The remembrance of the 1915 Armenian Genocide was commemorated few days ago by the Armenians in Lebanon. 8 years are still left for the Armenians people to get Turkey to approve this massacre or else they will lose their right to do so.

However, this topic is not about the genocide, but the Armenians’ integration in Lebanon.
When the genocide occured, thousands of Armenians fled to Lebanon and have been growing in numbers since then, however the political parties that were founded never managed into integrating the Lebanese society, and kept distinguishing themselves as Armenians first then Lebanese.
During the war, Armenians political parties supported the Anti-Syrian forces yet refused to fight with them, and later on, it turned out that they were kidnapping soldiers and exchanging them with the Pro-Syrians and vice versa.
During the Syrian hegemony, Tashnaq the biggest Armenian party was a Syrian ally.
After the Cedars Revolution and during the elections, Tashnaq stood with Aoun.
This thinking applied by the political Armenian parties, of basically supporting whomever is in power is harming the Armenian people more than doing them good. It is essential that they integrate the society and consider Lebanon as their FIRST country.

Something I have never understood was how Lebanon accepts so many refugees from anywhere and everywhere. This is something that not only does not help the stability, but can potentially harm it. There is not a single country in the rest of the world that has political parties for their immigrants.
If these “Armenians in Lebanon” want to stay in Lebanon, they must all become Lebanese.
My personal opinion..they should not have the right to a political party. There is NO reason for that. If they consider themselves as Armenians, we should consider them as foreigners. Lebanese politics should be reserved for who? Every Lebanese should have the same answer, and that’s Lebanese.

Something doesnt really add up here….
1: I always thought that your father had to be lebanese in order for you to be a lebanese citizen?
If so, how can these people be lebanese?
2: If they are lebanese then why cant the palestinian refugees in lebanon also all be given citizenship? They have only been in lebanon 36 years less than the Armenians…….. shit, most of them were born in lebanon.
Seems to be bigtime double standards to me…..

1st. It’s very important to know that the Armenians are more lebanese than lebanese people.
2nd. The armenians are different than palestinian refugees; The armenians built LEBANON, but the palestinians destroyed this country. That’s the different between armenians and palestinians.

if they are Armenians, then get the passports and go back home.
If they are Lebanese, then live with it, start learning Arabic and stop acting like you are the only victims in modern history .
Support Lebanon and not Syria, We had 400 years of oppression from the Turks and we never ran away from our country.
This lesson should be learned by Palestinians and Armenians, If you run away, no one will bring your country to you.
Start pretending to be Lebanese and for God’s sake, LEARN ARABIC.

Im rather disapointed with u writing about us in this fashion N10452, after so many posts that I have always read and approved.
Do you have any idea how much the Armenian community (WHICH ARE LEBANESE), has helped and sustained the Lebanese economy? particularly in the industrial sector?
Do you know we represent profound Christianity deep within our culture and ourserlves?
DO U KNOW THERE ARE SOME ARMENIAN MARTYRS IN THE KATAEB??
I am Armenian and an LFer.
I am Lebanese and I love the Lebanese Cedar.
I love Achrafieh, Harissa, and all of my country.

Guys ,
Whats happening!!!!!!!!!
First of All , there are many armeniens who are LFers and they support LF more then us and I have an armenian freind who puts LF Cross on his mobile and went to Hakim when he went out from Jail with his brother and family to Arez with a group from Burj Hamoud .
second , We forgot that we have Armeniens martyrs that they put their blood defending LF and Lebanon .
If anyone has a critique against Armenian , it will be his personal opinion and Lebanese Forces has nothing to do with it unless it is put on its Official Website:
http://www.lebanese-forces.com/.

I am Armenian in my soul and Lebanese in my heart.I luv Lebanon very much. And why always(lf-ers)when someone says that Armenians are bad you(lf-ers) say that there were a lot of Armenian lf fighters or kataeb fighters and bull shit like that.??
By the way fad14(Mr.knowledge) you sound very educated.Do u know that after the Turks gave independance to the Greeks they realized that the chrsitians in the region are a threat to the ottoman empire, and Turks wanted to occupy all the lands in the caucasus to expand their borders to India .They wanted to united the turkic peoples. That’s why they found the Armenians a big obstacle and they massacred them, they tortured Armenians by millions. It wasn’t the same case in Lebanon, here people didn’t even resist the Ottoman empire unlike the Armenians.
And laroush_Z plz keep ur mouth clean cuz it stinks.
And any Armenian who is a LF supporter he or she is not Armenian. That’s the bottomline .
You say Tashnak are more “racist” than Henchak??!!!
Oww you make me laugh so bad that I’ll have a heart attack!!!lol..LoL//
Can u define what’s “racist”??!!
Anyways LF-ers represent just 20-25% of chrsitians and you won’t decide wether we’ll stay in Lebanon or not.

Question: Why can’t Lebanon be a Republic for all of its citizens? Why is it that Lebanese are always first, marouni, wulla sunni, wulla shia etc. etc.? Ana bia3taqd inno al-bashr armani bashr azim iktir. But at the same time, why can’t the Palestinians born in Lubnan be given citizenship? The Israelis gave citizenship to Jews regardless of their origin.
If the Lebanese Christians are concerned about the ethnic/religious balance, then the government should make it easier for Lebanese descendants (there are millions all over the Americas) to become citizens. God bless Lubnan!

28. Krazy | July 26th, 2007 at 9:13 pm
First of all, I was very shocked to read some of the replies and know that we (Armenians) are hated so much by fellow Christians in Lebanon.
I consider myself Lebanese Armenian and I’ve lived here all of my life and I have the Lebanese identity which means I’m just equal to any other Lebanese.
As you learn in history at school (12th grade), Lebanese were leaving the region when Armenians came here and most probably that’s the reason we were offered to be Lebanese. This means it was your decision at that time.
Most of the time I’m seeing your attacks towards the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Tashnag). It’s not important to attack whoever doesn’t agree with you politically, just get this! We would have been your allies if Mr. Saad Hariri didn’t want to have total control on us which we refused and we all know that a political party alone can not reach a position in Lebanon and that’s why we had to ally with Aoun whose supporters are contributing with us and protecting our rights (I’ve heard FPMers talking in favor of Armenians many times in the university while there were no Armenian around) while when I write something about Armenian in a Future Movement forum, I get attacked from all the sides and they start protecting Turkey.
For the person who talked about Tashnag protesting in Lebanon against Turks. Remember, when Erdogan came to meet Sanioura, Henchag and Ramgavar united with Tashnag protested. But as we all know, Sanioura doesn’t listen to his allies (Henchag and Ramgavar).
By the way, I also know Henchag leaders (check the word Leaders once again) who support Aoun. So there’s nothing in it, everybody is free to support whoever (s)he wants.
About being racist. I’m not racist but I’m an extremist just like the Maronites, Shiites, Sunnites and the Durzis … I respect the other religion /race but I’m stuck to mine!
Some examples about racism, most of the LFers that I know talk against Muslims (check political forums and you’ll know what I mean).
About the Lebanese civil war and the era that I don’t like to talk about cause I don’t want to it to happen again. But you made me say some words about it. A guy mentioned that we didn’t participate in the war and this means we are not Lebanese. Man, whoever participated in the war ruined the country! (open your eyes) and by not participating we just didn’t want to ruin a country which accepted us in the past. But when we were attacked by both sides, we had to use weapons to protect our regions.
Just note that my cousins are Arabs and they support LF and their father (arab) was a LF soldier and I have never heard them attacking Tashnag or any other Armenian. (that’s why you really disappointed me with this article and replies).

30. MALO | August 8th, 2007 at 5:17 pm
It is funny how the armenians require that all of us maronites or other oriental christians sympathise with their suffering (while we have suffered the same massacres from the same perpetrators), and they refuse for us the right to even question them on them sympathising with our continuous sufferings and struggles which are also supposed to be there’s as Lebanese in “full right”.
I have no embarrassement, no guilt feeling, and no hesitation in mentionning outloud that the majority of the Armenian people in Lebanon are worth nothing, just like their votes, in the Lebanese political scenery.
If the genocide of other Lebanese christians (their direct neighbours in some instances) doesn’t shake them, if the suffering of their fellow Lebanese citizens doesn’t make them move an inch, if the assassination of Pierre Gemayel doesn’t weigh for anything in their political stance, then the hell with them, the hell with their cause and the hell with the 80% bastards that follow the tashnag blindly in every election.
If these people are oppressed then we, as their Lebanese co-patriotes, have the duty to liberate them from their opressors. Not helping them deal with their problems is the exact racist stance, the confessional stance…
Addressing the opression of the Armenians in Lebanon is a national duty on every Lebanese that considers that this people is an integral part of Lebanon. Not addressing this issue, and “not interfering in Armenian affairs” is the exact racist, discreminating and confessional stance that all of us should refuse to adopt. This problem cannot drag any longer as it is growing in time, and one day it will blow up in all of our faces, just like it was close to do last Sunday.
