What is this all about declaring the 14th of February a mourning day ?

I totally support the strategic alliance that was born after the 14th of march, even though i ask that it be an equal one, i totally support allying ourselves to Hariri and Jumblatt after they learned the hard way that the real ennemy is Syria.

Hariri’s assasination caused a major drift in Lebanon’s history, and changed a whole community’s thinking …

BUT why declare his assasination a mourning day ? why not declare a mourning day for all the martyrs on 14th of March for example ??

There is a president who was killed back on the 14th of september 1982, a president named Bashir Gemayel, a dream for the majority of the Lebanese, why dont we mourn on his assasination day ?

I am not posting this to ask for a mourning day for Bashir, or Gebran or Pierre or any of the martyrs … i am honestly against treating a martyr better than another, specially the political martyrs who died for only speaking freely and standing up to Lebanon’s ennemies.

Now should we go down on the 14th ?

I will go down, because we cannot afford a failure on this day, because even though i have my disagreements with the current alliance and government, we have a real threat called Hezbollah that wants to take over the country and i will not give him any opportunity to do so.

I am sure you will hear FPmers or Hezbollah responsibles talking the same way i did about this mourning day, but they are only doing to cause divisions within our ranks ..

May you rest in peace Pr.Hariri and may all our martyrs rest in peace as well.

See you on the 14th.

    Hey N!
Great post, I actually am of the same opinion, and I was totally willing to participate on the 14th, if it weren’t for the calculus 3 final I have on thursday!
However, I urge every free Lebanese, every follower of any party of the 14th of March Coalition, and every person who believes in the cause all of our late leaders died for, to head down to freedom square, and participate democratically on this special day.

It was unncessary and I think they did it just to provoke the other side

    I totally agree.
Why make the 14th of Feb a remembrance date & not the 14th of march; which was a historical day 4 Lebanon?
Hoping that next year the 14th of march would b a national holiday &not the 14th of feb.

  • 8. Shadow | February 11th, 2007 at 10:37 am

You right, but all of us we will be there on 14 th Feb.

  • 9. Irange | February 11th, 2007 at 11:07 am

Don Calculus 3? where will you apply it at Iran?
Urge yourself, your friends and go to the Freedom square.

3id el moukawameh was and isnt now, nothing is stable in Leb, boukra our airport (halla2 Rafik el Harriri, boukra maybe yssir another name..) same for many roads & streets..

As for the national holiday 14 Feb, let us hope that next year 8 march, or 1 Dec, or… will be national holidays…

As for Ziad, u r totally right… ta3assob will not lead to anywhere for the simple reason that comes from the meaning of this word ta3assob = u dont see and how someone who dont see can reach the place he wants and especially if this place is outside his traditional area.

hope i didn’t bother you with my Lectures:)

    See you in the square

Well, the reality is that Christians in Lebanon are considered as second class citizens now..whether u liked it or not…It wasnt the exile of GMA or the Prison of SJ that hurted the Christians since 1990 but the policies of all the governments since that day and still continues till today. FPM mainly and LF are considered to be the among the vast majority of the Christians . If considering having 1 minister for LF and none for FPM is good for the Christians…fa congrats on ur government…

The person who put us in debt, came n a Syrian tank, bought land for Saudi Muslims, Opened his first governmental meeting with Bismillah al rahman al rahim, …. the one that all of you used to say “3am bi aslim al ‘arid” has a mourning day. Yet Bachir Gemayel, the founder of the Lebanese Forces barely get a mass. W fakhourin bi your alliance ….

We got to be united unless you want Hizb-Iran or the Syrian to rule us again and this time FOREVER! Stop creating tension between the March 14 group.

Every able person should go to the Martyre Square to show that WE are the majority and WE want a free, independent sovereign Lebanon!

    well said venom!

  • 19. Shadow | February 14th, 2007 at 10:27 am

    Arze ,

Your right about Bachir but Michel Aoun is totally the opposite of Bachir .All you said about Bachir you have to reverse for your General ,We are going down on 14 the february moush nkeyeh bi hadan nehna manefaker metelkon bel nkeyet w bi teskir ter2at w bi hare2 dwelib .
We are going down because 14 march khalet soureh yenseheb men lebnan . moush 8 march li 2alou fi shokran syria, shokran syria assad W nehna kelna oussoud bi lebnan lal assad.

    Venom and Mir,

You know very well that hakim was still in prison at that time and after he traveled with his wife to Europe . Ok fine we got 1 minister as that time Lebanese Forces was not organized and Hakim has a lot of things to do in order to understand what happened exactly while he was in prison but definitely in the next governement Lebanese Forces will be represented more in accordance to its popularity among christian community . Regarding General you know very well that he refused to enter the government and saad hariri has sit with many times and recently they offered him 4 ministers but u know his mentality he fights with everyone and u know esset ana aw mahadan w ana mazbout w kel 3alam ghalat . regarding what happened after 1990 you were right but everyone agrees that there was no tension among christians like today . Today all our leaders are present whats happening inside christian community ? wlek ya jame3a we reach a point that all these people and leaders who died after hariri death meant NOTHING to TAYYAR meant nothing kelna shefna 3al TV tayyar ma3 hizb allah kenou 3am bi2oulou na3iman ye Gebran li ken akbar halif lal General bel 89 . Pierre Gemayel died and Tayyar prepared himself to take his place in metn what happening?
What christians we are talking about ? Christians that they attack our Patriarch and they swear about him and their General is happy
beleive me Venom if on next day u said that general did a small mistake not big just small , you will come to know what im saying now . He s deonst do a mistake all people are bad except him and tayyar. mebrha 3emlou 1559 youm dedou mberha kenou badon y2ashtou sleh hizb allah li2anou 3amil soureh youm la2 mberha ouwet kenou asshab adiyeh youm militia .

They beleive in themselves and im expecting everything from them li mabyehterem batrak ye3neh btetwa2a3 mayehterem hadan w 3an jad li stahou metou .

Welcome to new christianity in Lebanon.

President LAHOUD , may I say that certainly whatever we may think of his policy ,it is that every Lebanese can be proud of the fact that he is a man who has always upheld a representative democracy in this country, in his great and smooth move out of power in a way which certainly could not be surpassed by any man in this country at this time and circumstances ( not like the haughty saniora ).having not spoken of the circumstances which lead to his decision we feel no sullenness towards those who opposed him .

As it is often put that a record is not something to stand on but something to build on. That is the way that we in al tayar approach our problems .
Here we think we in al tayyar we have a good record. We have a record that goes back 15 years. During these years we find that Lebanon got out of one war. Thinking that he was kept out of other possible conflicts, and he has peace today. But in looking to the future, and building on this record i realize that the problems that we confront are terribly difficult.

I believe we are in active pursuit of these goals. and i am sure no one may say that we did not own up to our constitutional responsibility in a careful, respectful, and insightful way .
    S.ASWAD
