“Political sectarianism is blocking the development of the Lebanese political regime and standing as an obstacle in the face of a democracy where the majority rules and the minority opposes,” stressed Nasrallah and added that abolishing political sectarianism is a “basic condition” for the implementation of the majority-minority rule.

When reading this quote, Hezbollah is the last party that comes in mind, yet this quote is one of many in Hassan Nasrallah’s speech yesterday, where he announced the party’s new manifesto.

So what’s new about this manifesto ? Absolutely nothing, except more hypocrisy, lies and a failed attempt to tone down the Islamic Rethoric.

Only a fool, or someone following blindly Michel Aoun, would believe for a second that the party of GOD, the Islamic resistance (previously revolution) in Lebanon wants to abolish political sectarianism and work for a secular united Lebanon.

Nonetheless, this is not the first time we hear about abolishing political sectarianism and definitly not the last from the Shiite leaders. Nabih Berri never misses an opportunity without bringing it up, and Hezbollah has been hinting at it for a while now.

The reasons are plently behind those demands and can be resumed as follows:
- Shiite parties have always relied on demographics and the capacity to increase their influence by increasing their numbers.
- The divisions within the Christian community are ideal for such demands, as it will make HA’s mission to take over the country politically much easier.
- Hezbollah fears federalism and division as both scenarios will isolate further the Shiite community.

Christians must be very aware of the consequences of such demands and stand up to Hezbollah and point out his true intentions. The terrorist party is playing a very smart ideological game and knows time is on his side.

As for the rest of the points in the manifesto, it is the same old speech we hear at every occasion.

- Recognizing the role of the Lebanese army and praising Lebanon’s sovereignty, knowing that Hezbollah killed an army officer not long time ago and invaded Beirut and undermined the army’s presence not so long time ago as well.

- Demanding a consistent fight of corruption and more competence in the government organizations, while they have their own mini-republic and never bother paying taxes or bill.

- And of course the “Death to America, Death to Israel” slogans to fuel the large crowds.

The problem with the Terrorist entity’s chief’s thinking is so glaring that it blinds people (like the orangettes)…GUNS….
I would be all for changing the whole system and make the country democratic! I am all for castrating the warlords and let the people breathe..
However, Hassan the mafioso don; forgets that when his sect is armed to its teeth while others inteimidated daily; he DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO TALK ABOUT ABOLISHING THE POLITICAL SECTARIANISM!!
In a very canniving way he has told all Lebanese non shiites to kindly F*U*C*K off…

As he seems to continue to allude that his guns will never be given up (ven if hell freezes over); based on his scenarios; he is telling the rest that EITHER you agree with what I say (no majority rule) or you are terrorized by Saif el Ali daily…

    Take your poison brother…

It is the most dangerous manifesto I have ever heard! It wants to make of Lebanon the spur, the symbol and the leader of all future wars…may I ask and beg you: against whom?

Not one word about security, about stability, which can lead to better economy in a country where more than 1/3 of the people are jobless…

The strategy of more destructions is to further empty the country of all its well educated people who are fed up with hate and violence…

There can’t be abolition of sectarianism in Lebanon because Syria will be the first to oppose it. This is a tactic that HA and Amal are using to pressure the sunnis and M14 in particular, knowing all too well, that the demographic numbers are in their favor in the long run. Jumblatt has accepted this reality and is making peace with them, Hariri is slowly coming to realize this and in fact he is starting the turnaround as well as Saudi is pushing him toward a compromise with Syria…the only ones sitting on the fence are M14 Christians and they are rejecting doing away with sectarianism because it isn’t in christians interests following Bkerki’s lead.

Democracy is rarely correct, but alway fair. In a democracy, the majority get what the majority want, and the minority have to suck it up. It is laughable that we the third group in terms of numbers (debatable) have the presidency. It is inevitable that we eventually lose that, it is only natural for the true numerical majority to eventually claim what is theirs. I also have to laugh when people say that HA confiscated the war/peace decision, if we had a fair democratic system no one would even care what we have to say as christians. HA and allies are actually doing us a favor by entertaining our needs and wants, as we are by all means a minority as christians in Lebanons, and only 50% at it too, as our other 50% support them. Ra’fat,

    1) – Go and convince Assad of Syria to give power to the sunnites…(the Alaouites represent 9% of the population).

    2) – please go and read the History of Lebanon….

    3) – HA is destroying Lebanon till there is no economy alive, and you want to give them “total” power??? poor you!!!! (m3attar)!!!!

  • 8. THERESINIA | December 1st, 2009 at 5:52 pm

By the way go and convince the Caporal to desist from the Presidential ARMCHAIR!!!

  • 9. THERESINIA | December 1st, 2009 at 6:01 pm

What is HA doing other than destroying the country and making educated people emigrate????

By provoking wars and creating destructions many christians are disgusted and lose hope…thus reducing their number….

This strategy is working and then they claim majority!!!

Bull shit my friends…a Lebanese is still a lebanese even when he is abroad, and he sis not forfeited from his rights…there are about 8 million lebanese oustside Lebanon!!!

IT IS OBLIGATORY TO TAKE THEM INTO CONSIDERATION.

  • 10. THERESINIA | December 1st, 2009 at 6:04 pm

Before leaving France, the Caporal promised every Lebanese abroad that they will vote in the elections of 2009….

Then he learned that most Christians abroad have changed and became AGAINST him. It is for this reason that he SABOTAGED the right of Lebanese diaspora from voting.

Evil man, liar, corrupted and KHADIM!!!!

Regardless of what you or me think, it is their country as HA is Lebanese whether we like it or not. Actually Lebanon will eventually become as HA wishes it to be, that I believe can’t be stopped if matters continue as they are. Lebanon, is the only country in the region where those who have all the guns are not ruling, which tells you this situation will not remain for long. As emotional as you may be, this is reality, time moves only forward, and the Lebanon in our dreams will remain as such. Lebanon will change and will eventualy take the image and culture of its majority. What happened to Iran will eventually be repeated in Lebanon, not through a revolution, but through the sheer numbers of HA it will become a natural transition.

Again and I repeat, all this has nothing to do with what you and I think HA is doing or going to do to Lebanon or with who is a traitor and who will burn the country etc… All these are view points and opinions, where the facts show HA gets what HA wants.

But Rafat what about the Lebanese abroad? Will they admit that there country will become hezboland or will they remember because of why they left??Or have they already given up hope?

  • 13. Maximus | December 1st, 2009 at 11:35 pm

    Ra’fat
Yes what you and i think count. Start be refusing to surrender. Nothing in politics is a fatality. We could have said the same think about Palestinians and the Syrians. HA project and survival is linked to the islamic regime in Iran and as every radical regime, the iranian regime will fall one day or another and HA will follow. Nasrallah is not the first mhalwas who tried to dominate us. He will pass and we will stay.

  • 14. Ra'fat | December 1st, 2009 at 11:46 pm

Those who left, like myself, left for a reason. We left to have a better life, and with life in Lebanon getting worse and worse, I have no reason to go back. I refuse to go back and have not touched Lebanese soil since I left about 9 years ago. No country is perfect, but my experience abroad has shown me that Lebanon is not a country, it is a dumpster full of garbage and idealistic flowers that wither among the garbage and try but can’t change anything. With all that said, the garbage is growing and will continue to increase, and as that is my opinion it is such my choice to remain where I am.

  • 15. Darwish | December 1st, 2009 at 11:54 pm

the sayyed said basically that he wants a state where the majority rules, in fact, he is repeating what M14 leaders have been saying since 2005. If electoral votes were not based on sectarian participation but rather on a popular vote, the shiite with their sheer numbers would have that majority in the long run, if you include the diaspora then it would probably not make that much difference either as the numbers are evenly split abroad. However, it is also true that based on a popular system, HA would have to rule and would have to expose itself politically which would weaken it because it does not have the legitimacy in international circles and the country would be isolated bringing about an economic and financial crisis not to mention the threat of conflict and war. All of this talk is just a political strategy to pressure the sunnis mainly and the M14 christians into accepting HA’s legitimacy and role as the so called resistance, i,e the right to keep its aramada….How many times do they need to wield their “stick” before everyone gets it?

  • 16. danny | December 2nd, 2009 at 12:39 am

    Darwish,

Your analysis is very faulty!! You are ignoring the issue of the weapons!! The huge elephant in the room!!
Take away the guns and fix the system and give the people ESPECIALLY the shiites the FREEDOM to chose; then we’ll see how many days can HA hold its “FAN” base!!

  • 17. THERESINIA | December 2nd, 2009 at 1:25 am

Anyon who is working against the stability and the security of Lebanon is destroying the country. FULL STOP!

  • 18. Mike | December 2nd, 2009 at 9:24 am

Looks like you’re working at it full throttle ya Theresina.

Try finding things that Lebanese have in common.

  • 19. Maximus | December 2nd, 2009 at 1:09 pm

قانصوه: “هل الوزراء الأربعة الذين يريدون أن يتحفظوا يمثلون الموارنة؟، وهل يريدون شد المسيحيين مثل الخراف إلى النحر مثلما فعلوا في العام 1975؟”
    Isn’t that pure terrorism?
You walk as we order you otherwise we will genocide you…
not only he recognize that maronites had been massacred in 1975 but he is ready to do it again!

    Mike,

You are right! Lebanese have in common Tabouleh and Homos…

But what about the “common good”?

What about “common respect”? (if I want to live in peace and some group who obeys to the outside imposes BY FORCE his strategy of destruction…is this RESPECT ???)

    What about “common History books”???
    What about “common education”???
What about “common vision of a future beautiful Lebanon”???

There is not even the “smallest COMMON denominator”!!!

  • 22. THERESINIA | December 2nd, 2009 at 6:21 pm

    Mike,

Oh! yes we have in “Common” that we do not want to destroy each other by force…(which was the old strategy…).

…The new strategy is making the educated people (like yourself) lose hope and quit this country for good…so they can achieve their truly HIDDEN objective!!!!

  • 23. Mike | December 3rd, 2009 at 7:07 am

All countries are or were facing these kind of similar dilemmas and have been throughout history.

We are in the progressive stage.

    Work on the common realities.
