Welcome to Baalbeck !
Posted by N10452What does one expect to see when he goes to visit Baalbeck ?
- Restaurants & Souvenir shops.
- Ads for the upcoming festivals
- Clean & Organized streets leading to the temple
- Lebanese Army & Lebanese Police for security.

But instead, all you get is Hezbollah police following you wherever you go, Hezbollah flag & posters all over the place, Hezbollah Souvenir shops, and last but not least, a Hezbollah stand inside the Temple praising the “resistance” and its martyrs.
You will not informed about Baachus or Baal or the history of that majestic temple, but rather on how terrorist Moghnieh (May he rest in pieces) was banging his last mistress when his car exploded, or on how many children and women he managed to kill during his terrorist life, or even more on the heroic destruction of Lebanon Hezbollah caused by starting a war back in 2006.
Welcome to Baalbeck .. welcome to the “resistance” culture .. welcome to Lebanon’s decadence in morals & culture ..

Go to the Cedars, and you’ll see Ahla bi rab rabbak posters everywhere….might aswell change the flag and put geagea’s face instead of the cedar tree….
5. Charles | August 8th, 2009 at 11:08 am
alex we’ve all been to the cedars we know what its like there.. but you dont see the entrance covered up with ouwet flags, or anything of that sort.. passing through his own village loved by his own people, ur bound to see political slogans everywhere… but just look at these! and the ahla bi rab rabbak poster ur talking about near the restaurant has been there for years, wouldve been there no matter where the guy went.. but this at baalback is new, and what a coincidence done in the middle of summer when tourism is booming, and apparently this is an intentional act for some reason or the other.

8. ja3far | August 8th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
few points on the subject
1- u can keep calling the others as terrorists and they can keep calling u as criminals .. this is not the way to build a country and the cycle that will never end…
2- u have to respect the others if u expect the others to respect u. the dead people are with god now; he will decide who will rest in peace and who is not. your hate and filth will lead u no where
3- u can keep living in your dreams and write what you like or wake up to reality and know that the people of Baalbek are HA in majority and they are proud of their culture, of their martyrs of their identity and believes and proud to present it… wa 3ala ras al sate7
4- this is not a stand in the temple, this is an exhibition outside the temple , which was done in collaboration with ” baladiyat” baalback , who is all pro HA as are the people of baalbek.
5- the souvenir shops outside the temple are rented by people who are free to sell whatever they want . By the way tourists like to buy HA souvenirs.
6, at the entry of the monument and next to these shops there is a very nice ancient church who sells Sajj in addition to christian monuments. i wonder what will happen if someone try to build a mosque in bcharri or sell islamic souvenirs there..
9. N10452 | August 8th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
Ja3far,
1- I am not calling them terrorists, they are terrorists.
2- I respect whomever earns my respect.
3- HA never liked Baalbeck festivals and never were supportive of it. this is their culture.
4- I dont care, it has no place there.
5- tourists like to buy anything, thats no reason for having HA shops there. More tourists are running away and getting scared though.
6- The church was there 2abel ma yeje chi 2esmo Hezbollah … i dont see ur point.

You’re speaking as though you’re so wise and knowledgable and the solution lies in ur head.. tell me what do you think the soltuion is? I really dont believe N’s major concern is the solution but rather shedding light on whats going on at the other end of the tunnel. If i can remember.. ive seen a number of articles here where the ouwet MP’s are criticized, geagea’s positions discussed, and a number of other issues that make us skeptical about teh LF. If you’re complaining at how ouwet focus on insignificant matters such as this one, you’re disregarding everything they’ve ever done or are doing. In my opinion, i see a tremendous improvement in their bloc, support, and their position today. We have alot to say and this is only a portion of what we’re gna say.. believe blogs like this represented by the LF casts light on “insignifcant” matters (as you say) that all of us must be aware of.

Jo, Stick to the subject of the post instead of attacking the leader…For your enlightment read Michael Young’s latest whereas he discusses the Syrian strategy of targeting DSG and LF…See my friend; everyone except a few of you see that LF is the only party left that has been standing on principles and not kissing ass…

Ja3far explain your point more.
As for Jo and Alex, i think you are the same person trying to make this silly dialogue, so please stop this bull siht.
As for the posters of Geagea in ARZ, did anyone hear about an international festival being held in Bsharri?
Does the tourists think of Geagea the same as they do with Nasralla?
Does the international media show Geagea for the tourists and to its people the same as they show Nasralla?
15. ja3far | August 8th, 2009 at 7:28 pm
elie… i will tell u a little story:
few years ago, the arab tourists ( who are by the way the major source of our touristic income whether u like them or no, where so much into area like broumana .
As there is no mosque there, and those people do take such things seriously regardless of their daily behavior, they decided to buy a land and build a mosque on it. . the same way they do in many country around the world. However, the marry of the area refused to give them a permission . since then they left broumana and went to more ” friendly area like alaye and bhamdoun…
the point ya 3azizi, is that you people are living out of space and time.. U still believe that you do set the rules , up to what you like and others should follow. ..
Did any body ask you to remove the picture of pierre gemayel from next to gemayzi? To remove the pictures of harriri and his tomb from down town? The pictures of bashir, of the batrak, of the Christ or marry from the roads? Should I ask you to remove the crosses from the top of every hill saying they may hurt the feeling of the arabs? Ki*ss imoun kiloun.. this is our country and our believes.. they don’t respect our culture ma yejou..
The people of baalback are HA , they have voted for HA and they are proud of their culture, their martyrs and their believes. Khomeini and khameni are their spiritual leaders and they want to raise their picture on every balcony .. they want to show their cause to the visitors; they want to exhibit the israeli terrorism for visitors to see.. the israeli are still taking every visitor to the holocaust museum after 60 years and u are scared and shy to show the visitor what happened to us 3 years ago?
16. Cartman | August 8th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
why is it that every time u find a useful topic, u always manage to ruin the cause by lashing out and disrespecting khsoseyet el 3alam, w tseb w ma tkhalli wla tba2i.
i believe that almost every one agrees that all touristic areas should be neutralized, this could easily and effectively be done thru the tourism department, people just need to sit down and talk about issues rationally.
but as long as there people like u, thing will never get done.
as as long as there are people like u, the other side needs all the propaganda they can to counter terror your terror…
17. hochoz | August 8th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
I say we make a war2et tafehoum…
18. Elie.F | August 8th, 2009 at 9:33 pm
Ja3far
U still believe that you do set the rules , up to what you like and others should follow. ..
Who are we and who are the others?
Still i did not get it, inno we should show the pictures of your martyrs to show them what? inno we are the only ones who are still fighting Israel?
No one asked to remove the pictures of Hariri or Gemayel but the point that i was aiming at,is do tourists look at Hariri as they look to Nasralla?
You said: they want to show their cause to the visitors;
Wlik ayya cause ya Ja3far, wlik ya zalami 3am shoofon bi Abidjan lamma yfoot el hakham w yishtiri min Mal7amit el shi3i yalli min el jnoob.
You said:they want to exhibit the israeli terrorism for visitors to see..
To see what? ya 3ammi u go to Champs Elysees, have you ever saw a picture of a martyr?
You said we are scared and shy to show the visitor what happened to us 3 years ago?
In this point we can not argue, each of us has a different point of view, because i am really shy to tell and think about the trouble that Nasralla brought to us,at least he said it by his own words that if he knew what the reaction would have been,he would have never started it from the begining.
19. ja3far | August 8th, 2009 at 10:04 pm
elie.. every country is proud of their martyrs. the main squares and streets around the world are full with their monuments and named by these leaders. do u see the British hiding nelson monument in travelgar square every time there is french tourists pas-sing or do they even care?
we are proud of our leaders, of our martyrs; and be sure that the arab tourists see SHN in a much better way then they see geagea or jumayel; but this is not the point. and i dont want to go in endless debates.. u should understand that this is who i am ; these are my believes, this is my history and ideology; i am proud of it and i have paid a lot to be able to practice it.. you should respect my believes if you want to live with me; otherwise we will go to another war…
ba3deen ya sa7bi who said that shi3as have problem with jews? my problem is with the israeli who made me suffer for thirty years.
finally, please dont take some words of SHN out of their contest manipulate them and use them to score points. If you really want to understand us, google for his interview with mariam al bas-am on NTV and read carefully what he said

That’s totally right, i send it back to you in return.
Whatever you see right we see it wrong and vice versa. We should wait for the right moment were we can try to manage to live in peace.

Palestinians are no more our enemies(I mean the West Bank) …Anyway whether Geagea or the Christians consider Israel an enemy or not it makes no difference to Israelis..They were so clear about their intention to target our infrastructure and any areas in Lebanon if HA attack them.
I am no fan of Geagea per se, but Political ideologies should evolve with the dynamics of Politics as long as the main goal is to preserve the identity and prosperity of Lebanon.
Saudis and Egyptians who ganged against us as Christians since 1969, are now aware of the Persian influence in Lebanon and therefore we need their support to offset this growing influence. It is what we call common interests! Unfortunately as a divided and weak country, our foreign policy cannot be independent from regional influence!
Cheers
23. Rima | August 9th, 2009 at 2:38 am
Jaafar
You are smart! aren’t you? Therefore you are aware that nothing lasts for ever and you cannot rely on the Iranian Mullahs until Jesus Christ comes…I am waiting to see when Ha’s pragmatic sense will materialise in more lebanon friendly approach. After all, there should be some independent thinkers among HA who are not ready to die for the eyes of Khamenei!
Cheers

N10452 : angry man !!
you may end up sticking you anger to those je-r–ks Lebanese forces leaders who have been sticking it to you for years !
If you can’t swim, don’t go on water. If you can’t drive a car, stay off road !! If you’re bothered with HA practicing their rights in their own areas (baalbek) then keep your bu-tt in achrafiyeh and don’t go there.
Most people start to change when they are teenagers, I know you’re a smart man, so act your wage azde AGE
..
Calling HA terro–rists will only hurt you !! 7alak ta3ref hek.. Lebanon is not USA ya N10452 fi2 ya sa7be..
Lebanese army secures our country. But they don’t have the advanced weapons to do their job, they still use Ak47 abu khassbeh as primary weapon .. Our police are the same..Thats why we have the resistance..

26. kezballah | August 9th, 2009 at 7:17 am
Ja3far you have believes that you want us to respect it is fair, and you promise to respect our believes which are opposite yours (HA’s), so what you are calling for really without knowing it is a Federal arrangement, we each have our way but we agree to respect each other’s differences.
I am OK with it if this is what you really want, but if you want to have your way of running the country and only giving us some illusion that we are free to have our pictures and church, then this is a problem because you will be doing what you are criticizing, you will be behaving as if you set the rules, this is what happen in May 7 maybe HA think it works on everyone but what I am saying in my comments is be careful we don’t know how to be like Jumblat, I really hope we can have a federal solution so we don’t have to prove every time our own resistance.
27. kezballah | August 9th, 2009 at 7:29 am
JO, it is easier if you join the FPM than to wait for LF to become Syrian tool like March 8 groups.
We don’t mind visiting Syria if the dictator A-ss will treat with us like an independent country and respect our interests, there is no point to visit Syria if we have to be Baath tools on the bargaining table with America and Israel.

“Lebanese army secures our country. But they don’t have the advanced weapons to do their job, they still use Ak47 abu khassbeh as primary weapon .. Our police are the same..Thats why we have the resistance..”
are you serious? so this is what the resistance is needed for? man no matter what we get, who we’re supported by, or what we do.. our neighbors.. be it syria or israel, will always over power us. Our army doesnt need more than an Ak-47 and a few helicopters to maintain INTERNAL balance and screw those that threaten Lebanon’s security.. this is exactly what I mean with that of what happened in Nahr El Bared. So now ur telling me that the “advanced” weapons of the resistance is up to saving every bridge we have here, preventing damages like that of 2006, or at least the lives lost? Im pretty sure its a no.. so again, its pointless. Fine, you might argue a few missiles might target israel every now and then and might reach tel aviv, then thats great.. but what for? how can that help us? unless theres some advance missile that can wipe israel off them map, then i really think we’re screwed..Doc, tell me seriously.. whats ur aim in life? ur goal? a good education, raising a family, getting a great job.. all in lebanon? .. What we need is a good economy, no pothen i really think the resistance isnt ur solutionwer stronger than that of the army, gain great education here in lebanon and make it the paris of the middle east once and for all
30. Charles | August 9th, 2009 at 9:46 am
sorry for the mess at the end
“…then i really think the resistance isnt ur solution…what we need is a good economy, no power stronger than that of the army, gain great education here in lebanon and make it the paris of the middle east once and for all”

Charles as if its in our gov hand
man lebanon since the beginning we r in war situation
we cant change this ,only solution is towtin
have you ever heard of Kissinger plan ???
what i found that Gov dont have the power to give the lebanese army the technology and USA wont accept this cause if you have the power then ur a Terrorist.
thats why they send us boots Humvs and logistic stuff but no weapons (remember naher el bared what USA send)
its an endless thing.
all we have to do and i will repeat this million time is stop blablaying on khabriyet el sob7iyeh on teh LF forum le2an ktiir sorna ajwe2 fadya el shere2a.

I like your solution to accept towtin of Palestinians and visit Bashar, I think the only thing your solution needs is a good name, you call March 14 ta7alof ma3 srameh so this name is already taken, I am stuck about another name any ideas?
