make our country a better place. May they all rest in peace and there legacy never to die or fade we should carry on what they werent able to finish they done this for all of us and for the generations to come, true patriots. May the killers all be punished and burn in hell where they deserve to be.
    LONG LIVE LEBANON.

I must say that now that it is near of the 1th. aniversary of the greats human been and journalyst Gebran Twenni I feel sad I did like him a lot and still do It was a very sad day for me when I listen the news that day,but life is like this when humans do not like others specially if they don’t know who is God and why he decided to creat us, they will allways destroyed the good or god people this is the power of Satan. I hope this country what it is not my, but I have seen across the last 10 years how changed and growed get some peace one time, I hope christians and muslims, get together again like in all times, people must understand today that whom believes in God is free to follow any way of religion this is freedom of the human been and nobody has right to say why you believe in this and not in that. God created the human free to decided……..
I hope Gebran it will be a picture for young people muslims and christian because his mother was a muslim and his father is a Catholic, and this has nothing to do in the way that we can live together it is enough that there is so much FITNAh, corruption, and poverty and a lof off racisme between you lebanease I hope it will change for your god and freedom and democracy.

from some who likes Gebran Twenni and Rafic Hariri
