Watch out for Gen.Sleiman ..
Posted by N10452I cannot and will never trust any general in our army, specifically those who were in command during the Syrian tutelage.
I have always expressed my worries on plans for putting Sleiman as president, even though he is denying it.
He thinks we are stupid or something or cant read the “inside” messages he is sending, well surprisingly very few politicians are paying attention to his moves, among them Dr.Geagea who clearly stated his worries on a plan being set up by Lahoud to give Sleiman the power once his mandate is over.
Let us begin with the simplest things, the ads that were put all over the place for the Army day, and for support of the troops in Nahr el Bared. Three of them send political messages, “ Al Amrou Laka” which i posted earlier about it, ” Litakoun kararatikon bi7ajm Tad7iyatihim” and ” adoh Tajma3″.
All those are political messages, and were accompanied by visits of Sleiman to the Patriarch lately and several “official” visits and of on top of all those, his latest statement that Fat7 el Islam is neither related to Syria or the government !
And check this quote from the Daily Star
“Army Commander General Michel Suleiman has indicated he would accept to head a transitional government in the event MPs are unable to choose the next president before the end of President Emile Lahoud’s term in office in November, provided all sides accept his nomination”
I am glad we have Dr.Geagea around to make sure such generals dont get to power anymore, and i think 14th of March leaders, mainly Hariri & Jumblatt would not want to see another general in power, after what Lahoud did to them and to us.
For the time being, lets hope Sleiman will stop entertaining us with his lame speeches and try to do something useful for his army men who are making him look good even though he doesnt deserve it.

completly right
Although, I think anyone, I mean ANYONE, is better than that retarded excuse of a human being.
And M14(especially Jumblatt) is starting to pump up the crowds, and trying to get some momentum before the elections.
HOWEVER, I think that M14 won’t budge on it’s goal of having a M14 president, nor will M8 that doesn’t want to lose lahoud.
And with that maniak Aoun saying it’s him or no one, I think we’re going to fall into a constitutional gap,
and everyone is going to scramble around, and unfortunately, I think Sleiman will become president.
BUT ANYONE ANYONE ANYONE IS BETTER THAN LAHOUD!!
3. Rodge | August 14th, 2007 at 9:18 am
Perfect posting N,
And again, 8th of March will benefit from this to put the Army in the opposite of 14th of March who will never accept Sleiman as president.
Gen. Sleiman is acting the same as Aoun and Lahoud did before geting in power, and it will be a disaster to see another General in Baabda.
Johnny is right in suggesting to modify the constitution and not allow any military to run, not even any Governmental employee.
In this matter, we should be proactive.

The whole army institution must be revised and i say even removed and replaced with an efficient and smaller group of trained professionals .. who dont have a religion, nor a political view, nor nothing ..
Let us again look at Turkey and how this islamic based country managed to keep secularism through its unbreakable uncorruptable army

I agree… no presidents from military background! They all tend to lose it at some point. But you also tend to forget that most of the current 14M in the exception of LF were or still are as Syrian as him.

Interesting post, didn’t read it until now…and pretty similar to what I wrote today. Great minds think alike or something like that:-)

1) It does not bother me he is a general. It bothers me he got the job under and BECAUSE of Syria (over more senior officers).
2) Now Albert Mansour, a Syrian dog, is peddling Suleiman.
3) Watch Sfeir make another huge mistake by endorsing Syleiman.
9. LF Forever | August 14th, 2007 at 1:35 pm
go to the army website and you will realize that they are not lebanese but in hand of Syria and Hezbollah! Sleiman will f*** us if he is president…I told you about the Italian Newspaper? They are so sure that Sleiman will be our next President, as we don’t have enough from generalieh…
quickly we should have a street protest against the Sleiman presidency, but for sure they will tell us that we are for Al qaida if so…this is the idea guys…ATTENTION FOR THE GAME.
10. Johnny.B | August 14th, 2007 at 1:48 pm
m3a22ade3h ktir hal game, it like this :
lahoud said if his time reaches for him to leave and there is no preident taweifo2 , he will give the presidency to sleiman ! I’m starting to beleive that this fat7 l-islam thing is done on puropse by syria, and sleiman is mitwate2 bill li3beh to make him look good and patriotic that he is defending lebanon, and suddenly he will jump into presidency… the same game that aoun did, he pretended to be here to save lebanon and jumped to the presidency !!!
WAKE UP BEFORE ITS TOO LATE !!! the conspiracy to bring sleiman as a president started when fate7 l-islam started !!! BEWARE !!!

Reading this post today, I remembered Gibran and I do that every time we have a problem in our beloved country.
Written almost 80 years ago ”
Pity the nation that is full of beliefs and empty of religion.
Pity the nation that acclaims the bull as hero, and that deems the glittering conqueror bountiful.
Pity the nation that is full of beliefs and empty of religion
Pity the nation that welcomes its new ruler with trumpetings, and farewells him with hootings, only to welcome another with trumpetings again.
Pity the nation divided into fragments, each fragment deeming itself a nation.”
80 years almost and nothing has changed.

Johnny B. Said:
“the conspiracy to bring sleiman as a president started when fate7 l-islam started !!! BEWARE !!!”
What conspiracy? the guy will soon be branded as the worst Head of Army ever! With the number of dead soldiers increasing by the day and three months to take over a handful of terrorists!? What kind of bull is that?
With this kind of record he won’t even find a job as a security guard at the mall!

I have to comment on this one :
I am thoroughly conviced that we need a big change in the lebanese come election time . G. Sleyman’s ideas are another reason why we need t o replace the 70 yrs old politicians who have been in service for the last 40 yrs . Lebanon needs more contemporary thinkers! These ideas are the same old things.
Lets make education our first priority by electing M. Aoun ! Lets live by our value (lebanese educated ppl) , and encourage others to live by theirs ! Educated political patriotic party is the solution.
P.S : I had to comment on this one bcz i’v been waiting la hayda al post .
20. waha wera | August 15th, 2007 at 7:35 am
best guy for president would be someone who is not army, not march 8 or 14 or in fact involved in any party.
find someone who just gets on with living and working and you will find a good president.
21. Fad14 | August 15th, 2007 at 8:12 am
in 70 years we saw what ex military men are worth in politics and its time to kick this idea out of the window.
You need someone with economical background and with international contacts to lead our country, WHERE THEY HELL do you see this in Suleiman or Aoun or Lahoud ???
22. Johnny.B | August 15th, 2007 at 8:26 am
Ali 1559,
we need someone who can make our economy rise and who has a vision for a peacefull and touristic future, i don’t think general sleiman has taht vision.
and a candidate from 8 or from 14 will cause also tention and will give a reason for the people who are against him to make trouble and blame it on the party who’s president has been elected!
I think we need a real president who can yijma3 8 and 14!
what do u think guys ?
23. Rodge | August 15th, 2007 at 8:48 am
Johnny,
U’re right, we need a President who can gather all Lebanese. but is there such a man?? we need to bring him from abroad, because in Lebanon, there is no one neutral.
while this is the case, we can find someone, who can be close to one side (14th of March), but is opened top others and has no shamefull history, someone who we can trust that he will not change, someone that can promise and deliver.
It is hard to find someone as good as that in Lebanon these days, or even he’s not so neutral.
But thinking again, why he should be neutral? if we have someone good from the 14th of March
24. Johnny.B | August 15th, 2007 at 9:18 am
Rodge,
even if he was the best in 14 march, ma 7a ykoun radyin 3anno 8 march, w 7a yifti3lou macheikil w yzittouwa 3leh, ma t3awwadna 3a hal araf! just like its happeneing with sanioura, I mean can u think of anyone better than sanioura? yet they blame him for everything la2anno min 14 march!
25. Rodge | August 15th, 2007 at 11:23 am
U’re right Johnny,
But i mean if we have the opportunity, maybe the hurdle of Lahoud will be overcame, and both the next President and PM can work together to end this situation, hopefully.
At least they can form a full Government without the threat of resignations and other actions.

any way JHONNY if i have to pick up a president from 8 of march i would chooose
N3amtalla abi nasr
if i have to choose a president from 14 of march i would have chosen pierre Gemayel alla yirhamo
and i think oth of them are better for lebanon cause electing any of the 2 geagea ofor aoun will cause a disaster due to the hatered that each one of them have summmoned between the lebanese people

LF Forever,
U’re right in this regard, and as i said in an early comment, we should start to act towards the Patriarche, because it seems he’s getting too much missed information about the situation from the 8th of March people to make him accept that. Our people should take better actions and stop watching.
