As reported on the Beirut Spring & Naharnet, Mr. Saad Hariri “suspended” the Future Movement’s contribution in the cabinet Line-up talks. The move was in protest against security breaches by opposition armed gangs in the FM power base of Tarik el Jdideh. Mr. Hariri demanded that the security section of the Qatar agreement be honored before any further talks can take place.

What should Hariri do ??

The Future movement is nowadays facing its biggest crisis, and Hariri does not have much options to be honest. His stronghold was invaded by HA militiamen, and even though HA gave the army full control, harrassments against FM leaders & responsibles have been increasing on a daily basis …

Hariri is a billionaire but never had in mind to finance and build a militia like many presumed he was doing. Similarly, the harrasments against his supporters cannot remain unanswered, and he cannot bare let his supporters act on their own, for it will damage his image and the FM image.

He can no longer depend on Islamic groups after Nahr el Bared battle where he lost their support.
He chose to react politically but i dont think its enough !

If Hariri wants to counter Hezbollah and regain his supporters’ trust and most improtantly keep controlling them, Hariri must start organizing a hidden militia, a very well organized one that will make sure HA is taught a lesson whenever he considers going in, and in the same time not show to the public anything related to it. (similar to PSP’s “invisible” milita).

Of course forming this militia will require regaining the trust of the islamic groups but in a careful way that keeps a certain control from Hariri on those groups. This will create a balance of terror.

Another option would be to meet Hezbollah and get back to how Rafic Hariri & Nasrallah were, but that will violate the essence of M14 principles.

Elections are few months away and Hariri risks to lose his uncontested leadership if he does not secure his regions and reassure his people.

    Here’s an idea!

HOW ABOUT WE DARE OUR BRAVE ARMY TO DO ITS FREAKING JOB!!!

Those Hezbollah thugs have been harrasssing people right across the street from army checkpoints.

They’re just letting them do whatever they want!
They’re kidnapping, torturing, killing, interrogating…whoever they want.
They’ve stopped LBC reporters twice already!

If there are officers in Beirut that are sympathetic to Hezbollah, than transfer them to another regoin.

I’m sure the army can find at least one army officer that’s loyal to Hariri and put him in charge of Tari2 jdide.

  • 4. Anaconda | June 9th, 2008 at 12:37 am

what army is this? because near my house their is an army sakana, they shot on buildings and the army was watching, what a brave army we have, lol. And Bachir man, come on I am sunni and never believed in HA and his so called propaganda that he is against isreal, and he won in 2006, we got eyes, we got brains, but you are saying what saed is saying on tv, you should be sure that beiruti’s and sunnis dont agree totally on what he says!!! afterall you can come down and see, many sunni’s these days are loyal to leb forces, wether you believe it or not, the lebanese forces is getting stronger in the sunni part of lebanon, due to its wise leader, he said things during the clahses that sunnis wanted to say, he said during dawha what we wanted to say, if you go now in our streets you will find that dr.geagea has many followers these days that are sunni, and some are thinking of joining the lebanese forces.

  • 5. Tarek | June 9th, 2008 at 12:45 am

He should have built a militia long time ago. He could have financed it from thousands of sources and made it a “Resistance” since the sunnis also want to “fight” israel. However he is too stupid to do it. All could be in public, since HA is arming and training in public … it would have been a heck of an army … he is a looser for not doing so …

I agree that Future Movement should create an invisible miltia “to fight Israel”! It is the only option!!! Otherwise, Hariri is history.

    N,
All what you are trying to say in this article of yours that Hariri had a hand in Sunni Islamic extremest movements a la Fateh el Islam. My answer is that you are either an ignorant in Lebanese politics or you are moving slowly but surely into the Aziz propaganda machine.

  • 11. March 8 sucks | June 9th, 2008 at 7:06 am

It’s too late for starting a militia and it is not a good option anyway. The only way to counter HA is for March 14 to win 2/3 of the parliament seats at best, or keep a majority at the very least in the 2009 elections. As comment #2 suggested, the Christian vote in 2009 will be the deciding factor. Aoun gave HA a Christian cover even though most FPM supporters are against HA keeping its weapons. It is those supporters who we want to bring our way. We should start preparing for elections from now because it will be VERY critical for Lebanon’s future.

N ,i just put these 3 statements from what u said to let our readers comment on your contradictions and evaluate how clever you are.
1: r u telling us that Shaker al absi and abou horeira who killed the lebanese army were the hidden soldiers of HARIRI? man u r the copy of wi2am wahhab in this.
2: Do u want Hariri to organise a militia without letting the people know anything about it, do u think we need another Bin laden or a new Carlos?
3:u said also that that he must secure his regions ,will this militia protect only Beirut?what about the sunni of Bekaa and 3akkar? and u think if he organized his militia and protected his regions he will win the elections or else SALIM HUSS WILL STRIKE BACK? MAN U R REALLY VERY STUPID.
in an early post you said that the bad statements told by ZAHRA to the tashnag will make LF lose the elections next year, if this is true, then Hariri must win the elections next year after all what HA did in invading Beirut and the Jabal.
4: why u did not mention anything about the army? for my opinion Hariri must work and collaborate well with President Sleiman and the new army leader, this is more legitimate and like this he will gain the trust of his supporters not only in his regions but in all lebanon, not like u proposed that his other option is to go to the dialogue with HA but like this he will lose all his credibility.
I think RAMBO is supporting you too much, 2oo3a tif2a3.

N? Walaw? Any political body that hints it has a militia today is considered a terrorist? If Hariri accumulated two guns, every Lebanese, especially Shiites and most Christians will repell the Future Movement, and would need Billions in dollars in PR to regin its image of building Beyrouth.

Your thinking would be the guaranteed destruction of the Future Movement. Andwhy would the ‘future’ movement have ‘historic’ vengeances that proved to be futile.

  • 14. Patrick | June 9th, 2008 at 2:45 pm

Hariri doesn’t need to–and more than that, he should NOT–organize a militia.

But after Hezbollah and Amal took over Mustaqbal offices, Future TV and al-Sharq radio–with assault rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, etc.–then it should be Hariri’s right to train a well-organized, well-disciplined private security firm. And if he asks them to secure Tariq al-Jedideh or other Sunni neighborhoods in the event of a takeover, or when their security is threatened like in the last few days, that’s his business. It should not be hidden at all. They should not have rocket-propelled grenades or wear masks or shout jihadist slogans or anything. They should include in-uniform as well as out-of-uniform, professional, disciplined security personnel.

There is a HUGE difference between a private jihadist militia and a private security firm. He should be allowed to have the latter.

    Tarek,

Ya ami…you want 4 armies in lebanon? The leb army, hizbzballah, FM army and the army of stupid lebanese.

    It would be a catastrophy.

  • 16. Arze | June 9th, 2008 at 5:20 pm

I cant believe N you are suggesting something like that ….

Do you at least know what is really happening in beirut ?Do you have friends to tell you how its starting and why its happening ?Have you made a recent poll about the Sunnas and the Druze caught by hezbollah during the last event ? They support HA more then ever now….for the way the were treated….

Lets do a government and live in peace ! HA is a millitia but at least it never killed 200 Lebanese soldiers and burned to ground the region of the north on the opposit of Fateh el islam

wou want another sunni Militia ? who the hell do u think will fight in the sunna ? Men from Verdin? or from LAU or AUB? The sunna in beirut are educated and wealthy , they aint gonnna risk what they have for a guy named hariri and face an army that has been in actual battle facing the biggest army in the world and existing for dozens of years !

IM gonna tell you who can hariri recruit ! People from the North , pooor , illeterated , Fanatics for this one and only reason where they will fight against shiaa ! and you will make another Fateh al islam ! and we the Christian will be next when hariri will loose control again ..

Wake up man ! the funniest part is that when the events of fateh el islam was happening , you guys were posting things such as the syrians behind them (although most of them are saoudis ) and u used to call us Syrians when we said hariri behind it ! at least in that post u aknowledge that Hariri and achraf el rifi was behind that mess up !

LEt them do the goverment as per the Doha agreement ! and let us live ba2a ! keep hezbollah fighting in the south and we dancing in beirut ! the day Chebaa is back well discuss the whole thing as per the agreement !
enough uncontrolled , discusting , fanatic , militias ! the one reason i respect hezbollah is because of the fear of Sunnis militia ! because only HA can face them and the palestinians !

    Arze = Anze

  • 18. lebnani | June 9th, 2008 at 6:27 pm

i don’t know which post is worse: yours N or arze’s post. We don’t need no militias anymore and that includes hezbollah. God doesn’t a hezb. We need a stable country with stable bases which includes a strong governmnent and a strong army. If u keep some people armed in the country you are undermining the army. Only the army and the armed security forces can carry guns and only they can defend the country. No one else.

  • 19. jad | June 9th, 2008 at 8:03 pm

the funny thing is that ha are just doing what ever the fuck they want and the army is sitting there watching a show come on they distoryed houses cars they even went in homes just to remove pictures of their opposits and well now they say of course we wont use weapon as a force to win us the election ( who the fuck believes tht) we hav show ha tht no 1 is above the law and if we cnt do let lets us ask for help coz we cnt live like this and hopefully nw tht we have a president life in lebanon will get better and personnel wish to kik ha out and let them fight israell far from here( if tht really is their main goal!!)

    Guys,
What i suggested is the only pragmatic approach the future movement can take to keep its political work unless it wants to bow to the Syrian once again …

I do not like that option, i am saying what are their realistic alternatives ( unfortunatelly) …

I am against the militias .. i believe you guys should know that by now .. bass thats the sad reality after the Beirut invasion .. its a different context and sadly you can no longer fight HA politically ..

  • 22. N10452 | June 9th, 2008 at 8:56 pm

Concerning the other comments, i will develop them longly and in details in my next post …

Because the least i can say is that the ignorance is staggering in many comments ..
